And $25m for the winner.

Really hope Scottie can hang on here, as I know he could really use that.

Would take his on course earnings to $55m this year (plus around $15m in endorsements)

Forgot to add on another $8m for the Comcast bonus and around $10m for the Player Impact Programme bonus.

So that’s just shy of $80m this year for hitting a ball around a field.

Fair play Scottie!

Looking forward to the Solheim Cup this weekend.

The US desperate to win the cup back and the crowds getting more and more Ryder Cup style hostile every time.

Got a feeling we might see some more controversy/bad blood from the 'ladies'

Think the US will win. They're due a win. They're at home. And they have the better players on paper.

I’ll be honest I don’t usually watch women’s sport at all, but I bloody love the Solheim cup, I’ll watch as much of this as I do the Ryder cup.

I think America will win but agree I think it may spill over a few times due to them getting caught up in the hostile atmosphere.

Bring it on

Looking like 6-2 to the US after day 1.

Thoroughly deserved too, they played great all day.

Glimpses of good stuff here and there from Europe but overall I thought they played poorly and putted crap.

Massive hill to climb now. I can see the US running away with it unless we get another Miracle of Medinha.

Europe are going to lose this heavily, but it was impressive stuff from Charley Hull to take down Nelly Korda 6&4.

They probably will lose but certainly fought hard today .

Poor Rory meanwhile..

Another blow out .

These European girls have given a great account of themselves today, probably a bit too much of a mountain to climb in the end but a fantastic effort nonetheless. First session killed us.

Bought myself a new 54° wedge as the one I am currently using is from my old iron set. My newer Cobra irons didn't come with a SW/54 so I decided to get a full face grooved more modern one.

It's a Cobra Snakebite X to go with my Forged Tec irons. My irons are one length and all 8i length (36.75) so the wedge is custom built an inch longer (36.5) to help match up.

I'm also sticking a Golf Pride Midsize MCC Black/Gold grip on it myself. Cobra didn't have them in stock apparently (How? You're a huge company FFS!!) so will sort that tomorrow and give it a go in the back garden on the mat/net.

Great scenes at Wentworth, fantastic crowds.

Would be happy for Rory, Billy Ho or Aaron Rai to win.

Basically anyone but Thriston Lawrence.

Can't find any stories of him drowning puppies in a sack

Rory - Born to Runner-up

Been seeing this a lot about Rory since the US Open.

I think everyone in the golf world holds him to such a high standard that being runner up seems like a failure.

Bottom line is he's won over 40 times worldwide including 4 majors and the Players, plus won the US and European order of merit four times each. That's Hall of Fame stuff plus his RC exploits means he'll be remembered as a legend of the game.

Jack Nicklaus came 2nd 19 times in majors but he was never labeled a bottler and I think it's unfair that Rory is getting this treatment. He's in contention week after week and consistently been in the world top 10 for the last 15 years.

If he stays fit and healthy he's still got another 8-10 years at the top of the game and I'm sure has many more wins ahead of him.

I'm a huge fan and love watching him play. Probably the best driver of the golf ball ever.

Lovely dissertation Izzy. My comment was only meant as a gentle leg-pull. I think Rory has been unlucky on way more occasions than he has choked (although he has flat-out choked on more than a few occasions). Mostly though, someone else just plays out of their skin to pip him. Yesterday being a case in point.

Presidents Cup starts tomorrow.

I’ll watch in the hope that the International team are competitive and at least give the US a tight game.

Nowhere near the RC in terms of intensity but should still be a good weekend of golf.

Played for the first time in a while last weekend. Game always becomes inconsistent (more inconsistent) after about 13/14 holes due to bad shoulders. Shot 89 but had a great spell of +2 over 6 holes.

Anyway, has anyone been fitted for irons? I’m 6’3 and constantly feel like I’m reaching down playing every iron shot.

Obviously it would be ideal to be fitted up properly, but the wait really puts me off. Would off the shelf +.5 do the trick?

Any advice welcome as I’m a complete novice compared to some of you guys.

This time of year the wait for custom fit clubs will be less than two weeks. Possibly even a week turnaround. It's the spring and early summer when they'll be busiest after the new models come out.

I ordered a single custom fit wedge recently and it came within a week of them getting the order through.
