Is that it for signings then?

It's not a question of why I am looking to sell them - both Kennedy and Gallagher are mid to late 20's and will want first team football - I think, along with Waghorn, when they realise they aren't first team players they'll ask for a transfer. De Laet can play left back along with Schlupp too. Both Marshall and Knockaert can play right side and Dyer has also played there too!

I really don't think Kennedy will be leaving. He's been happy as backup for two years. Why would he all of a sudden realise he isn't a first team player now? De Laet can cover LB, but then we'd need Moore at RB, and that leaves us with only Morgan at CB. We've only got five senior defenders available currently, and that's including the inexperienced Moore, so I can't see any of them being sold any time soon.

I did think Gallagher would want to leave, but the transfer window has been open a while, and he's still here, so maybe he's happy to fight for his place. I think Waghorn will realise he has to work his way back into the team after his injury, and I think he'll probably be staying with us for now.

I think the squad looks about right now when everyone's fit. I don't think there'll be many more sold or bought. Maybe a defender on loan, but that's about it, I think.

I would say that's about spot on.

It appears that Nige is pretty much satisfied with his squad, they seem to be quite content that this season is going to be 'a squad effort'. Barring injury to key personnel ( eg Morgan), which may see Pearson bringing in someone on loan, I think that's probably about it...

it was rumoured Zak was in contention tonight (but i doubt it), with Parkes suspended, any injuries to Morgan or Moore tonight we may be forced into loan market

I would bring Heskey back just so he can retire happy and back where it all began. Isn't that what was said he wanted to do anyway?

Bringing Heskey back would be pointless now

Kennedy was on loan at Peterborough last year and had a agreed a move until he got injured. It was probably the return of Pearson that gave him hope. I can't believe any professional footballer (Logan apart) who move to a Club, hardly ever play and are in the prime of their career can be happy at not playing. As I said, it's not a matter of wanting to sell, but rather these players knocking on the managers door and asking to leave.

The point you make about the transfer window being open a while is not that relevant IMO as Gallagher and Waghorn are fighting for first team places - come 31st August and if they haven't been involved I can see them wanting first team football.

The point about De Laet being able to play left back is cover, as is Schlupp. Moore is the cover for right back, as could SSL be, when fit.

I see your point, but there are players in their prime who realise that they are backup and are happy to wait for their chance. I think Kennedy is one of those players.

Maybe you're right, but we don't know what they've been told or what they're thinking. They might play a part, they might want to move, or they might be patient.

That's all pretty irrelevant. Even if all five of the senior defenders currently available could cover any position across the defence, it wouldn't make any difference to the numbers. There's still only five of them, and we can't afford to sell any at the moment.

With only two weeks before the window shuts I just can't see why a player would ask to leave having not played between now and then. In January maybe but not after two weeks.

It could happen but seems unlikely

All players who wont give him the grief he cannot handle.

We ain't going up, that's a certainty. We now really do have a shit squad, to match our so called manager. :yesyes: :yesyes:

I think you'd be much more content following a team from Manchester, take your pick.

Hmm. The squad is reasonable. A couple of gaps remain but I think we are in a better place this season. Some experience. Some young, hungry players. Probably a couple of loan additions.

Can't see another permanent signing.

Was everyone's optimism bringing you down?

Where did you read that?

Or did you make it up?

I can't believe people think our squad is 'shit' this year... they need to start playing some FIFA, then they'll realise how good it is when you force yourself to leave the likes of Danns, Nugent and King on the bench. :P

god this is the time for optomism not the negativity i think we have as good a chance as anyone to finish into the top 6, lets get behind the team

Naughton on loan would be better!

I can't see this a realistic possibility as he has been given the no 16 shirt in the Spurs squad. Moreover, it would mean dropping De Laet or playing him away from a position from which he's made a very good start.
