4-2-3-1 anyone?

Pearsons favourite 4-4-2 looks like we going the hard way about winning games, only by 1 goal. Knocky and Marshall R+LAM, means there a bit more central and more involved in play with more chances to shoot? Bit wasted on the wings imo when they want to shoot not cross. Also CDM may suit Drinkwater and James more as there not really the scoring type and could help to maintain clean sheets, opinions?

Kasper

Moore - Morgan - SSL - Schlupp

James - Drinkwater

Marshall - Knockaert - Dyer

Forward

Would be my pick, putting King in for either James or Drinky when fit

Away from home bring Konch in or even play him CB instead of SSL anyway... and keep Dyer on the bench to come on second half and run against tired legs.

We played that 2nd half today..

Nugent

Marshall Knockaert Vardy.

I really struggled to work out our second half formation - think you may be right with that call.

Just a question regarding Schlupp at LB. Konch is by far the best LB at the club and most consistent so why bring Schlupp who in my opinion is not ready for that position. Surely giving Schlupp time to develop in training and practice/ development matches and getting him familiar with that role would be better. Apart from that I would agree with that choice of team.

Reason was, prior to tonight Konch had 6 awful games out of 6, he looks shot... dives in recklessly leaving opposing wingers just skirt past him and have a clear run at our CBs...

Saying that, people have said he was better tonight, so lets hope that continues because if he's back near his best it's a no brainer that Konch plays... Although I think Schlupp could be almost like a Kyle Naughton figure bombing up & down the left flank and giving him game-time will help him develop

I thought he played well tonight .... seemed to have the energy and full pitch length sprints that were his trademark back.

To be fair Konch has been below par, but so has much of the defense. But tonight he supported the attack well and defended really well too. And I apologise, thought you posted that after the game tonight :)

On to the point about Schlupp, he does have that attacking side to him, so that should in effect help him when 1 v 1 against a winger in a defensive role, as he knows how to take people on he can also snuff them out. I just feel that he would be a liability to our defense as he might be too attack minded, which would leave us short at the back. He would be decent cover, but who knows he could turn out to be of a similar player to Ashley Cole.

Now then, chaps. Hull fan here. Has Pearson ever played such a positive formation? He bored the fans here to death, to the point that I once nodded off - albeit momentarily - at one of our games under him. I thought all he knew was to get the back-four to pass it around for 10 minutes and then have the keeper boot it upfield?

Assistant manager Craig Shakespeare revealed how a tweak in tactics helped City come from behind to beat Burnley on Wednesday night, extending their 100 per cent home start.

Trailing to an opening goal from Burnley’s Dean Marney at the break, the Foxes emerged with a different setup in the second period, as boss Nigel Pearson switched from a 4-4-2 formation to a 4-3-3.

And with outstanding young Frenchman Anthony Knockaert highly influential in attack, a landmark goal from David Nugent and a first at King Power Stadium for summer signing Jamie Vardy brought about a welcome reverse in the score-line.

Filling in for boss Pearson in the post-match press conference, Shakey said: “At the start of the game Burnley’s shape was very difficult to break down. They obviously then scored a good counter-attacking goal from their point of view and that put us on the back foot, because the first goal is important in any Championship game.

“We tinkered with it a little bit at half-time, brought Anthony in off one of the wide positions and played him in behind the striker, which we felt was pivotal in us getting back in the game.

“I’m delighted for the boys in terms of the spirit and the courage they showed because the fans made their feelings known at half-time. I think that was more out of frustration with the result rather than the performance.”

Neither goal would have won any beauty contests – Nugent’s a scuffed half-volley after some poor Burnley defending and Vardy’s a deflected finish from a tight angle.

But Shakey was delighted to see City’s two front men on the score-sheet, particularly Nugent, whose wait for his 100th career goal was ended after a barren run of 11 games.

“Front players live off their goals,” Shakey said.

“David has been on 99 goals for a while so we’re pleased for him because his endeavour and work-rate are outstanding. To get off that will hopefully give him the confidence to push on.”

City’s focus will now switch to Sunday’s visit of Pearson and Shakespeare’s former club Hull City, where the Foxes will be hoping to make it four out of four in the league at King Power Stadium.

“There are another three points at stake and hopefully tonight will give us a lot of confidence to take into Sunday,” Shakey said.

To be fair to Pearson, I think that's a common factor in all Hull City games.

Called for this before the start of the season. I reckon Nige and Shakey have been reading my posts, saw it was the way forward and I expect a call from them inviting me to be part of their coaching staff. It's easy this football managment lark

I thought this was a new idea for a chant based upon 2-4-6-8 Motorway. Disappointed

True, we've only scored 10 in our last 3 games. Boooooring.

Bruce has done well after the dirge you served up under Barmby last year.

Fair play.

So far I don't rate james, I prefer king and Wellens but it's too early I guess to say

Why not? Never gives the ball away, collects it off players and keeps it moving. People wank over Joe Allen and his pass rate but when one of our players plays a similar role they slag them off for it

Futacs

If you can plonk it on his head it's going in.

Works well on FIFA 12 when I've played as pompey...

Why do we have to wait for the half time chat to make tactical changes'come in boys sit down make yourselves comfy and this is what I would like us to do second half'

Almost the most important job of the manager is to react to what he sees on the pitch-when needed and communicate it .

Anyone else think Shaky and Pearson sound the same on radio?Same accent ,cliches, everything.
