Davies has played 51 games for Barnsley, scoring 18. Before, he played 23 games for Wolves without scoring at this level. Is he really proven?

And this season he's got 7 in a very very average Barnsley side. He's on form and improving.. As are the others mentioned.

I'm not saying any of these players are amazing... The term 'ain't brilliant' is a giveaway  but what they are is on-form and getting better. And none would cost the earth.

I'm not a huge admirer but I see Henderson's record. Davies though isn't what we require.

As Bugg says, the Birmingham game seems to have thrown his name into many hats.

No problem.. Replace Davies (who has scored more than any of our strikers whatever you want to say) with Becchio or Robinson...

Again, none of these strikers would cost the earth. All are proven at this level.

And could make the difference.

The point I'm making is that there ARE strikers playing in this division who we could sign. All are on-form, all are experienced Championship strikers.

Marlon King is another...

It would cost a bit of money, but don't try to say that these signings are insurmountable. Because they ain't.

Its been way too long since we've had a truly enviable striker at this level.

But there's a difference between enviable strikers and those having good seasons. Neither guarantee goals so ill reiterate my point....work on the issue rather than try and buy our way out of it.

Not a dig at anybody, mind

Kevin Phillips would be a shrewd signing to help us get promoted for this season only. Knows where the back of the net is and would score for fun with the amount of chances we create. Surely he could be prised anyway from Blackpool now that Holloway has gone and what with their £10k wage cap. Would also be good to have someone of his experience around the dressing room who has not only previously won promotion but can also offer advice to some of the younger strikers coming through.

Glenn Murray? everytime I see the guy score its from the penalty spot.

He's taken 5 penalties in his last 2 games!

Is that right? That is stunning. I saw they got two in their last game. Sometimes clubs who have a bit of momentum suddenly find themselves getting the rub of the green also. Palace have had a few penalties this season. Last season Southampton I think had similar, was there a game when they were 2-1 down with 5 to go against Millwall and got 2 penalties? And the season before Norwich must have got about 15 points with very very late goals (I don't know the exact stats on this).

With the exception of a slightly dubious peno against Blackpool, after a clearer one had been turned down, I don't think we've had many stinker decisions go for us for quite a while.

To return to the title of this thread, I'd have a look at Morrison at Norwich or Danny Graham at Swansea.

Why would Danny Graham go from 1st team PL football to the Championship?

It seems to me that over the last couple of weeks he's fallen down the pecking order at Swansea? Laudrup's come in and started to change things around from the Rodgers side, and it struck me that they might look to loan him out. Although I concede it's a bit of a long shot.

I'd be happy to take a punt on McGoldrick from Forest (Cov)

He's always had potential, but i've seen a couple of his performances this season and he looks like he's added a lot more to his game. He's powerful, something we don't have up front.

I know its been mentioned but I think Connor Wickham is a good shout - not prolific but gives you a more direct option and would be a handful opening up space for other players. and think we could easily get a short loan which wouldnt be a huge gamble

There could be 75 million reasons to do so...

You could argue there are 75 million reasons not to looking at our debts. We have already speculated and failed miserably.

In other transfer news, Aston Villa are considering a move for £3m-rated Maribor striker Robert Beric , the Sun claims, while the Mail reports that Arsenal are considering a move for Burnley's 23-year-old striker Charlie Austin.

That's two off the list then
