Jon the Hat Posted 4 January 2013 Posted 4 January 2013 I'll have some stella and a packet of pork scratchings and we can finish this like men. French men drink wine. Focus man. You need to compensate the French for the loss of Gerard Depardieu, and his chair takes a lot of filling.
Guest Posted 4 January 2013 Posted 4 January 2013 Franny is going to tax the rich 75%. Of course he failed to write the suggestion properly the first time and had it thrown out but he's still promising us. 75%
The People's Hero Posted 4 January 2013 Author Posted 4 January 2013 Franck Rolling was French. Ergo I'm switching sides and Finners is my now spokesperson.
Monk Posted 4 January 2013 Posted 4 January 2013 What is lacking for me is what to have a career in, when living in Spain I did a few of things and was heading towards setting my own business, but got dragged back to the UK for more money than I could hope to earn in Spain teaching English, I do kinda regret it but on the other hand the way the economy is in Spain at the moment, I think it was the right decision. I think this comes back to what I was saying about career advice though - I really don't think there's such a thing as a career anymore. I consult for 2 large financial services companies in Scotland and they've both just gone through a restructure and laid off 100s of people in one swoop. Many of them who have been at the company for 20 years plus. To me - a long term permanent job to an extent an excuse to be lazy. In the modern world young people need to have multiple skills, and retrain as technology and industry advances.

I guess, I mean I am technically self employed, but I don't really do anything I wouldn't do if I was in full time employment, just change jobs more often as projects come and go, an agency finds work for me and I just get on with it, I would really like to build a proper business up from scratch, but don't really have the expertise or passion in anything.

Then you have no chance. Being self-employed is all about passion and to a lesser extent expertise and to a greater extent hard work.
Captain... Posted 4 January 2013 Posted 4 January 2013 Then you have no chance. Being self-employed is all about passion and to a lesser extent expertise and to a greater extent hard work. I know, which is shame, if I can find that passion I would give everything to it, but in reality I have a lot of interests just not anything I would like to turn into my full time career.
The People's Hero Posted 4 January 2013 Author Posted 4 January 2013 Thanks for this today - its opened my eyes to a number of other viewpoints I'd never even considered. Personally I just need to keep my head down, keep working hard and scraping by and hoping things pick up I think. The alternative, not working at all, is unthinkable to me. So thanks for the debate and all that. ps 90's player was of course Iwan Roberts. No question.

It also helps to be young, single and unknowing of fear or old, comfortably off and with good connections.

All the money leaves and you are left in an economy where everyone is equally ****ed!

Jon the Hat Posted 4 January 2013 Posted 4 January 2013 It won't matter, France are in Euroland. There wont be a Euroland for long!
leicsmac Posted 4 January 2013 Posted 4 January 2013 Its a socialist utopia! All the money leaves and you are left in an economy where everyone is equally ****ed! And this is the problem. Solution? Universal tax system. No tax havens. Nowhere to run. Will it happen? Of course not!
Captain... Posted 4 January 2013 Posted 4 January 2013 And this is the problem. Solution? Universal tax system. No tax havens. Nowhere to run. Will it happen? Of course not! Yes, yes, so this. Been saying it for months now, and seeing as Britain owns abut 70% of the tax havens we should be the ones to start.
The People's Hero Posted 4 January 2013 Author Posted 4 January 2013 Yes, yes, so this. Been saying it for months now, and seeing as Britain owns abut 70% of the tax havens we should be the ones to start. How do you enforce all others to follow suit? You can't.
Captain... Posted 4 January 2013 Posted 4 January 2013 How do you enforce all others to follow suit? You can't. It would need global thinking and all nations working together for the benefit of the world as a whole rather than seeking to protect their own invested interests, so of course it will never happen, but it is nice to dream.
Finnegan Posted 4 January 2013 Posted 4 January 2013 OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH IWAN IS A WELSHMAN!
The People's Hero Posted 4 January 2013 Author Posted 4 January 2013 OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH IWAN IS A WELSHMAN! What we need is more Welsh players. In fact, when I get home I'm going to fire up FM2013 and sign every Welsh U19 player.
Finnegan Posted 4 January 2013 Posted 4 January 2013 What we need is more Welsh players. In fact, when I get home I'm going to fire up FM2013 and sign every Welsh U19 player. You'll probably get relegated.
The People's Hero Posted 4 January 2013 Author Posted 4 January 2013 You'll probably get relegated. Can't be that bad surely?
Guest Posted 4 January 2013 Posted 4 January 2013 There wont be a Euroland for long! Germany will never let their empire slip. and as for the Tax Havens thing. UK stopping thiers will just help others to open. Tax at source. A new form of PAYE for companies.
Guest Posted 4 January 2013 Posted 4 January 2013 or simply throw companies out that don't pay what you want. The power of the people showed itself with Starbucks but they are impotent against too many forms of companies.
Finnegan Posted 4 January 2013 Posted 4 January 2013 Can't be that bad surely? It definitely can. Football Manager has never been kind to Wales.
