Jordan Posted 9 June 2012 Posted 9 June 2012 I'm not the one lobbing toys all over the floor because a has-been is going to a shit club. If Heskey comes back to Leicester, it's a cute lil' old-boy-comes-back-home story. Leicester fans seem to be the only people on the planet that appreciate Heskey, anyway. If he signs with Hull, that would just be a completely fvcking depressing way to end his career. I wouldn't mind Heskey coming back to his hometown club for an encore.
Mark_w Posted 9 June 2012 Posted 9 June 2012 And the worst case scenario with Heskey is, he isn't the player he once was, he's left on the bench for most games, and we can repay him the money he gave us when we weren't so lucky financially. I see no problem with that.
Callabinho Posted 9 June 2012 Posted 9 June 2012 To be honest I would rather try someone younger like Harry Kane! He looked pretty decent last season and scored a few goals! Heskey isn't a long term answer and no doubt he will want a sizeable wage packet, he is past what ever his best was, and his goal scoring record is terrible, I would much rather go for some one young and hungry apposed to him coming here for an easy retirement, because at the end of the day that's all he wants.
RizLCFC Posted 9 June 2012 Posted 9 June 2012 We've got enough young players in the squad to ensure that long term we will have a decent squad, but we don't have that target man any more who can come on and change a game, too many times last season we ended up with a loss or a draw against sides that parked the bus against us because there was no plan b, Heskey would be a nightmare for defenders, we don't need someone who can score 20 goals we've got that man in Nugent, and if Waghorn and Vardy chip in with 10 each we're sorted, if Beckford is still here he'll bang a few in, we need a target man who can put fear into the oppositions defence, force errors etc and Heskey would be perfect for that role.
Guest Posted 9 June 2012 Posted 9 June 2012 Oh the wailing and gnashing of teeth for a donkey hobbling off to a second rate outfit managed by a third rate manager. I thought this was a discussion on Heskey perhaps going to Hull, Not Beckford going to Leeds.
stillwater Posted 9 June 2012 Posted 9 June 2012 Waghorn chip in with ten, that's gotta be the funniest thing I've read on here in ages.
Mark_w Posted 9 June 2012 Posted 9 June 2012 Waghorn chip in with ten, that's gotta be the funniest thing I've read on here in ages. He chipped in with 12 during the only season we've started him up front for a decent number of matches when Nigel was manager... But you know, lets ignore the facts if that suits you.
jock2612 Posted 9 June 2012 Posted 9 June 2012 Does anyone think this has anything to do with the fact we awaiting the sale of Mills etc to release funds .It might be me but does any body else think its VERY quite on the transfer front. The twitter feed is just full of rubbish!!!!

I think you may well be right, we have to sell before we buy that is the case the money transfer kitty has dried up..
Rincewind Posted 9 June 2012 Posted 9 June 2012 Have we got him or not? In other threads he's been given a squad number. I know there are some optimistic fans out there but there is a limit.

Guest Col city fan Posted 9 June 2012 Posted 9 June 2012 Does nobody think that Emile may well still have a good season left in him? He still looks physically fit and the few brief times ive seen him in a Villa shirt he still looks like he wins the ball more than he dont. I haven't seen him play a full game though so its hard to tell. It would piss me off if a Leicester Legend who we could have gotten goes to Dull, ESPECIALLY if he then goes on to have a good season with them. And I'd simply like to see the man back again in a City shirt. As somebody said before (Mark?).. What's so bad about having Heskey at least as back up, as long as his wage demands aren't silly?
Fox92 Posted 9 June 2012 Posted 9 June 2012 I think he has one or two season's left in him. He may not score goals, but he is a massive threat. He can hold the ball up and bring players into play, as a target man he is second to none. If the Hull rumours are true, then I suppose it depend's what he is thinking. I know he has said he may finish his career here, but does he want to risk his legendary status, because no doubt, if he doesn't produce within the first 5 games, then people will start to get on his back.
jock2612 Posted 9 June 2012 Posted 9 June 2012 If it is that we need to sell for transfers does anyone know if the Sol transfer is actually done, nothing on OS site.

How many other teams have already signed 3 players. But yes, I imagine we are in a position of having to release a few to sign a few.
jock2612 Posted 9 June 2012 Posted 9 June 2012 If Sol and Mills go that will make 10 out and at this stage 3 in , I think we need at least another 5 or it will leave us with a very thin squad,we cant afford another positional crisis like Leeds IF we are to get promotion.I like the Man Utd Kids they have potential BUT we also need proven championship grit to get out of this league.

Having too big a squad causes the problems we had last year (Danns out of position, St. Ledger unhappy at not being picked etc.), if we have an injury crisis we can always bring in players on loan. This transfer window was always going to be more about getting rid of players than it was about bringing players in, both because the squad is too big and the wages some players are on are just extraordinary.
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 9 June 2012 Posted 9 June 2012 Is this Bruces way of playing mind games, ie we are after Hulls players so he will make a play for for Hesky ? It just sounds so odd taking Hulls finaical position into consideration
Mark_w Posted 9 June 2012 Posted 9 June 2012 It just sounds so odd taking Hulls finaical position into consideration What is Hull's financial position? I know they aren't rich but I'm sure they could offer Heskey a decent deal.
flowwolf Posted 9 June 2012 Posted 9 June 2012 If Bruno has any sense he will take up the Hull offer. That way he keeps his legendary status here and does us a favour by playing past it football for them. Much as love him for the great days under MON I don't think he has it in him now for the championship league. He will not have the time on the ball that you get in the Premiership and I think he knows this, hence his wish to still play in the prem. If your reading this Em go to Hull and fvck them up for us
ithuriel Posted 9 June 2012 Posted 9 June 2012 Why do peeps make assumptions on assumptions We have released about seven players give or take a Howard and have signed three, most likely the other players Pearson wants either are or have been on hols and the clubs are having to negotiate and certain players may be in no rush to sign anything since they have a few more weeks yet before any kind of training starts. Nigel has always kept his cards close to his chest and it is in this clubs best interests not to be flashing cash and getting ripped off by clubs thinking they can squeeze us for every penny. I'd rather have the memories of Heskey when he was a player that could turn a game rather than one that could turn a divot.
