brisfox Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 From what I understand, Palace are having their annual "Big day out" in Leicester on Saturday. Once a year they pick one team to visit, this year it is our turn. I was thinking. Why not have a big day out of our own. Three games spring to mind. How about Burnley away( we don't usually take huge numbers there), Blackpool away or maybe even Palace themselves. Any thoughts ?

We take enough away without needing a designated day for away fans.
brisfox Posted 25 October 2012 Author Posted 25 October 2012 So, what I understand you to say is, let's discourage fans from travelling in large numbers to a game they may not otherwise travel to?
marko Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 No, that's not what I said. With our away following I don't really see the need for a gimmicky "day out". I'm pretty sure those that want to travel do already.
brisfox Posted 25 October 2012 Author Posted 25 October 2012 I already do travel to every away game. What I am on about is the other 20,000 who don't but might begin to do so if given a specific game to focus on
Kitchandro Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 I don't understand. Why would people go to away games just because a load of other fans think they should? I'm just struggling to understand the idea.
foss1884 Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 Erm, define massive? They've not even sold 2,000 tickets yet!!! Given that they've put so much publicity into it is absolutely pitiful. If they do not sell out the full 3,200 it's outrageous and a complete embarrassment!
RonnieTodger Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 I think it'd take a bit more than a post on here to convince thousands to go to a game they ordinarily wouldn't. Personally I can't wait for Blackpool though. Even if it is in February.

MrFox781 Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 Im glad palace are bringing good numbers, just makes a better atmosphere from our end.
Lcfcwigstonblue Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 I'm hearing from quite a few that Sheff weds away 24th Nov is going to be a big one
ScouseFox Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 If they don't sell out that is a little bit embarrassing.
jonthefox Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 I'm hearing from quite a few that Sheff weds away 24th Nov is going to be a big one The perfect away game. Plenty of tickets and an hour or so away.
ScouseFox Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 We shouldn't (and probably won't) need any type of "fan day" initiative to take big numbers to Hillsborough. Decent old ground, not far away and we'll, hopefully, still be on a good run of form near the top of the table. That should be enough to make people want to go.
Iwan is a Welshman Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 Interesting choice of games. Burnley's a hole and miles away and so's Palace. Blackpool's just a mighty fine piss up! If you were going to do a 'fans fixture' away day then a more accessible trip like Wednesday or Watford would make more sense to me. Not huge on it though anyway, mainly because I can't see how it would work. You can see why discounted hone tickets make a difference but away days are always expensive
Sods Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 Fair play for doing it, they would only be taking 500-800 everywhere, at least they get one decent away day in big numbers. Also perhaps they might gain more away supporters in the future. Other clubs should look into doing this but not us our numbers are decent away from home.
Kitchandro Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 Why are we calling a smaller club embarrassing for not selling as many away tickets as we'd do? Especially as there's a few days for them to get them yet? As for Sheffield Wednesday away I've been only once but it was pretty shocking, almost everyone was sat down and that was on the back of 8 games unbeaten.
Simmo86 Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 We've been harsh on Palace with first of all saying it was POTD and then making it all ticket. Thats sure to knock a few hundred off the attendance. They'll still bring 2000+ and make a racket. Good enough for me.
