indierich06 Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 Hang on - we've got 5 strikers at the club and need a striker???? Are the Nige faithful questioning the quality of his first choice strikers? Never. Oh bore off. Why are things always so black and white with you? I support Pearson fully and I think his signings have been fantastic, but obviously Beckford's departure - due to him not wanting to be here - has left us short up front. Futacs and Schlupp are obviously squad players and they're not really going to feature much at all up front and Vardy's injury has left us a little short. Having said that, I think Waghorn is an adequate deputy for a short amount of time, but if either of our first choice strikers get injured for any length of time, yes - we'll have to get someone else in.
indierich06 Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 Vardy is finding championship defenders a very different proposition to what he was use toWaghorn, mmm. well i just don't think he can cut it I think you're being very unfair to both here - Vardy has been doing very well and getting into the positions to score goals, his finishing is just letting him down at the moment. From his time at Fleetwood, it's obvious he was a very good finisher so I can only assume that it's nerves playing a part and he's snatching at his chances a little bit at the moment. All he needs to do is put away a couple of chances and then that confidence will return and hopefully he can go on a bit of a run. As for Waghorn - I feel sorry for him personally, he's been mucked about no end since he signed permanently for the club. He's been played out of position, brought on with a few minutes left when he can't make any difference and he's only just back from quite a serious injury. Like he said on the radio the other night, he needs this run of games to return to the kind of form we saw in our last playoff season. He looks to be getting better every game and by all accounts he had a great game against Bolton the other night. I hope he starts on Saturday because he looks to be champing at the bit at the minute. He's another who a couple of goals would do the world of good for. If he manages one against Forest on Saturday, the fickle fans will love him again and hopefully he can build on that. Everyone is so keen to see the worst in all our players, it just makes the mind boggle.

indierich06 Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 Charlie Austin Please This will never happen in a million years. He's out of our reach and well out of our price range, and that of any other Championship clubs. If he carries on in this vein of form, it'll be the Premier League for him in January. Shame we didn't manage to get him when he moved to Burnley in the first place - we were definitely in for him apparently.

Fave little Indie saying - bore off - you must be all sad because you're happy little backslapping message board has got non believers on it - its a results game buddy - fail and you're out - no room for bleeding heart liberals in football - you're as good as your last result these days - feel sorry for waggy be bollocksed - the lad gets on the pitch he scores he's a hero - hit the floodlights like usual and he's a goner

I'm not a 'backslapper', I don't just blindly back everything the manager does, I give credit where credit is due and this season we've already seen marked improvements in our performances - this is down to the players that Pearson has brought in and moved on and the football he has us playing. What I'm sick of is posters like you, who just search for the flaws and the negatives in everything to the point where some of the things you come out with are absolutely incomprehensible - like on the other thread where you're stating that you'd rather have Matt Mills in the side than Wes Morgan because you perceive him as a bigger name... are you on crack? You slag off posters for blindly agreeing and praising everything the management does before blindly disagreeing and criticising everything the manager does. You vilify players like Waghorn who give everything for this club and laud players like Beckford who have contributed nothing, and then blame the management for not getting the best out of these lazy, average players. Yeah - I use the term 'bore off' a lot, especially in response to your posts, and do you know why? It's becuase you're ****ing boring and predictable. If you're sick of all the 'bleeding heart liberals' and this 'happy little backslapping message board' then why don't you do us all a favour, get back to the wine and the cheese and never watching any Leicester games and **** off somewhere else?
Leicester_Numan Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 Vardy for Leicester: 14 Apps 4 goals (3 league 1 cup). Sharp for Forest: 15 Apps 4 goals (3 league 1 cup). I like Sharp, it's just a comparison seeing as many seemingly have ruled out Vardy doing much for us. I haven't ruled Vardy out, he's forming a good looking partnership with Nugent but we definitely need a 3rd option that can score goals. Sharp is proven and can play as a target man, lone striker or out and out goalscorer so he covers all the bases really
TrentFox Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 Does anyone remember a football game called "Striker" ? Used to have it as a kid. Basically, you pressed the heads down to make them kick the ball. Thought I'd won the lottery ('Pools' in those days) when I opened that up one Christmas morning !

