Harry - LCFC Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 Is he not still injured?? If not, go for him IMO He recovered from his leg break a while ago if that's the injury you're referring to, not injured right now as far as I know. He doesn't seem to start a lot of games under Hughes, comes on as a sub quite a lot. I distinctly remember him starting the 10/11 season superbly until he broke his leg. Scored two against us at the KP.
Kitchandro Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 I'm gutted we didn't look at getting Jay Bothroyd. The blokes a cunt, but he's a good player, did a great job at Cardiff I always thought. Just looked at his record at Sheff Wed (Where he is on loan at the moment) only scored 1 in 10 games, which is quite poor, but reckon in a better team he'd be a brilliant player, I reckon he'd have done a job for us here and he has some ariel threat which is something we lack. Nailed on to score against us when we play Sheff Wed in a few weeks. Slipped the net I think. Yeh he was quality for Cardiff, not been the same for him since he left there.
seenitall Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 What exactly are we looking for here - a guy who is cheap but amazing, has no ego, scores at least once a game and if he doesn't has the capacity to handle being slated by the KP faithful, needs to be paid less than 5k a week and happy to be dropped or made to train with the kiddies if he shows desire to be in the team - should be a breeze
Leicesterpool Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 Can't remember if i suggested him or already but how about John Guidetti from Man City on loan?
Leicester_Numan Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 Isn't Billy Sharp only on loan at Forest? Might be worth sticking in a cheeky bid in January. You never know, he might decide to come if we're still in the mix and Forest aren't
Danno Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 Can't remember if i suggested him or already but how about John Guidetti from Man City on loan? Are you serious? He'd get in to teams far better than us easy. And he has an attitude.
AKCJ Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 Are you serious? He'd get in to teams far better than us easy. And he has an attitude. A lot of people were suggesting that he might end up as one of Man City's main 4 strikers this season. Ahead of one of Tevez, Aguero, Dzeko or Balotelli. That's how good he is.

Babylon Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 Like your thinking... Vardy for Leicester: 14 Apps 4 goals (3 league 1 cup). Sharp for Forest: 15 Apps 4 goals (3 league 1 cup). I like Sharp, it's just a comparison seeing as many seemingly have ruled out Vardy doing much for us.

Have quite a few appearances been as a late sub? Interesting though Babs... I've not ruled Vardy out at all. Sharp is just proven at this level.

He actually played three games for saints, and one of the goals was scored in a cup game for them. So it's 12 for Forest (9 starts, 3 as sub) 3 goals and 3 games for Saints (2 sub, 1 start) 1 goal. Vardy is 12 starts and 2 as sub. 4 goals. Would have loved Sharp here.
Bettsj2 Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 If we're looking for better than what we have, Billy Sharp aint it. Did well at lesser clubs (Scunny/Donny) but not much to write home about anywhere else. Certainly cant see anything in his game to suggest he'd compliment Nugent. I think someone like Bobby Zamora would really link well with Nugent but I doubt he would step down a league.
Danno Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 Sharp wont come here, demanded 30K/week last time we tried to get him

seenitall Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 Sharp wont come here, demanded 30K/week last time we tried to get him I wonder how much the three million poundvsigning Waghorn is on? Five grand a week?
Danno Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 I wonder how much the three million poundvsigning Waghorn is on? Five grand a week? Probably about 7-12K.
Bert Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 I wonder how much the three million poundvsigning Waghorn is on? Five grand a week? And the rest. Not looking at any strikers at the minute.
seenitall Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 Probably about 7-12K. Dream on - no one goes for 3mill and accepts a League 1 wage - Elvis Hammond was on 20 k a week whenhe was here
Fez of Mahrez Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 Dream on - no one goes for 3mill and accepts a League 1 wage - Elvis Hammond was on 20 k a week whenhe was here Elvis Hammond cost £350,000 so if he's the benchmark based on his transfer fee then Waghorn must be on around £190,000 a week. No wonder people have been moaning about him. In fact, Wikipedia (that great source of the undeniable truth) reckons Hammond cost us £250,000, so that would elevate Waghorn up around the Yaya Toure wage area. He needs to start scoring some bloody goals.

Babylon Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 Yet they didnt want to keep him? Because they got promoted and that's why he was signed... How are things working out for them without him?
surrifox Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 sharp (along with maynard) is sooo last year- time to move on
roachmachine Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 I think we def need a striker to come in, as i just cant see our strikers scoring enough goals to get us promoted, we create alot of chances but take very few. Nugent is ok but not prolific by any stretch Vardy is finding championship defenders a very different proposition to what he was use to Waghorn, mmm. well i just don't think he can cut it Schlupp, still young and learning so who knows, but prob playing left back for a couple of games anyway Futacs, wont really know unless he actually gets a game, but prob cant do any worse than the others.
seenitall Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 Hang on - we've got 5 strikers at the club and need a striker???? Are the Nige faithful questioning the quality of his first choice strikers? Never.
