Pearson under pressure

Recommended Posts

Why are we even discussing this? This is based on unsourced speculation in a tabloid. While we're in with a shout of promotion Pearson is 99% certain to be manager.

Adkins had a meeting with Leeds owners a few weeks ago. So he's wanted there too. Neil Lennon also been linked with Leeds. So its all rubbish by the sounds of it.

How on earth can you say that ? I mean someone poster a twater link about it on here about it !!! Anyway he should be sacked for making Wood play with a fractured knee cap. Haven't you seen the photos of Adkins on here and I mean he was "called in " to see the owners nothing to do with the figures being released this week.

Try telling that to Thracian

Earlier in the season when there was talk of Pearson being sacked I was absolutely behind him.

We were playing excellent, exciting, enterprising, attacking football both home and away and not getting the results we deserved.

However, in the last two months we've abdicated this philosophy in favour of some shit-on-a-stick long ball. Over the last couple of months, the poor results have been exactly what we deserved.

Pearson seems to have completely lost the plot. His post-match interviews suggest that he's not unimpressed with what he's seeing, which given the levels he had these guys playing at for months is astonishing.

But we have been here before with Pearson (January 2012, March 2010) and he's turned it around both times. He seems to have a way of getting the team to pull themselves together, but sadly this season it may be too late.

If he does get the boot (and i hope he doesnt) he'll only have himself to blame for abandoning such a successful and exciting philosophy as soon as automatic promotion became a possibility.

I agree with you here. I can't understand why we've started playing hoofball after our attacking, pressing football earlier in the season. What did he think we would gain by playing this new, terrible style of play?

I want Pearson to stay, I just wish he'd go back to how we were playing earlier in the season.

Your acting as if he Pearson can say "Go and win the match" and it'll automatically happen.

Its not that easy.

Presumably you didn't go to last weeks Blackburn game mate. Certainly no hoofball to be seen in one of the best performances of the season.

Of course I'm not, but I can't imagine that lumping the ball up to Chris Wood from every goal kick or set piece in our own half wasn't a tactical decision from him.

If the opposition are harrying the midfield and stopping them from playing then you need a Plan B. If playing football on the ground isn't working then you have to try something else.

Let's be honest, if any of us were this bad at our jobs (and having read this forum for a while I'll bet a lot of you either are a) that bad at your jobs or b) simply don't see the point in having a job, benefits are great) then we'd be on our last warning by now.

Lets hope he's gone sooner rather than later.

No offence but weren't you definitely leaving for good yesterday?

I'm gone. Just signed in to reply to a few PMs and got carried away.

Wanted to share my Cheltenham tips too.

Hope this kills off the 'attention seeking' myth though. As is plainly obvious, posters with nothing better to do follow me around

It's hard not to come across your posts, you're the tenth highest poster today. I don't mind if you stay or go I just wish you weren't such a drama queen about it.

We're not even trying to pass the ball any more.

You said the owners have given every indication, yet the only indication you can can come up with is how they reacted to rumours 6 months ago!!

I can't see any reason why their apparent opinion of six months ago would have changed.

But why?

Is it his personality? The fact he left us before? Because we have money?

It does feel like Holloway, Kelly, Levein, Allen, Sven were never as successful as NP, and yet had more support from the fans, there was never this kind of hostility when we went on bad runs, which lasted months rather than weeks, so why NP?

I think it's simply the fact that he's not a particularly likeable bloke. He may be lovely if you get to know him - but all we have to go on is the relationship he has with us through the media.

I honestly can't think of any other reason - because you're right - taking emotion out of the equation and it seems we shouldn't have such a divide.

I think the owners must have had a word with him about it as in his Sheff pre/post match interviews on RL and the FLS, he certainly came across as a bit more open and personable

Yeah to be fair he did .... I actually felt a twinge of pity for the bloke - he finally had a little bit of humility at the point where it seems too late for him.

I mean what's going on.

A long established member of envied British Press says Pearson is going if we lose... We lost and yet a few days later with preparations for our biggest game of the season well underway, he's still here.

It's almost like they're making it up.

Fair enough if they had quotes directly attributable to the owners or their representatives.

Fair enough if they'd got inside info from a replacement they've secretly been in talks with.

But they had nothing, other than scouting fans forums and seeing a thread with a few posts when they've got some whitespace to fill & ads surrounding it to sell & blowing it up into a story.

Perhaps they'll cut & paste the article & use tomorrow... and then every game until the end of the season.
