FuriousFox46 Posted 16 April 2012 Posted 16 April 2012 We cannot survive being in this division with the wages the players are on unless we cut out spending or wages of the players our financial prospects look grim, getting in the prem asap would bring a lot of money and exposure for the Thais.
halferowley2 Posted 16 April 2012 Posted 16 April 2012 I'll follow the club anywhere, its just that the money and Sven really raised our expectations at the beginning of the season, now our feet are back on the ground lets enjoy the football and maybe one day we will again visit the promised land but its not the end of the world if we dont.
Happy Fox Posted 16 April 2012 Posted 16 April 2012 Mills wages are in excess of £30,000 a week, Beckford's are higher Pantsil's isn't cheap along with the deadwood. Looking at the financial accounts make a grim reading so yeah negativity or realism?

A lot of money isn't it? do our players warrant that money when performances are so abject?, any way it is unsustainable while we are in this division being in the prem is the be all and end all for the owners.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 16 April 2012 Posted 16 April 2012 Let's give League 2 a try. I think I'd enjoy the Conference.
seenitall Posted 16 April 2012 Posted 16 April 2012 So not only are we happy with our manager but also he did brilliantly and kept us in the Championship instead of ruining our great team by making it play at places like Old Trafford and The Emirates. I mean, who would want to watch us take on Man City or Chelsea when we can get beat by Millwall at home and away, that's much more exciting

I mean, who would want to watch us take on Man City or Chelsea when we can get beat by Millwall at home and away, that's much more exciting I already have done in the previous two seasons, in my favourite competition. I'm happy enough.
accessory Posted 16 April 2012 Posted 16 April 2012 When we eventually make it back to the Premier League, there's only going to be a handful of teams I want to actually watch. Mainly, the top 6, I'm sure you all know who they are so I won't list them. Who cares about Norwich, QPR etc, they've only been up for one season despite what they might have achieved in the past (I haven't done my homework on that front). And of the established Prem clubs like Wigan, Wolves, Stoke... I'd rather watch paint dry. Compare that to the Championship: Forest Cov Derby Cardiff Millwall (don't know why really) Middlesbrough Hull So, the second list is only one bigger, but whatever. Assuming tickets prices go up, and games that I want to watch will be sold out pretty quickly without being a STH, my personal preference is that we stay in the Championship. Anyone else feel this way? n2c    This post, and the largely sympathetic reactions to it, typify everything that is currently corrosive, repugnant and vile about this club and sections of its fanbase. Many great players and managers of the past would turn in their graves if they knew the depths to which so-called supporters of the club they once graced have now sunk. Since when did "ambition" become a dirty word? Is it perhaps because it has three syllables, so you and the other brain-dead fcukwits have too much trouble dealing with it? Or maybe it's because we have been force-fed so much dross and lower-league mediocrity that many, perhaps even a majority of the fanbase, have now been conditioned to accept it as the norm. Well I have news. For some of us, it is NOT the norm. And as long as we have a breath in our bodies, it never will be. We demand better and will continue to do so, whether online or at games. We will do whatever it takes to rid Filbert Way of the losing mentality that currently infects its corridors, from the manager's office downwards, like a virulent disease. Why should we accept a place in the pecking order below the likes of Wigan or Swansea? Especially when in both of those areas, rugby was until recently the premier sport. That could very easily be Leicester's fate within the next decade. Whether you like or loathe our egg-chasing neighbours, you cannot deny they have the drive, hunger and determination which enables them to challenge for silverware every single season. When was the last time you saw a club rugby shirt, other than a Tigers one, being worn around town? What particularly sickens me is the self-indulgence, flaunted like a fashionable tattoo by many of your fellow happy-clappies, that is content to allow continual stagnation and decay within the club, as long as someone else, be it Mandaric or King Power, picks up the tab. Lest we forget, the current enfeebled state of the club means that its losses are running at over £10 million per YEAR. Is anyone going to pour that amount of money into a black hole indefinitely? Don't think so.. The option of continuing as we are is simply not available. Either we evolve (preferably sooner rather than later) into a solid, sustainable, respected Premier club, or we throw in the towel, tell the Thais to cut their losses and return to where they came. In the latter case, we would subsist for the next few decades in the shadows, slums and backwaters, before eventually slipping quietly into extinction. But our city, and the club's heritage and traditions deserve a better fate. And it IS possible, with the right leadership and attitude. The capacity crowd for the Real Madrid game shows both the appetite that still exists for top-quality football in this city, and the potential this club retains, but has yet to fully realise. If a club as limited as Wigan can still compete with (and occasionally even beat) the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United in 2012, why shouldn't Leicester City pursue the aspiration to do likewise?
Mark_w Posted 16 April 2012 Posted 16 April 2012 That's funny, don't remember seeing any threads like this after the Ipswich game?
ScouseFox Posted 16 April 2012 Posted 16 April 2012 If you want very cheap, friendly atmosphere and decent rivalry then get down Viccy park. In all seriousness, I sort of see what you're saying but I can't agree that playing Hull, Middlesborough or Millwall in a mid table championship game would be more enjoyable than playing in the Premier League, really.
nothin2seehere Posted 16 April 2012 Author Posted 16 April 2012 Hey, accessory, me and the other "brain dead fcukwits" as you so eloquently put it have our reasons for enjoying this division. I'd also have my reasons for enjoying a stint in the Premier League too. Just because I don't mind staying down in the Championship doesn't mean I never want to see the Club in the Prem. Far from it. And if you can point out the bit in my post that said "I don't want this club to get anywhere and I really enjoy seeing the owners sink money into a black hole" then by my guest, quote it, and I'll retract the statement. You have an opinion on the matter, so do I and the rest of us, but I really don't want to be insulted and abused for it. Mark_w - this topic was actually brought up in a thread ages ago, but I thought I'd throw it out there in its own thread.
Mark_w Posted 16 April 2012 Posted 16 April 2012 Mark_w - this topic was actually brought up in a thread ages ago, but I thought I'd throw it out there in its own thread. Fair enough, I can see why you'd rather stay in the Championship, I find it to be a more entertaing league, more games, cheaper season ticket, local rivals, not scrapping in a relegation battle etc. But despite all that I'd still love another chance to watch us in the Premier League, even if it's just for one year.
stourbridgefox Posted 16 April 2012 Posted 16 April 2012 Being in the Premier League is only any good if Leicester are doing well. Anyone remember the season we only won 6 games all year? Not fun. I would've liked to have seen whether the Raksriaksorns and Nigel Pearson could've built a decent Premier League side next season...but it's not to be. So instead of throwing my teddy out of the pram like a spoilt child...I'll just go down next season and enjoy (as far as possible) another season in the Championship! Simple really.
Kitchandro Posted 16 April 2012 Posted 16 April 2012 When we eventually make it back to the Premier League, there's only going to be a handful of teams I want to actually watch But one of them will be us, right? I've only once been to a Leicester match to watch the opposition, that was Real Madrid. Even then I was loving Bamba keeping them quiet! I just want to watch Leicester and I want to see us be successful. The point in sport is trying to achieve things. Why would you hope that we fail? Yeh OK, it is cheaper in the Championship, but the value for money is still terrible. If we had a reasonable season in the top flight I'd be a lot happier than I am with us down here. The atmospheres and attendances are only going to get worse the longer we are in this division, personally I can't see many benefits of being in the 2nd tier.
seenitall Posted 16 April 2012 Posted 16 April 2012 You'd rather stay in the Championship eh? Like you've got a choice right?

