Player Ratings- Wolves (a)

Recommended Posts

Can you provide a reason for Waggy getting a 7 and Drinkwater an 8? I agree, but it would be good to hear an outsider's perspective.

Waghorn gave you something different, more physical against a big defence, caused havoc.

Drinkwater played really well IMO. Pulled all the strings, finds pockets of space, picks up the ball and distributes well. Really helped bring others into the game.

Kasper 6 - Looked shaky early on and distribution was poor at times, made some decent saves however.

De Laet - 6 Ball watching for their second and got skinned early on several times, put in a good performance second half although misplaced a few crosses.

Morgan - 8 Solid and the only defender to have a good game.

Moore - 3 Worst performance on the pitch, constantly gave the ball away and cost us a goal.

Konchesky - 6 Would have got a 5 for his defensive efforts which were poor although he scored a cracking goal.

Marshall - 6 Never found a killer ball and often took too long to either cross pass or shoot.

King -7 / James - 6 King looked good early on before his injury, James didn't effect the game very much although made few mistakes.

Drinkwater - 6 Kept the flow of the game going well at time but misplaced a few passes and looked dreadful when attempting shots.

Dyer - 5 Knockaert - 8 Dyer played a nice ball to Nugent but that was his sole contribution in 45 minutes. Knockaert changed the flow of the game with his skillful running and passing.

Nugent - 4 Not involved for too much of the game and missed any chances he received.

Vardy - 6 / Waghorn - 6 Vardy performed the role of hounding the opposition fairly well and was close to getting on the end of a few balls but lacked quality at times. Waghorn improved the physical presence of the attack but again lacked quality and narrowly missed a golden opportunity.

We didn't hammer them, they went 2-0 up and then we were in their half for most of the second half. Hammering them would be dominating for 90 minutes and creating numerous great chances. But we didn't. We were worse than them in the first half and couldn't hang on to the ball, and then in the second we saw a lot of the ball and did mostly nothing with it.

We deserved to lose that game, absolutely no complaints.

100% didn't deserve to lose that.

Kasper - 6 - Maybe could he have got the second.

De Laet - 6

Morgan - 7 - Solid as usual

Moore - 6

Konchesky - 6 Amazing goal, that's it really.

Marshall - 6

King- N/A

Drinkwater - 7 - Shooting let him down, that's all. Not too bad.

Dyer - 4 - I'll continue to say what I've always said, not good enough.

Nugent - 5 - Seemed frustrated, but should have got his shot on target.

Vardy - 5

James - 5

Knockaert - 7 - Caused Wolves a massive problem.

Waghorn - 6 - Offers more strength than Vardy. Unlucky not to score.

Schmeichel 6 - Felt he could have done better with the first.

De Laet 5 - Mixed bag

Morgan 8 - Individually excellent, but has to take a lot of the blame for our inability to defend any set pieces.

Moore 5 - Not his best game

Konchesky 4 - Great after the goal, beyond

awful before it.

Marshall 7 - Looks better on the right. Our only

real goal threat in the first half.

King 6 - Did ok until he had to come off.

Drinkwater 3 - I think he thought we were

playing in old gold.

Dyer 3 - Nothing performance

Nugent 3 - Huffed, puffed, played crap.

Vardy 3 - Looked barely Conference standard.

Subs:

James 6 - Meh

Knockaert 7 -Threatened frequently but was also frequently guilty of over-elaboration.

Waghorn 6 - Should have scored but our best striker today.

That was by far our worst display of the season in the league.

100% didn't deserve to lose that.

When we conceded the goals we conceded and are 2-0 down within 20 minutes, we deserve to lose.

When our best effort was from our left back, we deserve to lose.

When only about 2 of our players played well, we deserve to lose.

Schmeichel 6 - Nothing brilliant, nothing awful. Sometimes a little too eager with his distribution.

De Laet 5 - Poor first half, decent second. Not so great on his defensive duties though.

Morgan 7 - Sometimes over confident in his footballing abilities.

Moore 5 - Worst game he has had for us so far. Hopefully a blip.

Konchesky 5 - So, so poor (goal aside).

Marshall 7 - Some good balls in. Wingers should put the ball into a dangerous area and he did that time and time again.

King 6 - Nothing to really rate him on. Best of a bad bunch until he came off.

Drinkwater 5 - Really poor from him and some awful shooting.

Dyer 5 - Didn't really see much of him at all. Bit of a passenger.

Nugent 5 - Needs a goal or two to boost confidence.

Vardy 5 - Dangerous in the air but ineffectual today.

Subs:

James 6 - Did a solid job when he came on, nothing outstanding.

Knockaert 8 - Most dangerous player on the pitch.

Waghorn 6 - Should have scored, could do with some Slim-fast.

