JonnyBoy Posted 3 February 2013 Posted 3 February 2013 can never understand why people pay for dominoes, an Indian or Chinese fair enough but a pizza is a pizza and the dominoes pizza's are not anything special at all. Aren't they around 16 quid for a large? I'm a student and get 2 for 1 vouchers but feel ill paying 8 pounds. Peri grill near the station does v.good peri peri chicken, just as good as nando's if not better and v.cheap. As for Indian, its not a takeaway as such but a balti house on green lane called T&K balti house i think? take your own booze and the place has won awards, cheap and the best curry i have ever had
BoneDog Posted 3 February 2013 Posted 3 February 2013 Yeah Dominos is a flipping rip off, but I use them because the other local one once sent me a pizza with a mouldy base. Home made pizzas are far superior, but my local Sainsbury's has stopped selling the bases and I don't know how to make the base myself. Suppose it's easy enough though. Here's my home made pizza menu - Tomato Puree on base, grated mature cheddar all over, chopped onion, chopped tomato, mushrooms and green pepper on top. Slap it in the oven for 10-12 minutes. Nice food.
Vlad the Fox Posted 3 February 2013 Posted 3 February 2013 That reminds me, a mate of mine used to go to the takeway /pizza place on brauny get and order a pizza for delivery and jump on the back of the motorcycle for a lift home and hence save taxi fare!! I walked in the spice of India (syston) once and asked for a takeaway to be delivered, taking me with it. Quite drunk but they got the Jag out and one of the owners took me home.

Nice food. you can even go to ASDA and create your own massive pizza with stuffed crust the lot for about 4 quid M&S dine in for two is £10 and includes a bottle of wine! i know which i would rather have i guess people have different priorities and preferences
Webbo Posted 3 February 2013 Posted 3 February 2013 Hong Kong does a lovely Chinese. That'd be the millions of Chinese people who live there.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 3 February 2013 Posted 3 February 2013 Speaking of ASDA pizzas - their Mexican Chili from the pizza counter are incredible. Well more than the sum of its parts

Bert Posted 3 February 2013 Posted 3 February 2013 Pizza Hut or dominoes for pizza. Otherwise the only takeaway I have is Chinese but that's only because there's one across the road from my house.
Soar Fox Posted 3 February 2013 Posted 3 February 2013 Love a dominos pizza. Large pepperoni passion with jalapeño's and a strippers combo.
Danizen Posted 3 February 2013 Posted 3 February 2013 Frequency of visits will be based on a risk rating. That depends on a number of factors, type of food, size of place ( how many folk they can poison) and will include any previous poor performance. I would expect a 0 rated place to be having follow up visits plus fairly frequent regular checks, at least till it improved ...but maybe all the cut backs means no one goes at all and the zero rating just means it has never been scored. The Willows Chinese Chip Shop near me is pretty good. Boxed chinese happy meal for £5. I doubt that, mate. Having been to that dive, zero seems generous. Stay away from Marina on Braunstone Gate. The place is dirty. I asked for a chicken kebab. Instead of cutting some off the kebab on the spit, he scooped some out of a plastic bucket on the floor and put it in the microwave! I got my money back and went Mario's.
lavrentis Posted 5 February 2013 Posted 5 February 2013 Got something en-route from Burger House, anyone had anything from them before?
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 6 February 2013 Posted 6 February 2013 I signed up for Costco a couple of months back and decided to try their takeaway pizza the other night - fantastic value for money. Only choose between Pepperoni, BBQ Chicken or Margherita; opted for Pepperoni. Tasted just like a Pizza Hut, plenty of cheese, soft but crispy base - absolutely massive. Feed 4 no problem (or 2 properly fat bastards) - all for £8. Took just over 5 mins from ordering to collecting n' all. Will be doing that again soon
Finnegan Posted 6 February 2013 Posted 6 February 2013 Got something en-route from Burger House, anyone had anything from them before? Yep. It's not exactly gourmet but it's nicer than your standard dirt burger. Chips are shit though.

Yeah burgers were really nice actually, and yes you are right the chips are terrible Probably the worst chips I have had from a takeaway actually
DB11 Posted 6 February 2013 Posted 6 February 2013 I've been in Maryland Chicken a few times but I do not get anything from there. It's dirty!
BoneDog Posted 6 February 2013 Posted 6 February 2013 Indian on the way. Saag Aloo Aloo Gobi Nan Chick Jalf Veg Rice Omellette and something else forgot what. Big plate or two.
Webbo Posted 6 February 2013 Posted 6 February 2013 Indian on the way. Saag Aloo Aloo Gobi Nan Chick Jalf Veg Rice Omellette and something else forgot what. Big plate or two. Plain naan or garlic?
FrankieADZ Posted 6 February 2013 Posted 6 February 2013 For Chinese, tend to use Happy House in Melton. Very good imo
BoneDog Posted 6 February 2013 Posted 6 February 2013 Plain naan or garlic? Plain Naan. Don't think I've ever had a garlic one. Had a keema one before, but that's it probably. Love the naan bread with a piece of chicken wrapped in it. Ate all the rice and potato sides first which was more than a plate full, and then started on the jalfrezi and naan and couldn't eat it all. Way too much. Left loads so washed the chick off and chucked it outside. Not sure if oat'll eat it with it being spicy and that. Foxes, cats and hedgehogs - first come, first served. Hopefully no rats. Don't want riff-raff round here.
lavrentis Posted 6 February 2013 Posted 6 February 2013 I only have to just walk in my local Chinese now and she knows which order is mine and gives it to me. I think I should go in there less often.