Fair play, yeh of course I'll still come to the ground My original point was that coming to the KP to see Doncaster vs Wigan - there ain't much difference in my mind None of those teams hold any meaning for me, whereas most of my mates all support Championship teams so the work piss-taking is much better Btw, my only reason for not owning a season ticket is that I don't own a car and getting to games is prohibitively expensive for some who's just bought a house So I need to be fussy with which games I go to. You'd rather stay in the Championship eh? Like you've got a choice right? Hah! Good point No. We'll go up soon and when we do I'll be one of the first to give my thumbs up and congratulate the team. I'm still entitled to love the Championship though!
Donut Posted 16 April 2012 Posted 16 April 2012 Im surprised at peoples attitudes on this We blame players for ''not giving 100%'' but some people would prefer the mediocre championship it seems (particularly on the 1st page) rather than pushing for the premiership. This attitude makes no sense. Its like playing football against under 15s just to win games and look better than them. The premiership is just about everything. It is the holy grail, and being there way exceeds playing in the championship. Big teams, big grounds, big crowds, big exposure, big players, big money. Say no more for me.
Rand94 Posted 16 April 2012 Posted 16 April 2012 foroget the BPL, Championship is the best league in the world
ozleicester Posted 17 April 2012 Posted 17 April 2012 The basis (imo) of being involved in any competition is to be the best, that means the premier league is where i want us to be, but i want us to be competetive and that means top 10 of the prem. (well actually i want to be the champions but hey) There is a secondary preference for the prem and that is i would actually get some coverage of how we are doing and get to see some games on TV...and when friends ask me who i support and i tell them Leicester they might have actually heard of us (even if it is only coz we played Manure or Chelski the week before).
teblin Posted 17 April 2012 Posted 17 April 2012 I Would prefer to be in the prem to be honest! But I would prefer to be in a premier league that contained some of our rivals. The late 90's were great as you had all the big clubs but also had derby, forest and cov derbies to look forward too.
