Your best bet is Anders Mankert at Leicester Golf Centre. Expensive but he’s a fantastic coach and has experience with one handed players.

I went to school with Anders and we were both juniors at Ullesthorpe GC together. My old man bought a new set of Ping clubs off him last year. Excellent coach as you say.

Have you played Ullesthorpe within the last 7 years?

I worked on the housing site at the end of the 2nd hole. Played it a couple of times and quite enjoyed it really

I haven't played Ullesthorpe since 2006 mate. When I was junior there in the early/mid 80's is was a slightly different layout so I was interested to see the changes they made. I always enjoyed playing there and have many fond memories as a youth learning the game.

I've lived down south for the last 25 years but when I go back to see my old man we play at Lutterworth where he's a member. Used to play a bit at Kilworth Springs, Cosby, and Whetstone too back in the day :)

Know a couple at Cosby now as well as the Pro Martin who left Forest Hill to join

Cosby has a really good reputation although yet to play it

I always liked the raised par 3 with the big bank at the back. 16th?

You can just smack one at it and use the bank if you catch hold of it too much.

It's a good one that hole, always hard to get the height and distance to stop it on the green.

13th just gives me kittens in case I murder someone on the A46 with a wayward drive.

I am a member at Cosby and we don't have a pro by the name of Martin,  I think he went to Kirby Muxloe.

Our reputation is mainly down to having many very good players including around a dozen off scratch or better.    Many casual golfers are not lovers off it though as it provides a very exacting test.

If you fancy testing yourself,  let me know.

Sorry he did go to Kirby Muxloe

My mates went from Kirby to Cosby, that’s my confusion in it all

Will do!

We’re supposed to be playing sometime as my mates had a voucher or something through from work

I’d be happy to have anyone up at Longcliffe too, especially on a Sunday when it can be sporadically quiet

I played Cosby once and won't play it again for a long time for my own mental health, tough for bad players

Had a couple of lessons there not too long ago with Darren who was a good coach though

Ooh I was probably a junior at Ullesthorpe about the same time as you. Graduated from junior ranks 1989.  Was also a junior member at Cosby at the same time!

Cosby was a lovely course (probably still is!) but Ullesthorpe was such good fun and such a social vibe.

Them were the days.

Small world! Can you remember the outdoor swimming pool at Ullesthorpe Court?

Happy days indeed :)

Only been to the Ryder Cup last day so it’s very different

Someone recommended getting on a Par 3 so you can see the players play the entire hole which I thought was a good tip

The following crowds will be huge around the likes of McIlroy and Fleetwood so I’d imagine staying put would be best

Sunday's an interesting day to go, I've been a couple of times on the Sunday and it's a weird one between splitting seeing your favourite players and watching the leaders.

The good thing is that unlike on Thursday and Friday, when all of the big names are grouped together, they are a bit more spread out.

My advise would be get there early, pick a couple of earlyish groups that you like the look of, and follow them for 5/6 holes at a time. The leaders don't start until quite late so you should have plenty of time to get round the whole course before they've even tee'd off.

Watching the leaders shot by shot is borderline impossible, it's so busy, my advise for this would be to get a few holes in front, pick a decent spot, and watch the last 5 or 6 groups come though, and repeat. As has already been suggested, something like a par 3 where you can watch them play the whole hole is a good option, if you get a decent spot in a grandstand you can sometimes see them tee off on the next hole as well which is good.

Don't know how it works around the 18th nowadays. In the past you could pile up just after the leaders had made the turn and you'd probably get a half decent view of the 18th green, which is quite cool to see, especially if it's tight, and you can watch the trophy presentation. But wouldn't surprise me if that's changed and it's now just corporate and specific tickets.

Enjoy it, it's a great day out, there's not many (if any) other sports where you can get so close to the players, you can literally hear them chatting to their caddies.

My current obsession with golf has been a great distraction from the shite being served up down the city atm. Can't wait to get out there again tomorrow morning!

RBC could be an amazing last day tomorrow

Both Fitzy and Scottie have won here before. Hard to bet against one of them doing it again.

I got told yesterday that Peter Allis during Masters commentary once said something like, ‘these greens are as quick as Cosby’s’ 😂

Is this true?

Here here.

Started so well yesterday and then fell off a cliff.. par, birdie, birdie start.. level through 9 and then horrific back 9. Completely fell apart, 3 doubles, did have one birdie but other than that very poor back 9!

Tuesday again after work will be the next outing, time to right some wrongs!
