Dan Posted 20 June 2013 Posted 20 June 2013 Be patient, ride it out and it'll come. Make your pre-match training tactics only and ramp it up to high. Grab yourself a few cheap youngsters like Adryan, Ademilson, Fischer, etc if you can free up the capital. In fact, if you can sell the Hunter and buy Gabbiadini and Ademilson with the money then groovy. I intend a clear out. Hildebrand, Uchida (possibly), Fuchs, Metzelder, Jones, Huntelaar and a lot of the dreadful back-up can go, and I won't be disappointed when Affelay, Raffael & Bastos' loans end either. I didn't get given any decent money then randomly got £5mil in October. Got Maupay joining in January although I don't intend to use him yet. Schalke always came across as a well backed club so I'm expecting a half decent budget next year.
Finnegan Posted 20 June 2013 Posted 20 June 2013 German league doesn't give huge TV or prize pay outs IIRC, so you'll want to finish in the CL places and use the money to mount a league winning push. Ademilson on a 5m release clause is phenomenal value for money though. Bring him in and alternate his pace and dribbling training and he'll score for fun. Mentoring will help though.
KFS Posted 20 June 2013 Posted 20 June 2013 I got Dover to the Championship legit, and we were getting fvcked 5/6-0 every week. Added a new manager (Man U) and bought 3 of my players for 20 mil each. I cheated, I'm sorry! They still won't let me have more than 4,200 a week on one player though...

It doesn't but I still reckon I could make these tick with money raised from players sold on top of £15mil or something. If I get under that I'll be disappointed. You ever tried Maupay? He looks absolutely ridiculous.
Finnegan Posted 20 June 2013 Posted 20 June 2013 I've only ever seen him wasted by the AI but he apparently develops well under a human player, especially on the January update database.
Dan Posted 20 June 2013 Posted 20 June 2013 I've only ever seen him wasted by the AI but he apparently develops well under a human player, especially on the January update database. He was coming along very nicely on my St Etienne game when he was at OGC Nice. I've considered starting as Nice before. They've got some class players. Eyserric looks fantastic. Definitely want Guilavogui & Aubameyang if I get the money, they were both unreal for me.
Finnegan Posted 20 June 2013 Posted 20 June 2013 I've gone for the Italians mostly on this game. Insigne, Caprari, Gabbiadini (sp?) are awesome. Florenzi is alright but doesn't develop, be interesting to properly tutor him. I started a game at Roma but didn't stick to it. The amount of talented youngsters there is incredible.
Brainy Posted 20 June 2013 Posted 20 June 2013 You get 20 odd million winning the German League. Or atleast I did in the 40's anyway

In the update his and Adryan's release clauses are around 20 million, something like that anyway.

