Whitbread was woeful. It's all well and good winning an unchallenged header (of which he won plenty) but if you can't find a blue shirt then you're only doing half a job. The only time he did find a teammate, Vardy bagged.

He's also begging to give fouls away with the way he let Davies back in and tumble. He's got to be more streetwise than that.

See King is being called anonymous again. Fvcking weak analysis as per. Ineffective, yes, but he did more than DD - who is fast becoming Wellens Mk II - even before he missed 3 sitters in injury time.

Futacs was impressive.

Did Vardy get any opportunity to actually do anything other than the goal he scored in the 30mins he got to play or do people think he should do it all on his own?

What else did he do?

Kasper- 5. Didn't quite agree with the Radio Leiceser caller suggesting he needs to be replaced by Logan! Rarely lets us down, today was a bad mistake though

De Laet - 6.5. Couple of good runs, didn't have a lot to do defensively

Morgan-7. Distribution not as good as usual but solid as ever. Reminds me of Matt Elliott at times with his close control

Whitbread -7.5. Excellent in the air, unlucky not to get a goal near the end

Konchesky -6. Did his job

Drinkwater -7. Much better in the 2nd half, kept us going, passed well and really got stuck in

King- 6. His first half performance had me thinking that unless he's scoring goals, does he warrant a place in the team? Improved 2nd half, unlucky not to get a goal

Waghorn-5. Some excellent set piece deliveries but played like the Waghorn of old. Don't understand why he doesn't challenge when the ball is played up to him in the air. Frustrating.

Nuge-5. Lots of effort but poor by his standards

Knockeart -6. Gets a 6 because he scored but nothing else he tried came off. Expect him to be dropped for Marshall next week

Dyer -6. Full of effort but didn't produce like he has in recent weeks

Subs:

Vardy 7. So pleased for him. Lovely little pass to King in the box deserved a goal. Good goal - good finish. Made a nuisance of himself. Still yet to convince me but you can't fault that for a 30 mins sub performance.

Marshall -6. Did ok when he came on, more solid than Knockaert and I think he will start next week

Futacs -6.5. Nuisance, gives us a different option.

I think Bert just has it in for Vardy because he's replaced his beloved Beckford ;)

I've not got anything in for him. Really want him to do well because he works hard for the team and deserves to be where he is, but he really does need to add a bit more to his game.

Over the Beckford malarkey now, we're doing fine without him.

What else did he do?

What else could he of done? He came on as a sub with 30mins to go and scored the equaliser we needed to earn us a point, He also set King up who maybe should have scored to win it, Not to shabby for a 30min cameo from the bench, Job done in my eyes.

Kasper 5 - at fault for a goal, kicking was poor.

RDL 5 - attacks well but his overall performance was average.

Konch 6 - didn't do anything wrong but wasn't a standout.

Morgan 7 - was given a hard time but came out on top.

Whitbread 6 - great in the air, starting to find some consistency.

Dyer 6 - pace was good as always but wasn't utilised enough. End product poor.

Knockaert 6 - lovely goal, but anything else he tried didn't come off.

King 4 - needlessly put the ball out for a corner which lead to their 2nd, bullied a by an lcfc reject who couldn't make the grade here, and every shot he had was straight at the keeper.

Drinkwater 6 - a strong second half performance after a quiet first.

Waghorn 6 - not the player he's been for us in the past few games, gave everything.

Nugent 6 - worked hard but didn't get much service, he's not the type to run onto long balls.

Marshall 6 - had a positive impact and should start against Millwall.

Futacs 6 - the best he's been for us. Should've come on earlier.

Vardy 6 - rescued a point but nothing else.

Apart from bringing that ball down that looked like it was going for a goal kick and setting Marshall up ten yards out.

Or playing King in with a through ball when King should have scored and won us the game late on.

For me Vardy was the only reason we got a point, and he should have been the reason we got all 3 had King not made sucb a poor attempt to score in added time.

Agree, Vardy did his job and more yesterday. I'd imagine his instruction from the bench was something along the lines of 'cause a nuisance of yourself and get us a goal'. He did that, plus set King up with a lovely pass that demonstrated his first touch isn't as bad as many think.......

......as for yesterday, I don't understand why the odd one or two refer to ZW as shitbread. Thought he was our best player yesterday - totally dominant in the air, look dangerous in the opposition box and set up Vardy with a difficult header for our late equaliser.

