sdb Posted 26 December 2012 Posted 26 December 2012 Why do I get that feeling all the money that Stoke are splashing around will one day come back to haunt them, seems to remind of Portsmouth when they just won the fa cup and we're signing top class players before not to long it came back to haunt them. Who've they bought this season? N'Zonzi...Cameron...Owen? What's that like £10 mill? I'm sure there's more but they seem to be operating within a reasonable budget, without stupid wages. For what it's worth I though Stoke were really excellent tonight.

And Adam I think Nzonzi was about £3m, Cameron a couple of mill, Adam £5m and Owen free. So you're probably right with £10m.
FoxyPV Posted 26 December 2012 Posted 26 December 2012 Stoke have spent a fair amount over the past couple of seasons. Massive fvcking at Livershit and 'Arry. I really despise 'Arry as a manager.
Jimothy Posted 26 December 2012 Posted 26 December 2012 That was a blatant foul on Green. Not really. Green stepped back behind the line himself, like the pundits said what's Foretune meant to do, just stand aside and let him catch it. He hasn't backed into Green, he hasn't pushed him, he's just held his position. Green needs to stronger, he's a keeper he'd get away with a little nudge to get him out the way.

Fortune is making no attempt whatsoever to play the ball. I don't like Green and I really don't like Redknapp, but that was a foul.

I don't like Green and I really don't like Redknapp, but that was a foul. He really didn't. Watch it again. Green drops back behind the line all on his own, then Fortune steps back into the vacated space. Green needs to man up.

Green needs to man up. I've watched it several times. I still think it was a foul. In fact, I can't begin to see where you or Alan Shearer are coming from. Game of opinions though. There is one undying fact in football though. Reading are desperately tinpot. In fact, they are more copperpot. Or maybe some sort of plastic pot. Just a really shit pot.

Portsmouth were spending ridiculous amounts of money on wages, Glen Johnson, Jermaine Defoe, Sol Campbell, Sully Muntari I imagine were all on over £50k a week. They also were only getting 18,000 fans a week. Stoke sell out nearly every week at 28,000 and I would guess that the highest paid players would be Charlie Adam and Peter Crouch. Like someone said Stoke are good model of how a premier league club can run without having a Billionaire bank rolling them. Just like we were in the MON years.
Guest ttfn Posted 27 December 2012 Posted 27 December 2012 Top 5 current Premier League managers as players? 1. Michael Laudrup 2. Roberto Mancini 3. Paul Lambert 4. Martin O'Neill 5. Alan Pardew Any other offers?
Fox92 Posted 27 December 2012 Posted 27 December 2012 Watched Match of the Day last night, and still can't believe how Alex Ferguson never gets sent off. He was in the referee's face, then had a try at the fourth official. If that was anybody else, they would have gone, I'm sure of it.

He can't go on about how the FA need to ban Ashley Williams for kicking the ball at rvp and how it almost killed rvp, as we all know very well, light round spheres filled with air are the biggest danger to our society these days, and then be in the referee , fourth official and linesmans face and not get punished. Deluded old man. Your defence is bollox sort it out yourself and stop moaning. I did like how shearer shot him down on motd however!

Fox in the North Posted 27 December 2012 Posted 27 December 2012 Ferguson will not face charges, from sky sports. How?!
Corky Posted 27 December 2012 Posted 27 December 2012 Because it will make no difference. He's been fined and banned before and he's continued to do this, so it's essentially meaningless.
Fox in the North Posted 27 December 2012 Posted 27 December 2012 I just hate the inconsistency, the fa have done so much more over less
Tielemans63 Posted 28 December 2012 Posted 28 December 2012 I see Fergie has called Newcastle 'a wee North East club' after Alan Pardew had the temerity to suggest (quite bloody rightly) that AF should have been punished for his disgraceful treatment of the officials on Boxing Day. He's a brilliant manager but I fooking hate Ferguson, he's been making snide comments and shown a general lack of respect towards other clubs and managers for years. Also it pisses me off that he rarely gets charged for anything. Mancini and Redknapp are more than likely to get charged for much lesser offences yet Fergie (who is the worst for haranguing referees) has no case to answer. Bloody joke. Rant over.
Corky Posted 28 December 2012 Posted 28 December 2012 It's unlike Ferguson to call other clubs small: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/8169153.stm He'd never criticise other managers for calling clubs small too: http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/sir-alex-ferguson-hits-out-again-at-arrogant-rafa-benitez-for-everton-slur-6762960.html
Soar Fox Posted 28 December 2012 Posted 28 December 2012 Just watching Boxing Day's Match Of The Day and only just noticed that away fans sit with home fans. What's people's thoughts on that. Me personally I wouldn't like it as I think it would take away some of the atmosphere.

I was obliged to sit small talking with extended family so missed most of it.
Leicesterpool Posted 28 December 2012 Posted 28 December 2012 I think Demba Ba will leave Newcastle this January, my guess he'll either go to Villa or Liverpool.