Dan Posted 20 June 2013 Posted 20 June 2013 Not so much prize money I'm talking about, but I'm sure Schalke are quite a well backed club?
Finnegan Posted 20 June 2013 Posted 20 June 2013 Uhm, they get by and they're well run because most Bundesliga clubs are but they're no PSG or Monaco. You're not going to get big cash injections from a rich benefactor.
Narborough_fox Posted 20 June 2013 Posted 20 June 2013 Not so much prize money I'm talking about, but I'm sure Schalke are quite a well backed club? If you're looking for a "sugar daddy"... http://www.aidtheboss.com/football-manager-2013-sugar-daddy-clubs/
NewburyFox Posted 20 June 2013 Posted 20 June 2013 17 games in to our Ligue 1 season and we've won 1. We're only two points adrift as we've drawn 8 games, including 7 of the last 8. Hopefully pick up some wins soon!
Dan Posted 20 June 2013 Posted 20 June 2013 Ps: ein leben lang, keine schale in der hand! Auf der hellen Seite, kann ich zugeben, im Scheiße (I didn't use Google Translate)* *(I might've done) If you're looking for a "sugar daddy"... http://www.aidtheboss.com/football-manager-2013-sugar-daddy-clubs/ Ah cheers. Schalke not under that list at all. Didn't realise Vitesse were in the money.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 20 June 2013 Posted 20 June 2013 Jumped ship after six games from Guingamp to Serie A Palermo. Have a lot more financial freedom here time to **** shit up
Fox92 Posted 20 June 2013 Posted 20 June 2013 Won the league. 100 points exactly. I did inherit a very good squad, but still. Looking forward to only my second season in the Prem.
Dan Posted 21 June 2013 Posted 21 June 2013 Won every game bar one in 2013 so far, dominating them all. Seems to have clicked out of nowhere - even Huntelaar's beginning to bang them in for fun and he seems genuinely happy. Finners, tell me something here. I've set Huntelaar to tutor Maupay, have I made the right move? They're different styles of player as Maupay is a lot quicker but I think Maupay's technical attributes such as finishing should improve rapidly with his tutoring, so I just took a gamble. I love how I've put a 17 year old Meyer in the team and he's completely outdoing Affelay & Raffael. My team now; Howard Uchida - Matip - Howedes - Bastos Neustadter - Hoger Farfan - Meyer - Draxler Huntelaar Uchida's totally won me over. I'm really surprised at how much he seems to have improved. Still unimpressed with the left backs though as neither of them can defend, and I'll be looking at one in the summer - might try a cheeky bid for Baines should we be well backed, and should Everton go down like they always do. Papadopoulos winds me up. His attributes have him as one of the best defenders on the game yet he's constantly outperformed by Matip, and Howedes is very decent. Matip's averaged 8.3 in 11 games, he's been amazing. Hard to pick two though as you've got those two and another very decent young centre half in Kolasinac. The midfield's average but to its credit it's performing well. Neustadter can stay for a while as he's very capable of the job I set him doing. Hoger's playing pretty well but I'm definitely aiming for a better player there eventually. Farfan's sorted out his greediness and is now a very decent winger. Meyer looks a cracking player and I've got nowt to lose by playing him over Affelay & Raffael who are both irritatingly inconsistent. Draxler is good, but not amazing, but he'll improve in time. Huntelaar as I say is finally hitting form. Our other forward options are diabolical but I think Maupay will come good for me in time. Plan for next year, assuming I get a relatively decent budget; Outs; Hildebrand, Fahrmann, Kyei, Metzelder, Caillas, Moritz, Pliatsikas, Obasi, Edu, Pukki & Bastos, Affelay & Raffael to return to their parent clubs. Ins; RB for rotation, first choice left back, midfielder who controls games and plenty of other cover, preferably aged around 20. Getting into this one.
Finnegan Posted 21 June 2013 Posted 21 June 2013 Tutoring is much more simple than you give it credit for. The technical and physical stats of a tutor are irrelevant. Even most of the mental stats mean **** all. A tutee won't pick up bravery, composure or creativity from a tutor - for example - and he certainly won't pick up finishing or passing, etc. The one, key attribute you'll improve from tutoring is determination. Tutoring shapes personality and not much else. If a mentor has less determination than the student then never, ever do it. Rule of thumb, the more determination and work rate a player has, the more his stats improve. Tutoring also has an effect on professionalism (which also helps training), ambition and possibly consistency though the last one I'm not 100% on. In my experience, when a young player is happy, getting first team football and has a good tutor improving his determination, that's when he has massive improvements in his stats across the board. Remember that game time, form and morale all contribute to whether a players stats go up.
Finnegan Posted 21 June 2013 Posted 21 June 2013 Oh and tutors also pass on preferred moves so any tutor with negative ones should be avoided if possible. Or, try what I do. Sign Jelle Vossen (probably the best ST tutor on the game) but have your youngsters learn to place shots BEFORE he teaches them. Then they won't pick up shoots with power. A good tutor is so vital I signed Vossen essentially as a coach and never played him on one save . In my experience, Abel Hernandez is also good (work rate doesn't rub off on a student.) Er, and if my hunch is correct and Hunter has like 10 determination, stop the tutoring immediately.
NewburyFox Posted 21 June 2013 Posted 21 June 2013 I had a mare with tutoring a few days ago. I had a striker with 14 determination tutor a regen with 18 determination. Never seen a stat plummet so quickly!
indierich06 Posted 21 June 2013 Posted 21 June 2013 Started another game unemployed and got the Palace job in November with them circling the drain. Their squad is already very good and they have a little bit of money to spend in January (presumably thanks to the £15 million from the Zaha deal), so I was able to strengthen a bit - got both Danny Batth and David Davis from Wolves to shore up defence and give me a bit of presence in midfield and they've both been key, but the best performers in the entire squad were Jon Williams, who was an absolute beast in attacking midfield in a 451 and scored about 20 goals - and Zaha, who I moved up front to play at the peak of a 451 as a poacher and absolutely destroyed everyone he played against, we're talking 25 goals in half a season and getting hattricks every other game. It was insane. Worst thing is, I got promoted via the playoffs and now he's gone back to Man United! Might see if I can get him back on loan for my first season in the PL... There's going to be a big clear out now and I'm aiming to make Crystal Palace the top club in London within 15 years, hopefully sooner. In the past I'd be keeping my eye out for a big job, but I really want to build this club up and stay here for the lifespan of this save. The last time I did that was with a Leeds save a few years ago where I built them up from League 1 to one of the best teams in the country, and it was the best game I ever had on FM.