Far too many haters on this forum. Some of the posters definitely didn't go to the game. IMO Zak was our best player (shaded it from Wes). Zak and Wes do exactly what they are supposed to do with clearing headers.......clear your lines unless you have unmarked players around you waiting for the ball. The 50/50 headed ball from defence is then exactly that. The annoying thing is that our midfield only win 10% of 50/50 balls. The midfield needs to get a bit more hungry to be honest (like they were in the first 10 and last 10 minutes). Felt sorry for DD who had no options to pass from deep midfield (nobody coming short for the ball) yesterday on many occasions and he ended up passing to Wes. And while I'm on my soapbox, count the number of times we lose the ball from our own throw-ins. Again, nobody coming short for the ball. Might as well give the ball straight to other team.

Did you go to Charlton - unfortunately the one and only Yann Kermorgant won everything in the air against Morgan that night and gave him a torrid time.

It's quite amazing how we are doing so well. Whitbread is shit, Waghorn can't hit a barn door, Vardy controls it 20 yards, King is too lightweight and bullied out, Dyer can't cross, De Laet couldn't defend at the start of the season.

And yet, with all these players, we are still handily-placed. Maybe Pearson deserves a lot more credit?

I think all 3 of our subs changed the game,

Back on Vardy watch, first thing he did when he came on was win a header to Nugent, who laid it off for King* whose shot was palmed round the post.

He came on on 68 minutes, so it was a 25 minute cameo, and he was instrumental in getting us a point.

*Wasn't invisible at that point, in fact he managed 5 shots in the last 30 minutes of the game, was desperately trying to rescue a point or more, and it is only because of his normally excellent finishing that we are so disappointed in his finishing.

It was a bizarre game not helped by a lenient ref, I'm not sure how we went so badly off the boil in the first half, but the stats and highlights will show that despite everything we totally dominated Barnsley and would have scored a hatful but for some quality defending/keeping.

Sums it up for me and I think we've suffered against other teams like this. When teams are very physical, especially with as you say a lenient ref, our passing game is fractured, momentum disrupted and players lose their way, then BAM! you're behind. It's the style of play that you often see working against the best of teams, the Man Us and the Barcas - they don't like it up them! Knockaert especially doesn't, King doesn't and neither, to a lesser extent does Dyer, only Drinkwater seemed capable of mixing it. So basically our midfield was nullified. The introduction of Marshall and Futacs, who were prepared to play less attractive, more physical football, got us a foothold back into the match and we had to play them as they were playing us. Which worked - in the end we were a margin unlucky not to win, even with a poor performance.

According to the BBC we had 17 shots on target to their 3 - can't say I remember that many, but their goalkeeper was probably their man of the match.

Disappointing, but not the end of the world.

Schmeical - 4 His fault for the first goal and had the gaul to try and blame the defence! Wind your neck in son, your not that good yourself. Poor distribution

as ever.

De Laet - 6 Didn't think he had a bad game personally.

Morgan - 7 Solid.

Whitbread - 7 Solid, cleared his lines when needed (mom for me).

Konchesky - 6 Average, lets remember he's just come back from injury.

Knockaert - 4 All fur coat and no knickers. Woeful passing in first half. Don't no what his brief was in fairness, but as Barnsley appeared to have put 2 men

on Dyer whenever he got near the ball in the first half, it could have benefitted more if he'd stayed out on the wing a bit to add width instead

of him just hanging about aimlessly in the middle. Well taken goal otherwise a 3.

Drinkwater - 6 Worked hard and did King's work for him as well!

King - 4 Back to his usual anonymous self, useless!

Dyer - 6 Thought he had a decent game and gave his all.

Waghorn - 7 Gave all for the cause and played well, often had no outlet.

Nugent - 5 Worked hard as usual but ineffective.

Subs - Marshall - 5 Nothing special.

Vardy - 6 Scored.

Futacs - 6 First time I'd seen him, what a big unit, but not bad with the ball at his feet. Liked the look of him and hope he's given more of a chance.

This is the type of complete tripe that pisses me off when analysing our midfield.

I'm not sure how:

- misplacing a header to give away a cheap corner that leads to a goal;

- getting an assist;

- winning a number of free kicks in midfield;

- missing 2/3 sitters in injury time;

- having two shots saved from the edge of the box where he appeared to be fouled on both ocassions

... can constitute being called anonymous. I swear to God he gets called it because he doesn't misplace a pass. Clueless.

To say Drinkwater did his job for him is just plain daft.

Maybe that was a bit harsh on waggy. For the record im a big fan of his and i suppose i just over reacted a tad as i was very drunk lol

Got to say, i really do wonder about Smeichel, Barnsleys first two real shots on target equals two goals.

He is certainly not consistent and he will have to improve on that if he wants to be a first team, top flight keeper.

Morgan on the other hand at this rate could be given a chance in the top flight, Taggs and Elliot both showed it is not so much about pace as positioning and muscle.
