Vale Blue Posted 18 April 2012 Posted 18 April 2012 This isn't a we hate NP thread. Just pit yourself in their shoes: What has impressed you about Nigels tenure? Would you back him to spend in the summer and how much? Can you afford to pay off contracts and give him millions to bring in his own players? Is there a manager out there who can get this group of players promoted? After all the booing, has NP lost the fans? Have the Pearson signings proved he can spend money successfully? Has he improved enough individuals to highlight his coaching prowess? I'm sure there are many questions the owners will ask themselves but what do you think.
ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 18 April 2012 Posted 18 April 2012 I think his signings have been excellent, but is he any better than Sven? My opinion is no
Trav Le Bleu Posted 18 April 2012 Posted 18 April 2012 Excuse me, I just saw this in the "Recent Topics" and I've just got to say a pre-emptive... AAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!
ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 18 April 2012 Posted 18 April 2012 the owners aint got a clue about football end of what's this based on?
5waller5 Posted 18 April 2012 Posted 18 April 2012 He has definitely impressed by cutting the phone bill .... the previous guy used to spend ages on the phone to the press in comparison. He has also saved money on the training equipment provided, his shiny big new trainers are £12.99 from SportsDirect.
FuriousFox46 Posted 18 April 2012 Posted 18 April 2012 His signings have been very good. Sacked Sven for inconsistency is it still there? Yes.
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 18 April 2012 Posted 18 April 2012 His signings have been second to none, Also he has changed the atmosphere in the dressing room and has made the players want to play for the club and finally it seems like he is going to clear out all the deadwood In the summer and reduce the wage bill! Therefore if I was the owner I would be slightly happy with NP contribution so far this season!
ousefox Posted 18 April 2012 Posted 18 April 2012 What has impressed you about Nigels tenure? Signings, 'passion' Would you back him to spend in the summer and how much? Yes Can you afford to pay off contracts and give him millions to bring in his own players? Yes. Is there a manager out there who can get this group of players promoted? If anybody can, Nigel can. He'll get rid of the trouble makers too. After all the booing, has NP lost the fans? If people want rid of him without a summer and after what he has done for us in the past..they're just thick. Have the Pearson signings proved he can spend money successfully? Easily, the amount of quality signings Nige's team has made in the past prove this. Has he improved enough individuals to highlight his coaching prowess? Not since he came back with every player, but he should be able to get the team working together over the summer.
5waller5 Posted 18 April 2012 Posted 18 April 2012 The declining attendances, less noise and jumping out of seats has also reduced the maintenance costs on the stadium.

Webbo Posted 18 April 2012 Posted 18 April 2012 Apparently in Thailand giving dull interviews and not waving your hands about on the touchline are very admirable qualities.
HEGGSY Posted 18 April 2012 Posted 18 April 2012 Sorry for stretching you, get back in your box. Ooooh.
Corky Posted 18 April 2012 Posted 18 April 2012 What has impressed you about Nigels tenure? His wonderful smile when Stringer introduced himself at his press conference. Highlight of this, and any, press conference. Would you back him to spend in the summer and how much? About £3 Can you afford to pay off contracts and give him millions to bring in his own players? No Is there a manager out there who can get this group of players promoted? Neil Warnock, who could get any team promoted every season. After all the booing, has NP lost the fans? We never boo under other managers, so yes. Have the Pearson signings proved he can spend money successfully? Possibly. Has he improved enough individuals to highlight his coaching prowess? He's got Beckford scoring, Dyer running and Mills out of the team, so an unequivocal yes.
Legend_in_blue Posted 18 April 2012 Posted 18 April 2012 If I were the owner I'd be more concerned with how some of the players, rather than successive managers, have failed to impress considering the huge outlay made on bringing them in in the first place. I'd be none too chuffed tbh.
