birdwith2beaksandnofriends Posted 9 March 2013 Posted 9 March 2013 Are you a fvcking retard? Seriously, why the fvck would you choose to believe a baseless unsubstantiated rumour? What evidence do you have that there was any sort of bust up, other than the incoherent dribbling of your fellow inmates? Why do people actively want to to stir up trouble and spread this crap and turn the fans against the players or the manager? You're supposed to be a fvcking Leicester fan grow the fvck up. I'd agree if it wasn't something which cropped up with such regularity. How can there be so much smoke and so many separate incidences of smoke and yet no fires?
Leicester_Numan Posted 9 March 2013 Posted 9 March 2013 I think I'm misreading your stance and vice versa. My point was had under his first reign we been playing in the championship our win rate wouldn't have been so high meaning in affect he's been more successful this time round at a higher standard My view is that his win rate probably would have been a bit lower in his first stint if we'd been in the championship for his first season. However he did overachieve with an average squad for this level in his second. What those stats do show is that he is not as bad a manager as some people have tried to make out since the day he came back. My view is he's a good manager, not a great one, not a brilliant one, not a managerial god, but a good one, no more no less at this point. I hope we keep him and he goes on to be a great one.
birdwith2beaksandnofriends Posted 9 March 2013 Posted 9 March 2013 What we really need to keep in mind is that the only view that really matters is that of the owners. I can't see as that they'll have been thrilled with him falling out with/discarding so readily, the assets they'd made considerable investment in bringing to the club, only to replace them with players who on current form are not that much better. Secondly though, relationship with fans IS crucial. If you lose the fans, the board will often act. In this case, NP really is treading dangerous ground as he abuses and dismisses all and anyone who dares to question him (even those whose job it is to do so!)
Fox92 Posted 9 March 2013 Posted 9 March 2013 But even accepting we are a yo-yo club, we should be challenging for promotion in this division year in, year out, even without he massive investment. I can't see how, with the investment and backing he has had, people can see possibly reaching the play offs as a success? Where is your ambition people? This is typical of Leicester and is part of the culture at the club which is part of the reason we've never won anything of note. A 90%. Too satisfied with the mediocre. I'm not too satisfied for mediocre (that was standard pre-Pearson) but I would have taken a play off spot prior to the season starting.
Leicester_Numan Posted 9 March 2013 Posted 9 March 2013 I'd agree if it wasn't something which cropped up with such regularity. How can there be so much smoke and so many separate incidences of smoke and yet no fires? It only crops up because of people posting it on here and twitter. If you post something like that regularly enough, people start to believe it. There are still idiots that believe Gary Numan is a gay, alien robot that came to earth to crash planes ffs.

LJS Posted 9 March 2013 Posted 9 March 2013 The mistake many are making here, by the way, is in focusing on results alone. I suspect his post-match interview on Tuesday will have pissed the owners off somewhat. Whatever you think of them, and I'm cynical myself, they have at least tried to give the impression that they want to please the fans. Now, most of us I'm sure aren't naive enough to be bought by free DVDs, scarves, tv screens and all the rest of it. But they are at pains to highlight their emphasis on 'customer service'. Their senior public facing operational manager is openly antagonising those customers and that isn't compatible with their own PR approach. I'd wager that his attitude towards the supporters will be more than a small consideration when they come to make a choice about Pearson's future come May.
dynamark Posted 9 March 2013 Posted 9 March 2013 Tuesday nights 'interview'was dreadful. If the guy worked for you ask yourself wouldnt you have had a serious word along the lines of'it must never happen again'.Fans walked out early at the Millwall home game and Sven was gone on the Monday -tipping point. And he was brilliant with the media.Lets hope for a decent win today and some lightening of the mood, few smiles all round.Loss and anything could happen

I wasn't particularly happy with his post match interview on Tuesday, I don't think you'll find anyone that was but I do understand him being a bit angry. He had just received a mouthful of abuse from a fan that was bad enough to get him to react. I suspect the reaction and subsequent interview is what he was called into a meeting with the owners for. He was certainly more pleasant with Stringer yesterday
Thracian Posted 9 March 2013 Posted 9 March 2013 "About sums it up. The owners give every impression of looking for an excuse to move him out." - sorry, please tell me where they have made any comment on the situation? I must have missed it. I agree that he has his limitations, but until the end of the season he should stay in charge. The Thais will have known his strong points when they hired him, and will have taken our financial situation in to account in his appointment. The first indications I recall came when Harry Redknapp was cited as being in the wings for his job before our dramatic recovery. i was never convinced by our owners response to that. The appearance of Adkins at the stadium, the odd seemingly informed comment from people on here...they all add up to an "indication" to me. As does the apparent change of mood and lowered level of performance on the pitch and by far too many players at the same time. If you're expecting me to find direct quotes you're not likely to get em. Few owners, if any, would openly say they're interested in having someone else as boss but they might say they're not given the way the fans seem to be split right now. Few doubt that the owners want promotion as the return on their investment and, having put ourselves in position to achieve that we've twice faltered fairly dramatically, most lately with games running out fast and automatic promotion rivals moving ahead of us - probably beyond our reach. It leaves the owners in a quandry given that this season might offer as good a chance of going up as any we're likely to get in the near future. Do they stick or twist? There's no certain right or wrong - just uncomfortable options. Either way I don't think they're happy about the slump and I don't think Adkins would have turned up for an evening out either. Perhaps none of this equals an "indication" to you of disatisfaction but, couipled with some of the body language on and off our pitch of late, it does to me. As for staying in charge (at least) "until the end of the season" that's your opinion and given the choice it would mine as well. But if we don't go up it will be a massive opportunity lost for no good reason that I can see, other than the way we've been managed, coached and set up tactically. The owners surely know that and will need to see us rapidly back on track and playing with the sort of swagger we showed earlier in the season and which another poster alluded to.

