Rincewind Posted 30 December 2012 Posted 30 December 2012 Just thought of one for Manwell Pablo. Before treading on a trail of ants establish whether they are drones, workers or breeders.

Good luck hope you get somewhere nice
Webbo Posted 2 January 2013 Posted 2 January 2013 Can we all resolve to be a little nicer to each other on this forum?

Webbo Posted 2 January 2013 Posted 2 January 2013 Don't ever call me a Manchester United supporter! :xmasdry: :xmaswink:
purpleronnie Posted 2 January 2013 Posted 2 January 2013 looking for county, dont want to sound racist but i live off Narb Road and nobody speaks English on my street Is that important to you? I don't think I've more than nodded to my neighbours in 10 years...although my neighbours are quite far away .
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 2 January 2013 Posted 2 January 2013 New Years Resolution for Leicesterpool is to use less kleenex this year
Guest MattP Posted 3 January 2013 Posted 3 January 2013 Is that important to you? I don't think I've more than nodded to my neighbours in 10 years...although my neighbours are quite far away . Really? Amazed. I say hello to pretty much everyone I walk past on my street. It's a shame so much community spirit has been lost for a lot of people.
ScouseFox Posted 3 January 2013 Posted 3 January 2013 Nothing specific for me really. Standard things like. Get a job. Pass exams. Drink less. etc etc. Mainly those three actually haha. I thought about getting some kind of hobby instead of just doing fúck all but hopefully a job would mean I have less free time. So that covers that.
Parafox Posted 3 January 2013 Posted 3 January 2013 looking for county, dont want to sound racist but i live off Narb Road and nobody speaks English on my street Must be awful to be in a minority and the fact that you're looking to move away to be amongst those similar to yourself is the very same reason ethnic groups tend to focus on areas with similar mixes as their own.
Captain... Posted 3 January 2013 Posted 3 January 2013 looking for county, dont want to sound racist but i live off Narb Road and nobody speaks English on my street You do realise that using that phrase immediately makes what ever you say after it racist.
Jon the Hat Posted 3 January 2013 Posted 3 January 2013 You do realise that using that phrase immediately makes what ever you say after it racist. No it doesn't. Nothing racist about feeling more comfortable around people speaking your language. This is the same reason why it is hard to live in a country where you dont speak the language.

Didn't say there was, I said using that phrase 'I don't want to sound racist...' makes it racist, I would have posted a smiley but I'm on my phone.

It's a shame so much community spirit has been lost for a lot of people. I should point out my house is pretty isolated, my neighbours are probably 2-300 metres away so I dont see them very often, when I go into town I'm like you speaking to various people, some I know some I dont. Thats another thing i've noticed since I moved back from the USA, the amount of strangers who smile or say hello or morning to me, its pretty amazing and really and shows how nice and welcoming we are, you dont get that in the US.

True. People who have never lived abroad don't realise this or see the importance. I'm seen as odd for saying hello to people as I walk the dog along the beach.

lavrentis Posted 3 January 2013 Posted 3 January 2013 Living in a village is more friendly than a town, absolutely nothing beats living in a rural English village when the sun is shining, old women are watering the plants and you go down to the local pub. Sad as it sounds it truly is a pleasure

Sad as it sounds it truly is a pleasure Are you a former Prime Minister? Is your real name John Major? As the ex-PM said: "50 years on from now, Britain will still be the country of long shadows on cricket grounds, warm beer, invincible green suburbs, dog lovers and pools fillers and, as George Orwell said, 'Old maids bicycling to holy communion through the morning mist' " Apart from the "invincible green suburbs" (hated living in Oadby), it all sounds truly a pleasure to me, too, though I might have inserted "7 pints of" before "warm beer" and would have had "young maids bicycling, with their petticoats chafing their thighs, their faces rosy with anticipation as they headed to the nearest haystack for a good romp"....
