Is that it for signings then?

From what I saw on Saturday Parkes can cover any CB issues.

Better to give one of our own youngsters experience than borrow someone else's unwanted or younger player.

A few days ago I would have said we needed a back-up CB on loan, even if just for a few months. But I think I've been won over by Moore as a CB, no harm in giving him a chance till we get Whitbread fit and St.Ledger back from injury.

Definitely. If he plays like he did against Sunderland I'd happily have him fill the position for now - looked very experienced and composed.

While it is nice to hear of new signings, I think the squad is sorted now - and Pearson did say he prefers a smaller and more manageable squad. Means less players who are unlikely to ever play, and financial benefits from not having to pay such players

I missed the Sunderland game but really pleased with all the positive feedback in Moore. He looked good in the couple of games he played last year, and if he continues to develop then this season will be exciting.

NP won't sign any unless we have to, and it doesn't look like we do. Haven't we got ages before the loan window closes anyway?

The problem with a loan player is that their parent club will want them to play - that's the whole idea of a loan. Unless it is a one month loan, then I don't see any loan player being more than 4th choice once Whitbread and SSL return. I'm happy enough that Moore and Morgan are good enough in the interim - I can't believe Whitbread is too far from full fitness and may well be able to be on the bench as he could cope with 30 - 45 minutes as a sub. I suppose the problem comes if either Moore or Morgan get injured 10 minutes into the game v Peterborough.

If NP thinks he has things right thats good enough for me. Particularly tough league this season but I think we will be up in the mixer come the end!

looks like it , shame Sven blew all the money away on shite players , leaving NP to rebuild the club

Like Danns, Nugent, Schmeichel, Konchesky, St Ledger, and Beckford?

Yeah, complete shite that will still make the first team.

I see Danny shittu went to millwall on a free transfer yesterday, he wouldn't been a bad back up option?

No way slow hoofball lump must be getting on abit too the name says it all

Wait until the season starts, see which prem players are left warming benches and try to get one on loan.

Yeah, complete shite that will still make the first team.

They were with a total spend of about 5-6 million...

then there was mills, ball, johnson, pantsil and peltier.. all of which utter shite with a combined fee of about 6-7 million, so shite outweighs good, cheers Sven.

Parkes has a carried over suspension from last season so he'll miss the first 2 games

Pelletier was a decent player, just wasn't going to be first choice this year so trying his luck elsewhere good luck to him.

Mills obviously had a falling out with Pearson which is why he's left but again not a bad player

Ball, Johnson and pantsil never really got a chance to prove themselves

Sevens main problem was the size of his squad and I don't believe he knew his best 11 which left uncertainty within the players,

NP has a nice manageable squad size which every player will have a part to play this year

We got used to signing a lot under Sven but in honesty the 4-5 players we have signed is probably about the correct amount to add to it

Let's stop questioning the team and talk about the quality we now have in all positions because I am extremely optimistic for the season

I think Pearson will have a look over the next couple of weeks and may add 1 or 2 more on 31st August, deadline day, as well as losing a couple (Gallagher and Waghorn would be my predictions to leave). I also think Kennedy will be sold to Peterborough after the weekend and 3 or 4 of the youngsters will go out on loan. (Taft, Burns, Panayatou, Hopper, Smith, Bolger are all possibilities)

Just seen this on SSN...

"After speculation that Michael Owen is set for a return to Merseyside with Everton we are now seeing money for another former Anfield man, Emile Heskey, to join the Toffees. We are into 5/1 from 16/1 this morning. Leicester remain favourites to sign the striker at 5/4"

Just means a lot of people have put money on him to come back to us, doesn't mean anything though as he isn't coming back just bookies covering their backs because of the amount of money put on

Why on earth would we sell any of them? Sell Gallagher and who have we got for cover on the RW? Sell Kennedy and who have we got for cover at LB? We've got a lot of striking options, but Waghorn is still a decent squad player.

I really don't understand why people are looking for us to sell any more players? Pearson has set a lot of the dross packing, brought in a few quality players and the squad is now at a really good, manageable level. Why would we possibly want to leave ourselves short again?

It's not a question of why I am looking to sell them - both Kennedy and Gallagher are mid to late 20's and will want first team football - I think, along with Waghorn, when they realise they aren't first team players they'll ask for a transfer. De Laet can play left back along with Schlupp too. Both Marshall and Knockaert can play right side and Dyer has also played there too!
