Both play boring style football, enjoy yourselves Forest! lol

But McLeish and McCarthy have both got teams out of this division before. Wolves won the league, and Birmingham came second but conceded fewer goals. I rekon both of them would be good appointments for our division, certainly better than Darren Ferguson.

Was speaking to a Forest fan at work, he started off by chanting, "we are richer than you" and then said he would like McCarthy.

He thought Pearson will make us a tougher proposition this season and then went off to bait my shift manager who is a Derby fan lol

i told him to say he had heard a rumour Nigel was moving lol

A standard "we don't care" would suffice as a reply.

hope everyone laid some money down on mccarthy. i put £20 on when he was 14/1 - hoping it comes off!

McMick had ruled himself out of the running.

BREAKING NEWS: SSN

ahh bollocks! haha. knew i'd jinx it by posting about my bet!

Might not be true, there was so much BREAKING NEWS that MM might've won a stage of the Tour De France whilst a cyclist ruled themselves out of the manager's job.

BBC linky

Which essentially says, "And although some reports have suggested McCarthy has ruled himself out of the job, there was no official comment from Forest or the 53-year-old."

So the circus continues. There seems to be a growing clamour for the return of the "Scottish coach". This would be a bad thing in my humble opinion and I'm not sure I could deal with 'brand Billy' a second time round.

Massive tit though.

I wouldn't care who we had as long as he brought us success.

A lot of us wanted him to replace Sven last year.

Posted

I can understand that. He did a decent job keeping us up and pushing on for playoffs in the following years (and all for around 15/20m). But it was all about brand Davis. We were pretty terrible away from home, choosing to hold onto a nil-nil rather then be any sort of threat. A few more away victories, and they were there to be had, would've have seen us avoid the playoffs altogether!

Then there's his frankly bizarre play off team selection. It was one of those 'genius if it worked' type things.

He's marginally above Di Canio in my list of managers I want.

Forests situation is alot like Leicesters situation when we appointed Sven.

Billy Davies is similar to Pearson in that he was the most recent successful manager and did so without huge funding but has sections of the support who are lukewarm to him.

I would still go for the proven option if i were an owner and chase McLeish/McCarthy. Davies is an option though.

Sections of our fans love BIlly. Beyond all reason and seemingly forgetting how annoying and bad he was at times. Also, he spent a fortune. He was happy to pay Boyd 25/30k a week and then not bother playing him in any important games.

I too would go for a proven manager. There seems to be a few available and as far as I'm concerned, the manager is the most important person on the playing side of things. Get that right, and everything else should follow.

It's similar to us with Pearson. He was far better, far away from the dross we had before. He gave the fans something to look forward to rather than dread.

Lil Bill took you from strugglers to play-offs. Pearson took us from the depths of League One to the play-offs. Both in very quick time.

You look at the support Pearson has on here. Most of it is down to what went before.

McCarthy out of the running, doubt it would be Hoddle now he's denied any approach. In some ways this indicates McLeish because he was tipped for the job straight away the job came vacant, neither Forest or McLeish have denied this or said anything at all. Davies return to Forest seems unlikely, it would be a backward step for forest.

I don't understand why they would go for McLeish hes not really done anything in the last 2 seasons apart from relegate Birmingham and nearly do the same with Aston Villa.

I originally said Redknapp but I would say now they will end up with Roy Keane a fans favourite

I'm still surprised Forest haven't gone for Holloway an attacking manager who gets everyone in the team playing, I know when he was here it didn't work out, though I would say Mandaric is most to blame for our relegation to league one.

i think forest will do very well this season.

they now have money, will probably get mick who is a top manager.

will be able to bring some big players and they will probably raid wolves.

i reckon they will finish around the play-offs. probably 5th is my guess.

hope i am wrong :fc: :fc: :fc:
