Oxfordfox83 Posted 25 November 2012 Posted 25 November 2012 What the hell is going on there? Not that I particularly care, but a bit like Everton bringing out a red away kit. Unthinkable?
StanSP Posted 25 November 2012 Posted 25 November 2012 Nothing like Everton wearing red. Man City have had red and black in their past, just like Man Utd have had a blue kit, albeit a different shade. But then this Man City red is a totally different red to Man Utd's anyway. The colour of the kit is absolutely irrelevant in terms of how a team plays, anyway.
Jimothy Posted 25 November 2012 Posted 25 November 2012 Well firstly, surely this could have gone in the Premier League thread. Not having a go, but surely Man City's burgundy second kit isn't worth it's own thread. And secondly, as I've already said, it's burgundy, it's nowhere near the colour of Man Utd's kit. Plus Man City have played in red and black stripes so it's hardly a first.
Bert Posted 25 November 2012 Posted 25 November 2012 It's a shade of red. Very similar to the red Arsenal wore for that odd season.
I am Rod Hull Posted 25 November 2012 Posted 25 November 2012 Leicester could change their name to "Jimmy Saville`s under 14`s" and change their badge to a ram sitting on a tree whilst riding an elephant.... I still wouldn`t give a shite.

And it's not about the shade, Manchester is red and blue, as is Liverpool. Can't imagine Celtic wearing blue away, Arsenal wearing white, etc etc. Just can't imagine why they chose a red kit, that's all...
Jimothy Posted 25 November 2012 Posted 25 November 2012 Sorry, watching MOTD2 and it occurred to me that it was odd. And it's not about the shade, Manchester is red and blue, as is Liverpool. Can't imagine Celtic wearing blue away, Arsenal wearing white, etc etc. Just can't imagine why they chose a red kit, that's all... Well Manchester United have wore blue away. Arsenal wore white only the other season, and Liverpool had a blue trimmed kit last year. But they were all different shades to their rivals so nobody really said much. It's not like they are wearing a exact replica of Utd's kit, it's burgundy/blackcurrant like that Arsenal kit. Man Utd wearing skyblue, Man City wearing red with white shorts and black sock, Arsenal wearing white and blue or Liverpool wearing royal blue. I could understand all of those seeming odd, but a team wearing a shade of their rivals colours that actually miles away from the the actual colour, nah can't really see the problem.
Oxfordfox83 Posted 25 November 2012 Author Posted 25 November 2012 Fair enough. I'll concede to that...

Kitchandro Posted 26 November 2012 Posted 26 November 2012 Nothing wrong with them wearing red for the reasons already said, I don't like it as a kit at all though. I don't know why every club are moving away from their traditional away colours these days, they're all picking various strange colours like burgundy and pink and grey etc but hardly any of them actually look any good, they're all just strange colours but the style of kit is extremely boring. That red and black Man City kit is iconic and I miss our white and blue 2nd kits (no idea the love in with black, it was fine as a one off with the Fosse style but all the others have been poor). If there is any kit issue that deserves it's own thread it's the Sunderland v West Brom fiasco. There are too many kit clashes like this these days and I can't understand how the referee can look at them and not conclude they are confusing. Back in the old days it was better safe than sorry, nowadays my eyes hurt half the time (I know this should be going in the 1st world problems thread )
Dan Posted 26 November 2012 Posted 26 November 2012 Jesus Christ, there was me thinking that nightmare at Cardiff was going to happen again at a club that isn't small.
AyewJoking Posted 26 November 2012 Posted 26 November 2012 we have had light a blue sash(?) on the black kits. Everyone knows that is coventry and i was physically sick at the sight of it. even the old bukta kit of the early 90's had a bit of forest red. What were we thinking???
Jace Posted 26 November 2012 Posted 26 November 2012 What were people expecting a light blue away kit too!?
AyewJoking Posted 26 November 2012 Posted 26 November 2012 bástards, first they take Tevez, then Hargreaves, then their title and now they in the same colour (not actually true) kit!

That may be, but there have been a few studies that suggest competitors perform better when wearing certain colors--red, in particular.

This may sound weird but I'd love it if we could just keep the blue sash and black as our away kit or third kit even for a period of time. I'm a big fan of it and I think its a great traditional away kit for us. I think umbro have a done a pretty good job with man city's kits. Loved the red and black last year and love the grey stripes this year. Think villas away kit is actually disgusting though.
Guest Posted 26 November 2012 Posted 26 November 2012 I hope that City never wear Forest Red. I think it's terrible the way teams put out all these wanky kits just to make money.
Ashley Posted 26 November 2012 Posted 26 November 2012 I hope that City never wear Forest Red. I think it's terrible the way teams put out all these wanky kits just to make money. Oh wow. Leicester have wore 'forest red' in the past and for many of year at that, we've almost had more red kits than white.
Guest Posted 26 November 2012 Posted 26 November 2012 Oh wow. Leicester have wore 'forest red' in the past and for many of year at that, we've almost had more red kits than white. I realise that and we deserve to lose every time we wear Red. That coventry blue was sickening too. We are the Royal blues and should stay that way. I accept inverted colours for the away strip. The Yellow is pretty sickening too but at least none of our local enemies wear it.
