Simo86 Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 I think he could be right, looking at the quality of the squad and possible sales I would say. 1 Right Back 1 Centre Back 2 Centre Midfielder 2 Wingers 2 Strikers Need competition for Peltier, need a centre back to replace Bamba/Mills maybe, we are short on quality wingers, need one strong athletic midfielder and one attacking one, another goalscorer and a loan striker. I'd say we need someone as a first team right back, Peltier is ok cover but not a starting player in my eyes.
MrSpaM Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 People forgetting about Howard? cant see him playing for us next season, think he'l definatly be sold
Happy Fox Posted 27 April 2012 Author Posted 27 April 2012 People forgetting about Howard? cant see him playing for us next season, think he'l definatly be sold His contract expires this June/July so he will be gone I suspect.
Simo86 Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 His contract expires this June/July so he will be gone I suspect. So does Vassell's I wonder if he'll be offered a new deal?
Happy Fox Posted 27 April 2012 Author Posted 27 April 2012 So does Vassell's I wonder if he'll be offered a new deal? Possible , as a squad player he offers more than Howard prior to his injury he was doing alright I guess NP may evaluate his situation over pre season to see if he warrants another year contract.
Haydos Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 Ok Valid point, maybe not in the last two. But that was last year and he’s showed me nothing / or not a lot this season, (when on the pitch and not injured) to change my mind I’m basing my opinion not on what he did last year but this season and what you would get from King “ if he was to step on the pitch and play a game today” And this is why our fans our the ficklest in the land. Bravo.
Guest Col city fan Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 I would not be at all surprised if the players to leave were Beckford, Bamba, Mills and Pantsil. Not surprised in the least. IF anyone wants them.
Guest Foxin_mad Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 To be honest I couldnt care less if any of these useless clowns never play for our club again. They have given nothing this year (Maybe Kasper, Nugent and Konch excluded), so why should we give a damn about them. If we can get better or equal players in then good.
reynard Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 What interests me is the fact (if true of course) that 4 signings would have to be funded by selling players first. This begs the question how much could we raise from selling players and how much would we get. Seriously how many of our current team would demand a fee of any sort? Players out of contract don't count as they will leave for nothing so let's say Tunchev,Howard and Vassell are in that group. Mills? What is his current market value? would we take say 500k-1million for him as that's what he is probably now worth after such a poor season. Beckford? Maybe 2 million should we wish to sell. Nugent I would say 2 million but would we want to sell him. SSL probably really worth no more than 500k though a good performance in the euros might push that to 1million. Bamba The big unknown value anything from 500k - 2 million I would say. Kaspar Probably worth about 2million but again surely not on the list of players we would want to sell. Other could be sold but would only attract minimal fees I would think. Unless we sell all our top players then I can't see us raising much more than 4-5million tops to recruit 4 new players. Maybe enough based upon Pearson spending roughly 1million per player so far.
breadandcheesebrother Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 Chaps, sorry to be a bore, but I don't think it helps the club for info to be put into the public domain about the number of signings we are looking to make and how these will be financed. Pearson said yesterday that he does not want to make wholesale changes and bring in lots of signings. He has said this previously in closed seasons, (as have other managers at this and other clubs - although notably not Sven). I suspect this announcement is designed to strengthen the club's negotiating position when it comes to making signings, i.e. it suggests that although we may have moneybags owners, we're not just going to throw cash at any player that moves. If Pearson were to announce that he is looking for 7 or 8 signings, this would send an obvious signal to clubs and agents that they could name their price (especially given the example of last summer's transfer window). Pearson's statement is surely intended to mitigate that risk. This post is not intended to be the kind of Bert bashing we have seen over the last year or more. I find Bert's info on signings and targets very interesting, worthwhile and usually, appropriately judged and well timed; instead, i am making what i hope is a sensible point about whether revealing this information that broadly contradicts what the manager has told the media only the day before is in the best interests of the club (which we all support, and all want to do well).
MrSpaM Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 Kaspar Probably worth about 2million but again surely not on the list of players we would want to sell. Wouldnt accept anything less than about 6 million tbh
Raw Dykes Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 The club have put a £5m price tag on Schmeichel, according to the papers today.
seenitall Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 The club have put a £5m price tag on Schmeichel, according to the papers today. Take it
sphericalfox Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 Some of you are assuming that it will be 8 senior players. I doubt it. 4 incoming senior, and 4 prospective youth methinks
Grewks Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 Out (In my opinion) Howard - out of contract Pantsil - what is the point? Mills - no chance of him playing, and I am glad there isnt. wellens - with his injury and the time it would take to recover he would not be any use next season, a career ending injury in my opinion. weale - why keep him? gallagher - not consistent enough Tunchev - will not get what he needs with us Possibilities St Ledger - wants guaranteed 1st team football Beckford - has he been impressive enough? The In's New GK - back up/competing for kasper Chester - Rated highly by Pearson and other managers/pundits someone who can cover left back and right back defensive midfielder - Liam Trotter? Winger - Brady + Stewart Striker - Vardy + Harry Kane squad for next year Kasper New GK Peltier Konch new fullback Bamba Morgan Chester St Ledger (?) King Danns Drinkwater Trotter Stewart Dyer Brady Vassell Beckford Nugent Schlupp Kane Vardy
jamesmilner Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 I know John Percy is normally very good, but come on, how would he even know this? Are you seriously telling me someone like Pearson is going to let the press know how many players he wants? The club simply wouldn't let this kind of info out. also , pearson has picked and confirmed the players already ? no , he has not . and 8 players in is mass that pearson said wasnt happening . our wage bill will be what we work around .its all about facts and figures now with the new legislation thats in .
Guest Col city fan Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 Bloody Hell! How long is Seenitall 'stick' gonna go on for?
m00nie Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 also , pearson has picked and confirmed the players already ? no , he has not . and 8 players in is mass that pearson said wasnt happening . our wage bill will be what we work around .its all about facts and figures now with the new legislation thats in . how do you know he hasnt?? not hard to have targets in mind.. prehaps some of them were january targets (cameron stewart example)

flowwolf Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 Ok so if NP has to sell then I can see the following leaving Mills SSL Tunch Frank M Poss. Beckford ( If anyone can afford him) Who would I like to go Mills – left face it he’s never going to get back in Bamba – Bomb Scare, unpredictable and IMO has a tendency to leave has partner exposed. Either in defence or when shoved up as a make shift midfielder King - I know he’s been injured and it takes time to get back I the groove, but lets face it he’s done nothing for the last two seasons Wellens – sorry past his sell by date, only trains 2-3 days a week and against West Ham and before the injury he could hardly move. Weale – like Mills above, just never going to get a game. Oh and I nearly forgot. Gallagher – Show Pony, has moments of greatness and capable of wonder goals but you only get that once in a blue moon and it patches in matches that he plays. No doubt I’ll be called a moron, fool, stupid, fooking idiot for the above, but this is a forum and theses are MY opinions. You moronic foolish stupid fooking idiot . There is that better
munf1987 Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 You moronic foolish stupid fooking idiot . There is that better   Beat me to it, but then again we are just looking at the current season now and not the 2 seasons as stated. As after all King had a blinder of a season last year. To add to this, he scored 11 in his first full season in L1, 11 the season after that and then 16 last season. A 10 goal midfielder is what we want and due to him being injuried and not playing as well, fans want to sell him
Happy Fox Posted 27 April 2012 Author Posted 27 April 2012 John Percy @John__Percy Close#LCFC are already planning for next season. Bids have been made for players in last 48 hours.
