Jaspa Posted 2 July 2012 Share Posted 2 July 2012 http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/tottenham-naming-andre-villas-boas-as-their-new-1113429 AVB set to be announced tomorrow Meet the new boss... Spurs players are told Villas-Boas is taking over Tottenham all set to confirm they're giving manager fired after less than a year at Chelsea another stab at English football Tottenham will name Andre Villas-Boas as Harry Redknapp's successor on Tuesday. The north Londoners are understood to have handed former Porto and Chelsea coach Villas-Boas a four-year deal and asked him to get them back into the Champions League. Spurs' players were informed on Monday that AVB is going to be appointed after he agreed the finer details of his deal. The Mirror revealed last Wednesday that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy had offered the ex-Chelsea boss the job. Villas-Boas' severance package from Chelsea meant he could not be apppointed before July 1. Spurs are also set to confirm that coach Tim Sherwood has been promoted to a director of football role, freeing up AVB to work solely with the players. Tottenham are expected to break the news on their website, but no press conference is scheduled - and there won't be one until after the players come back to begin their pre-season. The north London club remain confident of landing defender Jan Vertonghen from Ajax for around £10million, as well as Hoffenheim midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson and Marseille striker Loic Remy. Sigurdsson has undergone a medical, but Liverpool have also been after the Icelandic midfielder following his impressive loan spell at Swansea last season. Villas-Boas has already received a boost with Gareth Bale having signed a new deal until 2016, but there is an acceptance that fellow midfielder Luka Modric is off. I though being his contract at Chelsea was so big, it would have something written in there saying he cant sign for a Premier League rival; especially Tottenham Will be good to see some more spice in the London fixtures though, The Mancunians are dominating that atm
Fox92 Posted 3 July 2012 Share Posted 3 July 2012 Read the other day that Roman has been paying AVB 100k a week, untill he gets a new job. Will be interesting to see what he does with Spurs. He isn't a bad manager, it's just a shame that some of the Chelsea players think they are better than what they actually are.

Matt Posted 4 July 2012 Share Posted 4 July 2012 Arsenal are fucked, again. Just as there was a glimmer of hope, Just as they were getting abit better, there main man and arguably the reason for their improvement wants to go. Love it.
MC Prussian Posted 4 July 2012 Share Posted 4 July 2012 It depends on what Giroud can bring to the game and if/how quickly he can adapt to the new surroundings. Might just turn out to be the perfect replacement.
Jaspa Posted 4 July 2012 Share Posted 4 July 2012 A few rumours going around at the moment, that AC Milan are trying to sign Andy Carroll I think its very unlikely and would be quite funny to see it happen, but in terms of the development of England and Carroll I think it could be very beneficial

Darkon84 Posted 19 July 2012 Share Posted 19 July 2012 Ledley King retires , bit of a shock. thought he retired years ago! Staying on as an ambassador though. Fair play to him, realising his time is up and theres no point trying to nurse his injury any longer. Always been such a shame about his knee, always rated him highly. Jaspa Posted 19 July 2012 Share Posted 19 July 2012 Im really struggling to understand why Liverpool want to get rid of Carroll so bad He picked up at the end of last season, and made a good impression at Euro2012 Could he be off to ManU when Berba leaves ? I agree. Alright, he might not fit in to Rodgers' ideal passing free flowing philisophy, but surely as a back up, or plan b, he has to stay?! With regards to United signing him though....have you taken your medication today?

Well Berba is apparently definitely off, so Utd's No.9 will be open Rooney and Carroll seemed quite chummy from their time with England These transfer sagas/fiascos always end up something like this, confusing as

Bugg Posted 19 July 2012 Share Posted 19 July 2012 Carroll would actually be a good addition at Man Utd (even though it wouldn't happen), they like to bombard the opposition with crosses and I think that style of play would suit him with his presence in the air. Come on, especially as Liverpool are looking for about £20 million. Its a non starter. If United sign Andy Carroll, I'll eat 10 Lion bars without being sick.
