Guest Col city fan Posted 30 September 2012 Posted 30 September 2012 I hope this is just all lazy journalism. To dismiss Pearson now would be madness. However, the world of football is a crazy one. Nothing would shock me anymore.
smudger63 Posted 30 September 2012 Posted 30 September 2012 I have the same feeling. To keep having these rumours cropping up means there must be some substance, however small. Indeed, and we had the rumours of Sven likely to be sacked in the weeks leading up to his sacking tooI just can`t see why Redknapp would come here. Decent chance of the QPR job coming up soon, which would suit him much better.
crisp packet Posted 30 September 2012 Posted 30 September 2012 Even on the football league show last night it mentioned under fire N.P embarrassing really . Hopefully lazy journalism ...

fleckneymike Posted 30 September 2012 Posted 30 September 2012 Redknapp wants another job, he likes to be in the public eye and he has many friends in the media. What better way to get a Premier league job than by claiming he's close to joining an ambitious Championship club, gullible fans and chairmen get squeaky bums, the incumbent Prem manager gets the boot and in waltzes Harry having 'turned down some triffic offers Geoff...you know big clubs, here and abroad, but I really wasn't lookin' to get back in you know. Sandra and I were havin' a triffic time with the Grandkids but when a club like (insert name here) ask you, you've got to give it some fowt... but Geoff it was in a heartbeat you know, some triffic players here and the chairman and I, we didn't really talk figures cos we're both football men...'
smudger63 Posted 30 September 2012 Posted 30 September 2012 No quotes or sources... Nothing in it How would managing Leicester suit Redknapp who lives in Sandbanks... Southampton will be calling soon anyway The Thai's have financial clout? Maybe, but why spend a year clearing the decks & making things sustainable whilst the Thai's keep talking about long term and there's FFP limits to keep under limiting big wage deals that have bought 'Arry his non-existent success after 28yrs managing. There is nothing about this that fits and he'll be Southampton's next boss anyway We don`t know for sure though, if the owners have wanted the big earners out the club, or if it`s solely down to Pearson not wanting them.
Number 6 Posted 30 September 2012 Posted 30 September 2012 Newspaper reports should be saying other clubs are eyeing up Pearson, not that we're thinking about giving him the chop!
smudger63 Posted 30 September 2012 Posted 30 September 2012 non-story at the moment but love the way NP is now everyone's hero and a couple of weeks ago so many wanted him out. That`s modern football for you!
Guest safetosurfthisbeach Posted 30 September 2012 Posted 30 September 2012 FFS!!! The reason this story won't go away is that it's an easy space filler for inept and lazy tabloid journalists. One by one each tabloid has repeated this story, but curiously they ever quote any sources or hard facts. If you read tabloid papers you must accept that 50% of their stories are completely made up, they are in the business of selling papers, the truth is an option. The Daily Mail loves to create hysteria, I'm surprised they haven't printed this before. Even if the Thais were considering replacing NP with HR (which I very much doubt)you can bet they would make all enquiries in a very discreet manner.
foxsake123 Posted 30 September 2012 Posted 30 September 2012 Lets hope harry comes here sooner rather than later. Promotion guaranteed with him in charge this season. As long as there are enough games left for him.
Lambert09 Posted 30 September 2012 Posted 30 September 2012 Lets hope harry comes here sooner rather than later. Promotion guaranteed with him in charge this season. As long as there are enough games left for him. I think we will get promoted with either of them in charge. The difference is I think we would struggle once in the premiership with the way Pearson manages, to be successful you need the ability to deal with big time players and I fear we would come straight back down. With Harry we would have a great chance of sustaining our status, the issue however is that he would drop us as soon as another offer comes in and he would clearly just use us as a stepping stone to a bigger club. I think im in the Pearson camp, but I do understand why the owners would consider it.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 30 September 2012 Posted 30 September 2012 Jewell told BBC Radio Suffolk: "Harry rang me last Sunday and said there was abolutely no truth in it. "The only worrying thing was at the end of the conversation he asked me what the best areas to live were." So he's looking to move... Goob job Leicester is a shit hole I would hate it If Nigel left, we're one point of top and it would be a stupid decision, he'd have to mould his own squad in january and get to know the players. Also, surely with 'Arrys wage it would well and truly mess us up when FFP comes in?
The Year Of The Fox Posted 30 September 2012 Posted 30 September 2012 Id be knocking on Whelan's door personally handing her my ST
foxsake123 Posted 30 September 2012 Posted 30 September 2012 Don't know if 'stepping stone' is appropriate the guy is in his 60's no? And as for harry jumping ship who else could he go to? He had his big chance at spurs, obviously west ham, pompey and saints. I doubt he could get another club bigger than spurs. I think we will get promoted with either of them in charge. foxsake123 Posted 30 September 2012 Posted 30 September 2012 And whilst he will sign players on big wages he is very astute with european bosmans (and bunged up).so if they cost nowt do wages really matter?
LJS Posted 30 September 2012 Posted 30 September 2012 What's all this talk about the owners running us more sustainably? We may not have spent to the levels we did under Eriksson, but we have still spent a lot of money since January. Drinkwater, Marshall, Morgan, James, De Laet, Knockaert, Vardy. That lot must come to a good £7m, which is more than most clubs at our level can afford. I would imagine that the reason our outlay is less than it was previously is more to do with Pearson's preferences in the transfer market than any effort on behalf of the owners. If somebody like Redknapp were to come in I'd expect the amount we spend to increase. Of course, nobody new should be coming in. We have a good manager building a young, exciting side which is winning games.

I very much doubt he would come to us with a view to ending his career here

thlcfc93 Posted 30 September 2012 Posted 30 September 2012 If this happens it's an absolute abomination. I'll be one of the many people handing my season ticket in, they won't be getting another penny off me until the Thai's leave. And for anyone who says that's not being loyal - I've always stuck by the club, it wouldn't be easy to do, but sometimes things just become so wrong you have to say enough is enough. And sacking Pearson would be the most backward thing the clubs ever done. I don't think the owners would have to be that unsatisfied with Pearson to get rid. I fear the lure of getting Redknapp in would be too much for them to resist.
foxsake123 Posted 30 September 2012 Posted 30 September 2012 Point taken. I just doubt there are any owners in the prem who would want him. So next best thing is a smaller club. As long as he gets us into the prem, we consolidate there. After that if he goes that's fine. But even with NP I fear that he will fare as well as hughton or Lambert are currently. AndThen he will get the sack anyway. Yeah but he currently has no club and he left spurs on a sour note, he could use us to show his ability's and wait for the clubs to come knocking. foxsake123 Posted 30 September 2012 Posted 30 September 2012 And your superior debating skills boggle my mind. Bravo. You have won the argument with your one sentence. Your stupidity boggles my mind.

Look how it's turning out with Beckford right now. Discounting Nugent, our best players are Pearson signings on lower wages because they care more and work harder.
