DJMadness29 Posted 31 January 2013 Posted 31 January 2013 When I'm back in leicester we use Bucks for chips/kebabs, Hings in Anstey for chinese (parents go that often all my dad says is hello and they say hello mr jones) and for indian if having take away then Grand dubar. Pizzas either The hut or dominos as usually find vouchers for them.
Guest MattP Posted 31 January 2013 Posted 31 January 2013 I've just received this in an email and I thought it'd make an interesting addition to this thread. I've searched some of the places in here and I think I'll give a few of them a miss! http://ratings.food....arch/en-GB?sm=1 Maryland comes up with a 1, priceless

Mike the Metal Ed Posted 31 January 2013 Posted 31 January 2013 Some people aren't as picky when it comes to fast food...
act smiley Posted 31 January 2013 Posted 31 January 2013 pretty sure someone found a birds brain in a kfc meal and also someone got brain damage from kfc as well, so you will not be seeing me in one again. Un-tasty pieces being found in mechanically processed foods isn't exactly new, and given the sheer number of outlets they have its not surpising there's the occasional serious hygiene lapse. Could be worse, there's a place I have no idea what the name of it is but became known at work as "Dirty Chicken", guaranteed food poisoning for everyone except one person who quite liked it.
MrsJohnMurphy Posted 31 January 2013 Posted 31 January 2013 Braunstone Chippy, Edward Ave Top hygiene rating, great Kebabs, great chips.
Stand UP... Posted 31 January 2013 Posted 31 January 2013 Vojan in Anstey is the best for curry. Immense go for the North Indian garlic chili chicken. It will make your mouth water thinking about it 2 days later, yes 2
Langston Posted 1 February 2013 Posted 1 February 2013 Maryland comes up with a 1, priceless Marina on Braunstone Gate - Last inspected October 2012 - Food Hygiene Rating - 0. Thank the lord I always swerved it, I didn't even think that was possible.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 1 February 2013 Posted 1 February 2013 George's Pizza on Aylestone Road is a favourite of mine http://www.georgespizza.co.uk/
FoxesAreBlue Posted 1 February 2013 Posted 1 February 2013 Just out interest, do you guys who list the kebab houses eat kebab's for your dinner sober? I've always assumed that people only ate them after a few jars? Anyway for me, and given what I do a take away is quite rare but I to have one every ow and then. The Indian in my village used to be quite good but not so anymore, its called the Balti Hut. Now I use the one in Barlestone called Sylhetti (sp). As for pizza, Dominoes. All day long. I used to love donner meat and chips in chilli sauce after a night out however all the kebab shops seem the same to me. Now I tend to go just for a burger and chips though as I can't be arsed with the brown rain all next day.

Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 1 February 2013 Posted 1 February 2013 What the hell do you have to do to get a rating of ZERO?! Shit in the food?! "Shit in the food" tends to earn a score of 1 (providing it makes up less than 50% of the mass of the meal). Zero is usually awarded when hypodermic needles contaminated with AIDS are found in the food samples.
RobHawk Posted 1 February 2013 Posted 1 February 2013 Ruby's Chip shop in Thringstone was the balls when i was a kid! Also liked Jonny Wong's in Whitwick but i think half the appeal was walking round saying Jonny Wong in a Chinese accent for 1/2 an hour! There's a place across the road from emporium (is it still called that?) in Coalville that did a a kebab meat pizza that was really good when hammered! But the best pizza place was Mario's near the clock tower, the spicy chicken pizza was extraordinary! I used to love Wise Plaice on station Road in my teens after a few down the Vic, chicken kebab meat and chips! Delicious! Closed down and demolished now i think!
lavrentis Posted 1 February 2013 Posted 1 February 2013 Zero rating Something to be proud of that. Does anyone know if its random visits they do, it must be
Soar Fox Posted 1 February 2013 Posted 1 February 2013 George's Pizza on Aylestone Road is a favourite of mine http://www.georgespizza.co.uk/ George's is vile prefer going over the road to Piccadilly. Saying that I do use George's for a taxi it seems all he charges is £5 for anywhere in leicester. Mind you, you do have to go wherever he's delivering to first though.
lavrentis Posted 1 February 2013 Posted 1 February 2013 I posted on here a while back asking about Little Tokyo, on Braunie gate. I have eaten from there and it is very nice.

Dr The Singh Posted 1 February 2013 Posted 1 February 2013 Best vegi pizza is just vegi pizza on narborough road, they do some good indo-pizza's at a great price aswell, 3 pizza's for £12!!

That reminds me, a mate of mine used to go to the takeway /pizza place on brauny get and order a pizza for delivery and jump on the back of the motorcycle for a lift home and hence save taxi fare!!

Ruby's had that reputation for ages, as did Jonny Wong's. Are you on about Kasmir opposite Emporium? Wise Plaice did close down, opened up under a new name, and though I live about 2 mins from there I can't actually tell you what the building is now!
marko Posted 1 February 2013 Posted 1 February 2013 That reminds me, a mate of mine used to go to the takeway /pizza place on brauny get and order a pizza for delivery and jump on the back of the motorcycle for a lift home and hence save taxi fare!! Did it never occur to him to just ring from home to save going there in the first place?
Orkneyfox Posted 3 February 2013 Posted 3 February 2013 Zero rating Something to be proud of that. Does anyone know if its random visits they do, it must be Frequency of visits will be based on a risk rating. That depends on a number of factors, type of food, size of place ( how many folk they can poison) and will include any previous poor performance. I would expect a 0 rated place to be having follow up visits plus fairly frequent regular checks, at least till it improved ...but maybe all the cut backs means no one goes at all and the zero rating just means it has never been scored. The Willows Chinese Chip Shop near me is pretty good. Boxed chinese happy meal for £5.
