Matt Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 Well London 2012 is coming to a close. Gotta say i've been very surprised, how well it has gone and how much i've enjoyed it. I don't usually like opening ceremonys but it was done perfectly and really enjoyed it, I've never really got involved with they Olympics in past years gone by, but i've watched most of the events and really enjoyed them. I'm actually sad to see the end of it all, something I didn't think i'd be saying. Ever since it was announced we had won the bid I though it would plugged and plugged and plugged, but I don't think it was over-hyped at all. Will the closing ceremony be as good as the opening ceremony? Rumours of the The Who, Beady Eye performing Wonderwall, the Spice Girls...
EnderbyFox Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 Rumours going round that there will be a hologram of Freddie Mercury
ithuriel Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 Exactly what time does the closing ceremony begin ?
Trav Le Bleu Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 Seconded. Dunno about the closing ceremony - with the number of musical acts rumoured I'm becoming suspicious that it might just be a big stadium gig for old bands.
sdb Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 Starts at 9 i think. I wasn't excited at all by the prospect of it but i've absolutely loved it.
Webbo Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 It's been a fantastic Olympics, far exceeded expectation, loved every minute.
davieG Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 Apparently Coldplay's gonna perform... They're definitely closing the Paralympic Ceremony While the Olympic closing ceremony's musical acts remain secret, British band Coldplay have been officially announced as headliner for the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympic Games. They will take to the stage at the Olympic Stadium on 9 September for the ceremony, titled Festival of Flame. Frontman Chris Martin called it "a great honour" and said the band were "very happy to be involved". The band will be joined by more than 2,000 performers at the event. Can't say I'm all that keen on a Full on musical concert to close a sporting event but I'm sure it will be 'spectacular'
Trav Le Bleu Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 The band will be joined by more than 2,000 performers at the event. Earth, Wind and Fire?

pSinatra Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 Earth, Wind and Fire? would prefer this over Coldplay
Webbo Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 The Spice Girls and Take That will be part of the show.
pSinatra Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 The Spice Girls and Take That will be part of the show. Why??? I was chuffed to bits the future Sir Gary Barlow played no part at the opening ceremony. He makes my skin crawl!!! At least seeing Posh pouting & pointing will be good for a laugh
ousefox Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 Seconded. Dunno about the closing ceremony - with the number of musical acts rumoured I'm becoming suspicious that it might just be a big stadium gig for old bands. This would be the perfect end to a successful Olympics. Apparently Ray Davies is also playing which would be fantastic
Corky Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 Please please please, no more Paul McCartney...........ever!!! Blasphemy
Leicfox Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 Celebrating 50 yrs of British pop music, it should be great. It's been a great effort by London, one of the best Olympics ever apart from the seating bollox to begin with.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 This would be the perfect end to a successful Olympics. Apparently Ray Davies is also playing which would be fantastic Why? The olympics is a showcase for your best current athletes - not veteran pastmasters. What have musical acts from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s got to do with the 2012 Olympics? Indeed, what has music got to do with the olympics?
