How many fans do you think youll bring?

Assuming it's an evening game, maybe 400-500? I wouldn't be surprised if we actually brought quite a lot of Derby hangers-on though, which could bump it up considerably.

Burton fan here, pleased with this draw. Good night out for us and I daresay it will not be 'easy' for you. Sheff United thought the same thing at the weekend at Bramall Lane (and they did play their full 1st team). Sure you should win the tie but if you put out kids or reserves I'd fancy our chances more often than not. Looking forward to it.

Judging by the squad we put out last night were taking this cup seriously so I wouldnt expect us to field a bunch of youngsters or reserves

Great tie. I was born and bred in Burton so always keep my eye on them. I suppose if I had a second team it would be Burton. Think we should get through and will be good for Burton too so good all round. And if we lose I can pretend to be a Brewer and laugh at you all!

Come on you Foxes!

Burnley got to the Semi-Final of the League Cup the year they won promotion to the Premier League. A good cup run can be a positive, certainly it's a lot better for the team to have a good cup run than to get knocked out at home to Burton Albion.

Not to mention Cardiff getting to the final last year and finishing 6th.

Derby fans don't even go to Derby games do they?!

Ugh. Hope we play a young / second string side. If we're making a serious bid for top four, people can't seriously want a cup run? Especially not in the league cup...

Why not? Palace played Cardiff in the semis last year, it's a great opportunity for a Championship club to give a decent go at a cup.

First time I can remember that a draw has been met with almost universal approval, especially a home match against a lower division side

We have a squad big enough and good enough to compete in all 3 competitions.

I'd agree with that if we had SSL and Whitbread available, or signed one more defender. I think the squad is about the right size and quality, but we're down to the bare bones in defence at the moment.

There's a big difference between Leicester and the shower that you beat on Saturday but congratulations on your win.

Great chance to progress.

Hopefully they'll make the tickets cheap and try to get in as many as possible.

any one know if cup games are free for season ticket holders....?????

Success in the cup often entails success in the league.

The phrase "concentrate on the league" is one of the worst by-products of modern football. Knockout competitions are one of the only things that keep me interested in the sport nowadays.

There's nothing like a good cup run. So long as you have the squad depth to cope, it can breed confidence on and off the field. Can be a good money spinner as well.

I strongly doubt there were many Cardiff fans saying 'it's only the Carling Cup' while walking down Wembley Way last season.

This tie, with all due respect to Burton, gives us an excellent chance of taking the next step towards just such a cup run.

I have to agree.

I feel a second string team would still have the quality to progress.

I wouldn't be so sure to be perfectly honest with you. Your first team should do us over 9 times out of 10, sure, but put your second string out and I'd fancy us more often than not, even if you've got a decent squad.

And yes, Kev Poole is still on our coaching team. He is a Burton legend too. Amazing bloke and class goalkeeper.

Our second string isn't a much weaker side. If you take last night's starting line up as the first team, the second string would include Nugent, King, Danns, Gallagher, Knockaert, maybe even Whitbread will be ready, so it's not a youth/reserve side by any means.

You'd reckon you'd be favourites to beat a team with players like Nugent, Danns, King, Gallagher, Whitbread, Kennedy, Futacs in it?

No offense, but I think even our 'second string' would have the quality to turn over a league 2 side if they play to their full, or would you turn down Nugent, King, Dyer, St Ledger, Kennedy, Futacs, Gallagher, etc at Burton?
