I must have been dreaming when we went for weeks without a manager after Sven went and got turned down by several managers (was reported at the time that MoN and Curbishley turned us down)Ok, it is not a proven fact that the owners panicked and got Nige in but the fact they have to pay him a million quid a year and had to pay significant compenastion to dull for a guy who has achieved little in his career suggests they weren't getting it all their own way. Regardless of who allegedly turned us down - and don't get me started on how much shit is printed in those sports pages - the amount of effort they had to go to and the amount of money they had to spend to get NP back from Hull would suggest to me that it was in no way at all a 'panic' signing. If they were panicking there were plenty of decent options on the market at the time who were either out of work or would have been considerably cheaper and easier to get in than Pearson. Billy Davies was out of work at the time and I'm sure he would've been interested. In fact, with owners spending a fortune, a perceived 'fantastic' squad and with the team in a pretty decent position, there would have been a lot of managers interested in the position. I refuse to believe they turned to NP as a last resort when there would have been other cheaper, easier targets on the market who could have done a good job at the club. Pearson is their man, he might not have been first choice, but he's the man they wanted, whether you like it or not. I was speaking to one of the dads at my daughters dance class this evening, and after the our normal question to each other of how will we do, what's the score etc. he said it's all academic as the deal has been done. What deal ? The new manager he said. Rubbish I replied. I managed after a few mins. to get out of him who 'he has been told' will be the new manager, Roy Keane was his answer. Now before you all come back with the choruses of, bollocks, your talking sh1t etc. I will say " it's what I've been told by him," and I'm only passing on what I've heard. And yes it could be all be bollocks and sh1t. I asked him his source, to which he replied, "well it's two really, an ex player who's still linked to the club and the other is currently at the club, both said the same to me, that it was Roy" So over to you all, it's a forum after all. Personally I'm inclined to think that he's being told porkie pies by his source's, but stranger things have happened at our club!
