Ozwin Posted 29 January 2013 Posted 29 January 2013 I have been using TJ's in Aylestone for years now and need to change it up a bit. It's difficult because you can't exactly try before you buy.
whoareyaaa Posted 29 January 2013 Posted 29 January 2013 I have stopped using them, mainly because the majority of the food is disgusting and you can get stuff much cheaper from the shop which actually tastes better. I'll get a kebab from Cyprus on naraborugh road now and again decent but still nasty after you eat it.
Kitchandro Posted 29 January 2013 Posted 29 January 2013 Blaby Balti for Indian, Pizza Hut for pizza, Double Dragon or the one in Enderby for Chinese.
Finnegan Posted 29 January 2013 Posted 29 January 2013 Cyprus Kebab is ****ing dirt Burger House on Welford Road is quite nice. Not your usual dirt burger.
Danizen Posted 29 January 2013 Posted 29 January 2013 Stay away from Marina on Braunstone Gate. The place is dirty. I asked for a chicken kebab. Instead of cutting some off the kebab on the spit, he scooped some out of a plastic bucket on the floor and put it in the microwave! I got my money back and went Mario's. City Pizza on Upperton Road is good, though.

Danizen Posted 29 January 2013 Posted 29 January 2013 Best Indian Takeaway in Leicester is Spice of India in Syston. Really nice.
Guest MattP Posted 29 January 2013 Posted 29 January 2013 Do people actually use these sober? I go to Rothley chippy and occasionaly use Glenfield House Chinese but that's about it for me.
Webbo Posted 29 January 2013 Posted 29 January 2013 When my wife insists on takeaway we use Maxims in Syston. Not that keen on Chinese food myself, much prefer Indian.
lavrentis Posted 29 January 2013 Posted 29 January 2013 Wok Express, Roosters Piri Piri and for chippy I go to Walnut Street chippy
Guest Bilo Posted 29 January 2013 Posted 29 January 2013 I struggled to find a decent kebab house in Leicester when at uni, seriously. Golden Spice on Narborough Road was good for a cheap 'n' dirty kebab at 2am while Doner Master was better quality, watch your change though. The cost depends on how shit they think your maths skills are in my experience.
lavrentis Posted 29 January 2013 Posted 29 January 2013 Even when pissed stay away from Maryland Chicken. Terrible!
Parafox Posted 29 January 2013 Posted 29 January 2013 After watching certain undercover (and full profile) programmes on TV and reading stuff in the LM I wouldn't go near most cheapo take-aways like those on Narborough Road/Highfields I struggled to find a decent kebab house in Leicester when at uni, seriously. Guest MattP Posted 29 January 2013 Posted 29 January 2013 Even when pissed stay away from Maryland Chicken. Terrible! People who eat from that place make me feel sick.
Donut Posted 29 January 2013 Posted 29 January 2013 ''Takeaway'' is a bit broad and are we just talking about inner city leicester?
Parafox Posted 29 January 2013 Posted 29 January 2013 People who eat from that place make me feel sick. How do you think tney feel?
Guest MattP Posted 29 January 2013 Posted 29 January 2013 How do you think tney feel? Hopefully very sick but the people who actually do eat at the place seem to enjoy it. I tried something from it once when I was blindo and it was terrible.
Ozwin Posted 29 January 2013 Author Posted 29 January 2013 I don't know the difference between half the currys anymore, there's that many of them so never bother ordering it in . Stick to my microwave birds eye currys thank you very much.
Guest Bilo Posted 29 January 2013 Posted 29 January 2013 Even when pissed stay away from Maryland Chicken. Terrible! The rumours that they were serving pigeon always made me howl. Munch Munch is the place to be seen, hot chilli sauce bottles out for squeezing on your burger/chicken pieces too.

McIndians is ok as well, got a decent food hygiene rating and serve up some half decent grub (well as good as it gets for a town takeaway).
Parafox Posted 29 January 2013 Posted 29 January 2013 Hopefully very sick but the people who actually do eat at the place seem to enjoy it. I tried something from it once when I was blindo and it was terrible. It doesn't even sound nice or look enticing.
I am Rod Hull Posted 29 January 2013 Posted 29 January 2013 I don't know the difference between half the currys anymore, there's that many of them so never bother ordering it in . Stick to my microwave birds eye currys thank you very much. Try making your own. I make a batch that yields 10 to 12 portions for around £10 and freeze them, costs about £10 to make and its on par (if not better) with takeaways and it does`nt contain anyone elses bodily fluids.
Parafox Posted 29 January 2013 Posted 29 January 2013 Vesta beef curry... can't go wrong.. it lasts for years in the packet. Zingari will remember them.

McIndian's was very decent actually, always enjoyed it. Good value too. Bombay Bites was great as well, lovely little curries in a box. Not the cheapest but the quality was there.
