Sky Sports understands a host of clubs have made approaches to take Manchester United starlet Ryan Tunnicliffe on loan.

The 20-year-old spent part of last term on loan at Championship side Peterborough United but since making his debut against Newcastle United earlier this season he has not been allowed out as he has been part of the first-team squad.

Sir Alex Ferguson though, is now considering whether to allow Tunnicliffe to gain some more first-team experience on loan or whether to keep him for the run-in to the Premier League season.

Reading, Leicester, Hull, Burnley and Wolves are amongst the clubs believed to be keen on taking Tunnicliffe.

I've never heard of the lad if i'm honest?

Manchester United midfielder Ryan Tunnicliffe has been charged with drink-driving after a car collided with a van in Greater Manchester.

Mr Tunnicliffe, 19, of Heywood, near Rochdale, was arrested after the crash on Saturday afternoon.

Police said a Range Rover collided with a van in Green Lane, Heywood. The van then collided with the wall of a house.

Mr Tunnicliffe was charged with driving with excess alcohol, Greater Manchester Police said.

He is due to appear at Bury Magistrates Court on 25 October.

Officers said the front seat passenger of the Range Rover suffered a minor whiplash injury in the collision and both vehicles were badly damaged.

The midfielder made his Manchester United debut against Newcastle United in the Capital One Cup last month. He was on loan to Peterborough United last season.

Just to point out that article was last year...

Please no more Man Utd youngsters!

Why, apart from Lingard the rest have been pretty successful and added to our team.

De Laet is better than Peltier

Drinkwater better than Wellens

James as good as King on current form

Marshall better than Gallagher

Keane also looks good

That was only a joke. An identiacal thread to this was started this afternoon and was deleted. In it were some comments like that.

For the record I agree with you.

He's a tough tackling midfielder with a limited but decent amount of technical ability. He's not one of the stand out youngsters and I couldn't tell how far he will go in football but he might be worth a punt for you guys if you were able to offer him first team opportunities. He'd probably be more suited to your team than Lingard was.

Possibly.

Unfortunately for Lingard, the 'footballers' we have at the club, (drinkwater, james, king, knockaert, marshall) were all better than him.

Where as in our squad we lack a 'tough tackling midfielder' so tunnicliffe may be decent for us, but many of our fellow fans would prefer to sign Liam Trotter, who is proven at this level.

Pretty sure Marshall's never played for United at any level. :P

Lingard wasn't so much unsuited to our team as unsuited to this division.

We've consistently played reasonably good football for the last few years, we keep the ball down, pass it around and you could see Lingard fitting in quite well in that regard. He never takes more touches than he needs to and often tries to add to the pace of a move. Maybe a little more suited to a Swansea than us but by no means out of place here.

The issue was his athleticism. He lacks the weight and strength to compete in what's a very physically challenging division and doesn't really have the pace to compensate. Nor, really, did he look to have the courage to throw himself at challenges regardless.

You can definitely see him having a future in the sport, he's technically gifted and seems quite clever, but he could do with a lot of work with your personal trainers before he goes back out again.