From Molineux.

Schmeichel 5 Spilt a lot of shots and hurried too many clearances.

De Laet 4 Awful at the back and wasteful going forward. Nowhere near an improvement on Peltier.

Morgan 8 MOTM. A rock, let down badly by his 3 fellow defenders.

Moore 5 Out of his depth. Bullied by Ebanks-Blake and Doyle.

Konchesky 5 Bonus point for his goal. Weak link at the back again.

Marshall 6 A few good crosses and efforts on goal. Too greedy though, needs to learn he doesn't have to do it all himself.

Drinkwater 5 Very wasteful in possession.

King 6 N/A

Dyer 4 Totally ineffective. Time for a seat on the bench.

Nugent 5 Lots of huffing and puffing. Missed a simple header again. Don't think his partnership with Vardy works, needs a seat on the bench on Wednesday.

Vardy 4 Really, really disappointing. No influence on the game at all and didn't show his usual endeavour.

James 5 Largely anonymous. Lots of sideways passing.

Knockaert 6 Nothing really came off for him but sparked us into life second half.

Waghorn 5 Missed a fantastic chance to equalise.

Absolutely baffled by some of these ratings. Can't believe most of you chaps have been watching the same game.

Schmeichel - 6 (questionable distribution at times, a couple of par for the course stops)

De Laet - 4 (how is anyone giving him more? Repeatedly done by the winger, to blame for a goal, skied a handful of crosses. Has absolutely no positional sense whatsoever)

Moore - 5 (really not as diabolical as people are making out. Didn't always mark well, but are people singling him out for the near own goal? This is a young right back playing centre half and, while it wasn't a great display, it certainly wasn't a catastrophe)

Morgan - 7 (solid but gets put under a lot of pressure by the incompetence of the rest)

Konchesky - 6 (a 4 until his goal, which should have turned the game. Then he looked back to his old self. Low on confidence)

Marshall - 6 (largely out of the game in the first half, well below par second half. Yet he put in a clutch of crosses which should have brought a goal and a shot which, on another day, might have gone in. A direct player in a team which is far too indirect at times)

Drinkwater - 7 (the criticism of him is frankly staggering. Apart from a smattering of hospital passes when we were chasing the game, he looked tidy enough to me. Can't shoot, sadly)

King - 7 (seemed to be doing fine until he picked up an injury)

Dyer - 6 (largely out of the game, but occasionally showed a burst of pace. Pearson's persistence with him could end up costing the boss his job, but that isn't a reason to give the guy a 4)

Vardy - 6 (not entirely awful but he needs to sharpen up his first touch. The supply from out wide was poor, mostly in the air and easily plucked out by physically superior Wolves defenders. Vardy works hard, but he needed to scrap for the ball more in the box)

Nugent - 6 (again, not really sure why he's getting slated so much. The supply wasn't great and if he'd scored his header it would have been a very good strike. I think with the sort of balls we're putting in from wide we might be better off with a target man)

James - 7 (looked very tidy to me, didn't give the ball away and was willing to get stuck in)

Knockaert - 8 (our only truly excellent performance, he needs to start games. We made chances when he came on. He's very direct and, as we got more desperate, that led him to make some rash decisions, but there's immense potential)

Waghorn - 6 (did well when he came. To me hitting the post isn't unlucky, it's wasteful, but I suspect he might have done better had he been on from the start. That said, I was surprised we didn't go for Futacs instead, judging by the way the play was going)

Knockaert was our best player, De Laet was ok, the rest of them were poor.

The praise of De Laet is astonishing to me. I thought it was a truly woeful performance; constantly caught out of position, easily done by the winger, to blame for a goal. Looked like an amateur.

Moore might not have been great but he's a right back, let's see him play right back with Whitbread in the centre. The last four games De Laet has played we've conceded 2 to 4 goals and I'm beginning to believe it's not a coincidence.

Schmeichel - 7 - No chance with the goals. Great save from Doyle 1st half

De Laet - 5 - Real mixed bag. Threat going forward and put in 2 excellent crosses, though put in some awful crosses also, and defensively was shocking

Moore - 5 - Good prospect but up against decent experienced strikers, and it showed

Morgan - 5 - Gave away some stupid freekicks. You carnt always win the ball ! Just stand your ground

Konchesky - 5 - Very loose with passes, poor crosses, shocking for 1st goal. Gets some points for goal

Marshall - 6 - Flashed in and out of the game. Needs to become more influential. Dont just hug the touchline, come inside between the lines

Drinkwater - 4 - Lack of discipline in midfield, needs to hold position, awful decision making

James - 7 - Did the simple things well, kept the ball moving in 2nd half

Dyer - 6 - Looked ok 1st half. Didnt get enough of the ball

Knockaert - 8 - Looks class, Has to start now. Can play anywhere behind striker

Vardy & Nugent - 5 - Seemed to just be going through the motions, poor hold up play, both making same runs away from the ball. 1 has to come short

Was at the game.