LJS Posted 9 March 2013 Posted 9 March 2013 Was Adkins really at the game? I've seen it said on here but nowhere else.
Jon the Hat Posted 9 March 2013 Posted 9 March 2013 If they dont know believe Pearson can get us back into the Auto spots they might as well replace him now. We just might get an upturn in performance to take us up through the playoffs. I dont see much downside for them if they do believe that. However, if as suggest on the Bentley's thread it is Roy ****ing Keane then I am not interested anymore. The bloke is a twat of the highest proportions, and I would want him to fail utterly.
LJS Posted 9 March 2013 Posted 9 March 2013 Neil Lennon is the latest to be mentioned on Bentleys but I don't think they've ever got anything right, have they?
MC Prussian Posted 9 March 2013 Posted 9 March 2013 Who in their right state of mind would still use Bentleys Roof?
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 9 March 2013 Posted 9 March 2013 People are confusing themselves with raw facts here. Pearson might have an impressive win rate but he has never managed us in the top tier. It's a nonsense measure. Yes, he wins lots of games at this level. But look back through our history and you will see that Leicester City doing well at this level is not outside of the norm. The last decade or so has been the worst in our history and that seems to have sapped the ambition from our fanbase. We have spent (roughly) as much time in the top flight as we have in this league. We are not a huge club but, with the greatest of respect to them, we aren't Barnsley either. A promotion challenge is what we should expect every time we are at this level. Anything less is underachieving. Pearson is merely performing to par. Perhaps even below if you consider what he has spent. For some of you winning games in this league might be enough. It isn't for me. I want us in the top flight, pitting our wits against the very best. I can accept that a club of our stature is likely to yo-yo between the top two leagues. But I certainly won't be grateful for top six finishes in the second tier unless there is promotion at the end of it. Good post
LJS Posted 9 March 2013 Posted 9 March 2013 Who in their right mind of state would still use Bentleys Roof? I use it like a zoo. You don't get to see much casual racism flying about these days so it's a good way to remember how we've advanced as a society.

The potential upturn in performance crossed my mind but it could as easily be the opposite, with Pearson-players becoming disillusioned even though the lure of the Premiership ought to drive anyone on. Agree entirely about Keane. I did think he'd make a good manager once but I fast changed my mind. Adkins or DiMatteo might have a chance and would probably play the sort of football we could and should be playing.
Fox1norfolk Posted 9 March 2013 Posted 9 March 2013 Lose today and I guess it NP would be walking away on Monday. The owner's have invested around £40 million and hired two managers so far to achieve Prem status and produce interest on their investment. I would suggest its imperative for them to have LCFC in the Prem next season and how they do could be very interesting e.g. 'short , sharp, shock Manager' could still be brought in to achieve promotion. They bought LCFC to have their club in the Prem with the great TV exposure in the Far East would be a massive bonus for their business interests there, being in the Championship any longer is of no value to them. So achieving their goal I think anything goes.
Guest ttfn Posted 9 March 2013 Posted 9 March 2013 Earlier in the season when there was talk of Pearson being sacked I was absolutely behind him. We were playing excellent, exciting, enterprising, attacking football both home and away and not getting the results we deserved. However, in the last two months we've abdicated this philosophy in favour of some shit-on-a-stick long ball. Over the last couple of months, the poor results have been exactly what we deserved. Pearson seems to have completely lost the plot. His post-match interviews suggest that he's not unimpressed with what he's seeing, which given the levels he had these guys playing at for months is astonishing. But we have been here before with Pearson (January 2012, March 2010) and he's turned it around both times. He seems to have a way of getting the team to pull themselves together, but sadly this season it may be too late. If he does get the boot (and i hope he doesnt) he'll only have himself to blame for abandoning such a successful and exciting philosophy as soon as automatic promotion became a possibility.
Leicester_Numan Posted 9 March 2013 Posted 9 March 2013 Was Adkins really at the game? I've seen it said on here but nowhere else. I've seen it said that he actually wasn't. Did anyone actually see him with their own eyes?
Babylon Posted 9 March 2013 Posted 9 March 2013 Spot on. This is not about a witch hunt for NP, but the points you make about his complacency and lowering of expectations is correct. I understand about taking pressure off his players, but his actions have done the opposite and put pressure on! Other questions are why has Shlupp not played since Novembef if he is good enough for a trial at man united? What's happened to Chris Wood? On fire at the start, then a rumoured bust up with NP and he's not the same player. What was the bust up at the beginning of the season with SSL? Why did we only start the season with two recognised centre backs on the books? Perhaps you need to understand the difference between uniteds development squad and our first team top end of the Champ. Playing for one does not exclusively mean you are good enough for the other. Wood is still averaging 1 in 3, less if you want to include the cup. Did you think he'd average 2 a game all season? What bust up, why make stuff up? We had three senior centre backs on the books! There is a lot of sense spoken in this thread from both sides in fairness. What weakens the good arguments but forward by the pro-Pearson thinkers are that most of the complete loons seem to be on their side. That does weaken the good points they make, but it does dilute them. Says the man with multiple accounts who tipped or for relegation. There are plonkers on both sides here.

WhenYourSmilingLCFC Posted 9 March 2013 Posted 9 March 2013 Adkins had a meeting with Leeds owners a few weeks ago. So he's wanted there too. Neil Lennon also been linked with Leeds. So its all rubbish by the sounds of it.
