Had a blast from the past the other day.  Friend of mine is just getting into golf and asked for a round which I will always jump at.  He decided on Enderby, which is somewhere I've not played since I hacking it around as a 16 year old.  Had an absolute blast and for £11 (15 for 18 but time was against us) for 9 you can't complain.  I'll drag him around my usual haunts (Forest Hill, Lingdale and Longcliffe) in the future but thought I'd give credit where it's due.  Perfect place for the new players.

Has he tried Six Hills?

Thats nice and open with much less chance of lost golf balls as say compared to Longcliffe, decent value too I think for £25 a round.

I played The Pastures on Sunday.

It’s such an odd sort of set up 😂

The ‘shop’ is a shipping container that was unattended Sunday morning (and locked with key pad entry for members)

The course itself is absolutely immaculate. My only bug bear were the greens, which took some getting used to (As Ryan Ruffells proved) as they were so bloody slow.

The other gripe was pace of play. On the back 9 it became a free for all. There were two balls hitting into two balls only 100 yards away on the fairway 🤷🏻‍♂️ (some other golfer gave these two on the tee a right lecture, and rightly so)

We made it past these two two balls of hackers after they both let us through thankfully. We then caught up with a group of 6 who were playing alternate shots.

They literally explained to us that they weren’t going to let us through because they’d already let two groups through 😅

They too were complete hackers and it became very frustrating. I wasn’t surprised (given their ignorance) to see one had a Forest towel on his bag 🙃

I thought I’d played well, but shot 6 over my handicap 🤣- most of those dropped shots were down to putting though. There’s two or three long par 3’s of around 190-210 yards

I think Golf England need to go visit again and up the slope rating imo.

I bet I can’t upload any photos on here, but I’ll give it a go.

Definitely worth the £22 green fee

I played it last year too, and yeah the little portacabin style "proshop" is very amusing. Course is very tough though as its so narrow, and the long par 3s.

I left my sand wedge next to a green when I played and didn't realise until I played the week after. Rang them up and someone had handed it in and was still in the cabin. So I won't hear a bad thing about them! I even took them a pack of beer as thanks.

How did you get on @Izzy

Played shit yesterday mate. Gross 86, Nett 76 so didn't qualify in the top 30 for day 2 of the gross club champs.

Just managed to qualify for day 2 of the Nett comp on the bubble (top 45) though, and played much better this morning. Gross 80, Nett 70 so two over my handicap for the 2 days combined.

Drove it well and putted good but my irons are so inconsistent. Scrambled my arse off tbh.

Enjoyed the two days though. Couse was in great nic.

I used to be a member at Ullesthorpe and Lutterworth as a youth but I've lived in Bucks for the last 20 years and my home course is Aylesbury Vale GC.https://www.avgc.co.uk/

It's 6600 yds off the whites and a decent test. The members are good lads and there's loads of comps on so I like it there.

Good luck this afternoon

It won’t let me upload the photo of my clubs currently sat in the outdoor bin, as the files too big

Not long now until the Big One- The Ryder Cup

Hows it going to go for Europe after last times humiliation?

Our team is confirmed on 4th September.

I’m lucky enough to have tickets for the final day. Fly out to Rome on the Saturday morning, then fly back to EMA from Milan on the Monday. Really cannot wait. For me, as a spectator sport, it’s up there with doing The Ashes

A lad I used to play Sunday league with Matt Fitzpatrick’s personal chef, so I’m hoping he’ll get picked and my mate can pull some strings for us 🤞🏼

Will be interesting to see what @Izzy thinks.

Last time out a hiding was highly likely and indeed it happened.

This year I’m actually quietly confident that Europe can do some damage.

McIlroy, Rahm, Hovland, Hatton, Fleetwood, Fitzpatrick, Straka & Rose have all showed good form at times over the past PGA season. MacIntyre will currently get in on European points.

Lowry has been a bit iffy lately but surely he’ll get picked. Then two places are firmly up for grabs imo.

I think it'll be a lot closer than Whistling Straights but still fancy the US as slight favourites. It's been 30 years since they've won it outright away from home and I think this is the year they'll break that streak.

Donald has got a really tough job on his hands with his picks. He could go for the likes of Straka, Rose, Lowrey, Power who play the PGA tour and even the likes of Aaron Rai and Matt Wallace, but I sense he might reward those who've mainly played the DP tour.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Paul, Meronk, Perez and Hojgaard get the nod instead.

As for the US, Zach has to pick Brookes IMO. And it wouldn't surprise me if he picked DJ too.

Justin Thomas amongst the picks for Zach Johnson.

Cam Young & Keegan Bradley the two of the “Top 12” to be left out.

JT is a lucky boy but no doubt him and Spieth will raise their games in Rome and win points.

Glover must feel a bit pissed off and I thought Bradley was trending and he loves the RC

Looking at the US team overall, I don't think the Europeans will feel intimidated.
