davieG Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 Can't really imagine that happening today, which is a shame. How about Birch as a legend, played for the club for 7 years, but also for his role as club ambassador and charity work, seems to genuinely love the club. Not for me as player he was average amongst giants like Worthington, Weller, Glover even the likes of Shilton, Whitworth, Nish and Cross were still playing.as for his ambassador role he gets paid to do that many ex players would have loved to do it along with 1000s of fans.
dmayne7 Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 Jay Emmanuel-Thomas When did you change names Col?
Guest bss9401 Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 Lineker or Banks because they were truly world class players. Gary for me though as I saw most of his games for us.
jonthefox Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 Too many to choose from, hence no statue outside the ground. If i was forced to pick one though, i'd probably say Rowley.........or Banks.
Kitchandro Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 Too many to choose from, hence no statue outside the ground. If i was forced to pick one though, i'd probably say Rowley.........or Banks. Agreed. There's not really one stand out, is there?
jonthefox Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 I'm also surprised to see theres no mention of Arthur Chandler . All time leading scorer with 273 goals. I doubt we'll ever see that broken.
Tielemans63 Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 Muzzy for me although Matty Elliott comes close. I bloody loved Garry Parker too - I think his impact at LCFC is often underrated.
Brauny Fox Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 He's here, he's there, he's every f*****g where...STEVE WALSH!!!
Guest Col city fan Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 Sorry... Only just seen the thread.... Jay Emmanuel Thomas for me... Fan Legend: Father Ted..
ealingfox Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 If Lineker had stayed a bit longer and only gone straight to Barcelona after helping us into a sustainable top 4 berth like I've always done in my dreams then it would be him.
Filbert The Fox Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 We've had some great players over the years. Banks Shilton Lineker Walsh Cross Chandler Rowley Izzet Wortho Weller The list goes on. The 1 person that stands out for me who has been at Leicester since i pretty much started to go down with my dad in the early 70's.To me he is Mr Leicester City. Alan Birchenall. All the end of season charity runs he has done.No other club can't have anyone who has done that. Just look at the other season when they were going to let him go,all the support he got from us thousands of city fans, which imo actually change the powers that be minds. Arise Sir Alan Birchenall.
Oxfordfox83 Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 Really, it's got to be Gary-he's Mr Leicester and is one of England's best ever players. I never saw him play for us though, so by that reasoning Walsh. Izzett was my favourite player to watch, but Walsh was the lynchpin of so much we did for so long... Wouldn't mind him being our legend at all, great man. Still, Gary is our legend, surely...?
My Nads Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Hmm.......Walsh or Banks................Walsh......,Banks?..........................Matt Mills
Guest MattP Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 As great as the Birch has been for the club I can't believe are seriously suggesting him as the biggest legend our football club has had. We've produced World Cup Golden Boot winners ffs.

We've produced World Cup Golden Boot winners ffs. There's more to being a legend than achievements on the pitch (particularly those which weren't done in a Leicester shirt). But Gary's helping hand during our administration bolsters his bid big time so yes, I probably would go with Lineker over Birchenall.
blue army 1988 Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Surprised no one or not many people have said emile heskey. He saved lcfc from the brink of liquidation with money from his own pocket. Thats a legend in my eyes.
Sampson Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Agree with the couple of people who said it's between Banks and Rowley.

If we are talking off the pitch ambassadors you could probably put Jack Curtis up there with Birch.
Captain... Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 As much as I do love Lineker, I will always seem him as a legend that came from Leicester rather than a Leicester legend, I just associate him more with Barcelona, England and Spurs, like Heskey he left us, understandably, for bigger and better things. I see Walsh as a much bigger legend, for the amount of time he spent at the club, and what he achieved with us here, and his continued association with the club and the city.