Guest MattP Posted 18 April 2012 Posted 18 April 2012 If I was an owner I'd be at the games to make an assessment. Though how much a 26 year old Thai knows about championship football?? Very interesting. He clearly thought you could buy promotion for a start.
cc_star Posted 18 April 2012 Posted 18 April 2012 Some unsustainably very, very high earners have gone, players with the right aptitude have come in & there is marginal progress with points per game, so if I were them I'd be looking forward to a few more leaving & some more exciting arrivals... And the progress accelerating.
stourbridgefox Posted 18 April 2012 Posted 18 April 2012 What has impressed you about Nigels tenure? I would be thinking that some, but not spectacular, progress has been made. We have won back to back games twice, we have been very hard to beat at home, we have had more clean sheets. Would you back him to spend in the summer and how much? I would want him to find good young prospects who won't add too much to the debt but will do a job on the field and will have some resale value. Can you afford to pay off contracts and give him millions to bring in his own players? It might be cheaper doing this than continue to pay big name players who are not doing the job on the pitch. Is there a manager out there who can get this group of players promoted? Without spending stupid money to get in a big name, which we have tried and failed, there is no-one who stands out as being better than Nigel Pearson. After all the booing, has NP lost the fans? I would think the owners are pretty disappointed with the fans anyway and probably see the dissent as ungrateful. I doubt the fans will be at the forefront of their decision making process...and rightly so. Have the Pearson signings proved he can spend money successfully? Wes Morgan - decent signing. Danny Drinkwater - bags of potential. Ben Marshall - a star in the making. Has he improved enough individuals to highlight his coaching prowess? I think the owners would've liked more progress by now but he has had more of an impact than Sven or Sousa. Therefore, I think the owners will stick with him but on a reduced budget and maybe they need slightly more realistic expectations.
wurmer Posted 18 April 2012 Posted 18 April 2012 Have we achieved automatic promotion or are we in the Playoffs? No, there's your answer.
moreland79 Posted 18 April 2012 Posted 18 April 2012 We should never have sacked the swede... Yes we lost 3-0 at home to Millwall.. Wow!!!! We were four points off second place...... Now we are twenty two points off second. Then we made a bad move by going backwards in employing Pearson again. He got us to play offs after winning league one, but look at history, Norwich won l1 went up last year as runners up. Southampton got promoted from l1 and again are nailed on for promotion again. When you come out l1 you are on a high you take into your following season.. I believe Olly would have won l1 and done as good if not better the following season.. So we all now look to the 2012-13 season. Will bamba stay?? i think he is missing Sven thats only reason he signed.. Konchesky heis ok but hes only got one leg, get him on his right peg and he is garbage.. Wellens is to slow and concedes far to many fouls. Gally i aint even going to waste ink on.. Two good goals v Palace is all i can remember.. Cant tackle to save his life. Nugents grown on me wasnt sure when he signed but he won me over with his workrate and goals. Beckford well we will see?? Marshall and Drinkwater good signings for next season... Hopefully Waghorn will be back but then again Pearson will just stick him out wide on the left and we wont see best of him...Pearsons got a summer to sort things out in time for August, otherwise its another christmas period looking for yet another manager..... Return of the Sven anyone?????

Surely Brian mcdermotts signings where better seeing as they got promoted and more than likely will win the league
Raw Dykes Posted 18 April 2012 Posted 18 April 2012 We should never have sacked the swede... Yes we lost 3-0 at home to Millwall.. Wow!!! We were four points off second place...... Now we are twenty two points off second. I agree that Sven was sacked too early, but you can't measure success by points gaps at different times of the season. Points gaps at the start of the season are smaller, and they grow as the season goes on. For example, when Sven was sacked, we were only 9 points above the relegation zone. Now we're 23 points above the relegation zone. Does that mean we're doing a lot better now? Not necessarily, it's not a fair or accurate way of measuring success. You need to look at how many points we've averaged per match. On average, we've picked up slightly more points per match since Pearson returned. We're also three places higher up the table now. I don't think you can call it a backwards move if you're going back to get a manager who's done well before. Why do you think it was a backwards move? We finished 5th in the season when NP left - our best finish since being relegated from the PL 8 years ago. Then Sousa took us to the bottom of the league, and Sven spent a year with us in mid-table, despite being given a giant transfer budget. Norwich and Soton are exceptional cases. No-one should expect back-to-back promotions just because it happens occasionally. Norwich and Soton didn't have a Newcastle or a West Brom dominating the league to contend with, either. Why don't you look at history? What's the percentage of teams promoted from League 1 that go straight to the PL in their first season in the Championship? I believe Olly would have won l1 and done as good if not better the following season.. So we all now look to the 2012-13 season. Will bamba stay?? i think he is missing Sven thats only reason he signed.. Konchesky heis ok but hes only got one leg, get him on his right peg and he is garbage.. Return of the Sven anyone????? I can't be bothered to tackle the rest. There's too much wrong with it.
