Recruited the impressive Ben Marshall, ball winning danny drinkwater and championship team of the year defender wes morgan. Only had one transfer window (January) when its difficult to prize players away. and we have the impressive and one of the best talent scouts back at the club Steve Walsh. Next Season Fitter squad - Nigels teams are all about being super fit,hard working and full of desire An actual transfer window and his first back at the club that he'll be able to attract players to the club.

Edit: NP did get us in 6th place briefly in the 5 months he's been back, and Sven didn't manage that once in a whole year! You brought that up as if it was important, and you messed up!

He's an average manager, no more. He lacks flexibility and awareness and has only limited technical ability. Unfortuntely having got him, I don't think we have any option but to keep him - until Christmas at least (or we'll just be the laughing stock of the League again). But - as I suspect will happen - WHEN he fails, bring (back) Chris Powell - someone with football 'nous', tactical skills, ability to talk to the press (and everyone else, without offending them !) and some brains. Trouble is, will he want to come - as it's likely that he'll have taken Charlton above us in the Championship by December ?!

No, he should have used his experience and knowledge as a capable football manager, to realise that halving the number of players at his disposal for a position (which by it's very nature is bound to carry more injury and suspension risk than most other positions) carried a risk and done something about it.

Halving it from eight, let's not forget. Eight! Four players to cover two positions should be plenty. What happened was very unfortunate and NP would have done something about it had the loan window not shut the day after two of them became unavailable. It's possible that all the goalkeepers at the club become injured or suspended at the same time, but managers don't plan ahead for something so unlikely by signing five of them, do they?

I was trying to do some research to prove the balance of a squad needs plenty of central midfield options ... the best i could find was the Spanish World Cup squad of 2010 having 7 from 23 .... 11 positions all with 2 players and the spare extra player selected for the squad?? Centre mid. It's too important a position to only have 4 for 2 positions IMHO!

Let's look at the midfielders who left: Fernandes - made it clear he wanted to go as soon as Sven left, and before NP returned. Wages may have been another factor. Johnson - clearly totally unfit. Again, wages may have been a factor. Abe - homesick and rumoured £40k a week. Wanted to leave, anyway. Oakley - 2 league cup apps for us, 7 games for Exeter and then injured. Well past it. Moussa - hardly featured (if at all) under three different managers. They all wanted to leave or weren't good enough. What good would they have been if they had stayed? NP did know Bamba and Peltier could be used in midfield if they had to be, and that we have plenty of defenders to cover them. Bamba wasn't brilliant in midfield by any stretch of the imagination, but he wasn't awful either. I read that NP did attempt to sign two midfielders on loan before the window closed, but, for whatever reason, they didn't happen. Relegation to the 3rd tier for the first time, he rescues us from that and gets to within touching distance of back to back promotions then your pleased he went..... I know we're all entitled to our opinions but thats plain ridiculous!!! What in gods name do you want!!!????? Sousa came in and did a great job didnt he..... oh and then Sven has spent more money than any other manager we've had and we were still no further forward! NP returns to us in a worse position than when he left.....

Shall I start a new thread so you can answer my questions? Well, I have actually answered this question elsewhere, but if it really hakes you happy! I was, like everyone else, pleased to go back up, but that was never really going to be difficult. No I was not impressed by him, and where did I ever say I hate him? Don't make up words. I have said that I dislike him, and that is due to his negativity, and failure introduce any concept of improvement since his arrival. His post match talks illustrate his lack of positivity, off the field, as well as on in. He also appears to lack any form of man management, and the team still has not responded to overtures. I therefore consider him as much "dead wood", as some of the players. I all peoples views, even though I personally don't agree with most. That however is life At the end of the day, the Thais will decide if they are happy with him. He may be given a chance next season, but by God, we will have to come out of the starting blocks rapidly, or he will be soon gone.!