Kasper - 7 - some good saves, kicking was good could not have done anything with the goals.

De Laet - 5 - better end of 2nd half, but otherwise absolutely awful, positionally poor and passing poor.

Morgan - 8 - saved us defensively many times. A rock.

Moore - 7 - sometimes shaky but generally recovered well immediately after making an error.

Konchesky - 6 - much like de laet but +1 for outstanding goal.

Dyer - 4 - offered nothing

Drinkwater - 4 - hindered us massively, misplaced passes and slowed every single attack down when on the ball. Not the same player today.

King - 4 - did nothing and then got subbed.

Marshall - 6 - at times the only attacking threat, sometimes rash with decision, very mixed with crosses

Vardy - 4 - offered absolutely nothing and is so static! Replaced on weds please.

Nugent - 5.5 - huffed and puffed and missed the goal. Needs confidence, ref didn't help him though.

James - 7 - helped change the second half and was excellent in possession, no mistakes and did the simple things well.

Knockaert - 9 - got to start on weds. Ran at defenders and scared the sh*t out of the opposition.

Waggy - 7 - offered way more movement upfront. Should have scored but got into better positions than the other forwards. More encouraging than other recent performances.

Konch - 6 - awful defending for their 1st, great goal.

Moore - 5 - looked shaky.

Morgan - 7 - charestically solid.

De Laet - 4 - ball watching for their second and seemed slow to react throughout.

Dyer - 5 - Knockaert is simply twice the player.

King - 6 - looked lively before injury.

Drinkwater - 5 - gave it away too much and shooting was wayward.

Marshall - 7 - good, as ever, but can't do everything by himself

Nugent - 5 - did nothing other than miss some good oppurtunitys.

Vardy - 6 - worked hard but needs someone to link up with

James - 6 - competent.

Knockaert - 7 - HAS to start from now on, changed the game.

Waghorn - 6 - offered more than Nugent but perhaps should have scored.

Konchesky 4-Great goal but apart from that poor passes at time and way off his man

Marshall 5-He can be so greedy and why he shot from that freekick

King 6-Some good runs before having to go off

Drinkwater 4-Over rated on here, infuriating player

Kasper - 6 - Good saves, couldn't boss a defence to save his life though

Konch - 5 - His usual level if shitness, could have seen red, gave a goal away then has nothing but hoofball in him going forward. +5 up from zero for a cracker

Moore - 5 - Looked risky today, suppose that will always be the case when you've got a liability outside you.

Morgan - 7 - Tank. As usual

De Laet - 5 - Weak at the back, crossing was off until late on when he found his range

Dyer - 6 - Team never played for him to run onto, his key skill, pace was wasted, covered Konch well & held shape to maintain width

King - 7 - Mopping up at the back & breaking with creativity when on the front foot, sorely missed late on when we were in the game more

Drinkwater - 5 - Please NEVER shoot again

Marshall - 7 - Weak by his standards, crossing was too floated with no pace, made space & was still ok though

Nugent - 5 - Made poor decision, for the first time his general all-round team-play fell to bits too

Vardy - 6 - Was poor by his high standards today, ball just never ran for him

James - 6 - Looked ok - But I'm still to gauge what his strengths are

Knockaert - 7 - Knocky was damn good, but Wolves were falling off him allowing him to slot balls though until last 5mins when they closed him down & he was ineffective again, would like to see him start, but other than today Dyer has been key source of danger.

Waghorn - 6 - Looked lively was a tad unlucky with the post, would start in favour of Nugent next time out.

Schmeichel - 6.5 - Couldn't do much for the goals, was pretty average.

De Laet - 6.5 - Looked decent going forward.

Morgan - 7 - Our best defender. Seemed solid.

Moore - 6 - Absolute schoolboy mistake which led to the corner for the 2nd goal. Would've been a goal anyway if it wasn't for a great save.

Konchesky - 5 - Great goal, but absolutely woeful for most of it. Got us back in the game, but it was his mistake for the first goal and his passing was shocking. Excellent strike was his only saving grace.

Marshall - 6 - Ineffective, tried to get involved but didn't do much in all honesty.

Drinkwater - 5 - Couldn't find a blue shirt for his life.

King - N/A - Barely played.

Dyer - 6 - Looked a threat at times. Was marked out the game pretty quick.

Nugent - 3 - Absolute garbage. Don't have to say too much, he was just shite. Struggled to have any impact.

Vardy - 4 - Not much better. Ineffective.

Subs:

James - 5

Waghorn - N/A

Knockaert - 7.5