The flick to kick principle. Only problem was kneeling on your players. They were never the same with BluTak.

Mark_w Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 Only two of which are Pearson signings, but don't let that cloud your judgement. Oh come on, he may not have signed Waggy, but he still counts. Still we're 5th and we've scored in all but one game so we don't really need a striker.

I remember getting a set of 'hand-me-down' ones and counting the seconds until my bedroom was dark enough to make use of them. Another "pools" moment - we were so easily pleased in those days.
Shortwave Fox Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 To Mark_W and cc_star... Would you really not get in a striker, do you honestly think Vardy can do a job on a regular basis because I don't. In the past couple of games we have proved, that the duo of Waghorn and Vardy don't offer clearly enough than they should do. Waghorn wasn't very good at all in the games he started, while Vardy will always give 100% but recently he has struggled, he is far too hit and miss at this level, yes he will score us goals, but I don't think he will score enough, we can't rely on just Nugent all the time, with Knockaert and King chipping in with a few here and there. It's good to see we have a goalscoring midfielder back in King, that's something we really needed at the start of the season, but now even though we are second, there are still some concerns with our strikeforce, can they be consistent, can they score on a regular basis? I like Vardy but he is one of those players, who will do well one week and then looks out of his depth the next week. Loan strikers have helped us in the past, in the likes of Yakubu and Kamara when we got those two on loan they looked a class above, Yakubu scored goals, while Kamara had skill and pace about him. I believe we may get top six, but actual promotion with Vardy and Nugent up front...no sorry not for me I thought Kamara looked excellent in his few games here...

dannythefox Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 We do need a striker and thats a fact someone who if we get one shot on goal will put the ball in the net we've missed some great chances already this season.
Kitchandro Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 Where's Roy essandoh when you need him?! Do not speak his name.
Shortwave Fox Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 Where's Roy essandoh when you need him?! Bury Town :)
deep blue Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 We do need a striker and thats a fact someone who if we get one shot on goal will put the ball in the net we've missed some great chances already this season. I saw Glenn Murray on FLS after a few games and he looked just the ticket - finishing with confidence & accuracy (and no fuss) from 6-15 yards, exactly the sort of chances we've been fluffing. I wondered then if we could have signed/loaned him. Since then CP have really kicked off and his goalscoring has gone up a notch. Too late now. For me, he's exactly the kind of striker we need, but such players are so rare and usually expensive. Where the hell could even NP & Steve Walsh unearth one now?

But if anybody knew he would score the goals he has , I doubt he would be at palace now. Hindsight etc but I know what you are saying. If I'm honest we have enough options with enough experience and threat to be scoring plenty of goals, we can't always dismiss it and say give them time fair enough, but as a team , since we were first took over it seems instead of working on a problem, most fans would prefer we buy our way out of it. And I don't think that's the option, particularly when your going to ruin the morale of those who are already in the team.

Guest Col city fan Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 Why do so many people think that these strikers would cost big money? Glenn Murray aint brilliant.. And Palace ain't flush Darius Henderson, Chris Wood ain't brilliant.... And Millwall ain't flush Davies ain't brilliant and Barnsley ain't flush... To name but four what these strikers are is proven at this level. They have played in the Championship for some time and all know where the goal is. I'm not dismissing Vardy, but to rely on him to make the step up immediately could be too much, too soon. A few tonight have described how Knocky has put through some sublime killer passes, which our strikers have missed. Why can't Leicester City speculate to accumulate (sensibly, NOT the Sven way) and stump up a bit of cash to pay for an in-form PROVEN striker which could be the final piece of the jigsaw? There could be 75 million reasons to do so...

Bugg Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 Davies has played 51 games for Barnsley, scoring 18. Before, he played 23 games for Wolves without scoring at this level. Is he really proven? No, but he scored 4 goals against a Birmingham team who gave up before half time on Sky Sports so he's amazing! This is the same Craig Davies i saw a few times at Port Vale and he was a complete joke up front.
