Pearson under pressure

If they're going to get rid of Pearson, I'd be gutted but I'd rather that they did it now so that I don't bother renewing my season ticket for next season.

Not because we'll necessarily be sh*t. But I just wouldn't agree with the way that the club is being run and it'd be big backwards step and bang out of order.

I hope it's true because the same thing was said just before christmas and then we went on that unbeaten run and Pearson got manager of the month . Hopefully the same will happen again , but a bit longer unbeaten run this time.

Oh good, that will cure my insomnia.

It would be absolute madness to sack him now. We're 5th and could win the playoffs. How could you sack Pearson when so far, he hasn't failed? He has made significant improvements to the team. Plus there's only 2 months to go til the end of the season, what advantage would sacking him and bringing in someone else be? Il be seething if they sack him.

Couldn't agree more, can't understand the hate for him.

At the start of the season top 6 was my realistic aim...we're achieving that so far with a young squad which some players are playing their first full season in this competitive league.

The season has gone to plan

We are going to lose games we should win

We will win games we should maybe lose

No team in the football league has a right to win anything.

I am happy with the job that Pearson has been doing/ told to do since Sven left.

I hope the owners don't decide to undo all the hard work that has gone into this season from Pearson and the backroom staff

I've only just got in, was anything said or was it just the usual Pearson dribble?

Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson says there is no extra weight of expectation on his shoulders in the bid to achieve Championship promotion this season.

The Foxes, who were second in mid-February, have won one of the last six Championship games, slumping to fifth and eight points off the top two.

"I don't feel the pressure at all," Pearson told BBC East Midlands Today.

"People keep trying to ramp things up, it remains the same situation that it was in July and August."

City's promotion hopes were boosted by a fine run of form over the festive period and the turn of the year, resulting in six wins from seven in all competitions.

Pearson remains upbeat

Nigel Pearson's Leicester City are still in contention for promotion despite a run of one win in six.

"The mood is good, we've had a run of games where we've not picked up as many points as we'd have liked, but we've worked really hard to get ourselves into this position.

"There is a determination within the group that we can see the job through so I don't buy into the negative crap that comes with one or two indifferent results.

"I think we have and will distance ourselves from that sort of reaction in certain areas.

"We're know that all the games we play now are increasingly important and it's important the pressure that goes with those games we enjoy."

However a shock defeat at Peterborough in February has triggered the downturn, stalling Leicester's promotion bid.

The former West Bromwich Albion and Hull City boss took over in November last season after Sven Goran Eriksson's departure but was unable to guide the club to the play-offs.

Summer recruitment, including big money signings such as Jermaine Beckford and Jamie Vardy, in addition to the investment of the club's owners the previous campaign saw City installed among the favourites for a return to the Premier League.

Despite being involved in promotion picture, the last month's fortunes have prompted media speculation around Pearson's future at the King Power Stadium.

"It's the Championship, the biggest single factor is we've not taken enough of our chances, our defensive record remains very good, as a team we've scored a decent amount of goals but we've not taken chances at key moments," Pearson added.

"We've got really good players here and lots of options in attacking positions so I've not doubt that will happen again quickly.

"Our owners have a huge commitment to the football club over a sustained period of time and the most important thing for us is that we recognise where we are,

"We're all working extremely hard within the club, we have a shared responsibility and an ownership in what we do.

"The owners have been transparent in how they've tried to put together promotion campaigns and it's it happened for us so far but hopefully it will happen this year."

Not sure what to make of the rumours doing the rounds that it's a must win for Pearson tomorrow or he's on his way...........

I would panic and worry about them if I was you, I probably won't sleep until he definitely has or hasn't been sacked, actually I've not slept since before christmas when these rumours were also doing the rounds, and last season, when a highly reputable newspaper like the Sun prints an article using modals of certainty like "could" and "may" with such a reliable source that they don't even have to name it, then you should take it as absolute gospel.

It'll be alright. We're getting the chances in we're just not putting them away. You'll see. Another 6-0/6-1 is going to be coming soon.

I said this too before we went on that run of 5 wins in a row. It'll come.

I've not slept since 1961 there's always been this sort of stuff flying around only back then it was word of mouth by a mate who knew a mate who was on the bus to the game with another player.

Hughie McIlmoyle has replaced Ken leek in the '61 Cup final because Leek who'd scored in every round had also scored* with the Manager, Gillies daughter don't you know.

*This may or may not have been true but the rumour certainly was.

Differing opinions are understandable and refreshing, the one thing I don't get though is the distinct lack of unity in the one thing we've all got in common........ our support for Leicester City Football Club. Personally I feel he's done a very good all round job, trimming squad, ousting misfits and reducing wage bill, in playoffs or higher the vast majority of the season with reduced resources!Yes he has faults but show me a manager in the division who is faultless, or has not had selective statistics bent out of shape. I could understand the pourings of discontent if we were mid table or below but FFS we are not.Surely wether you rate NFP or not supporting or team and their objective to achieve promotion should be the main aim? If you dont like him and put that before the support for the team then I suggest you should take a long hard look in the mirror.

My dad told me it was something to do with Leek being caught drink driving, who knows with these rumours.

I doubt if they had drink driving laws back then ,

edit;

not unless there had been an accident

Quite possibly, my dad quite often spoke crap.

I think they could write this story and use the name of about 90% of league managers.

It's probably not the only template story they have at hand.

*Cough*

We all do , I think it's important to maintain the tradition .

I don't like Pearson's arrogants and didn't want him back, but with 11 games to go it would be madness to get rid, I think if I was the owner, let the remainder of the season play out, and if we don't get promoted and they don't think Nigel is the man to gain us promotion, then get rid. I am as frustrated as we all are with the dramatic drop in form, and have called Pearson every name under the sun, ( not vocally at matches), when he makes his bizarre substitution, like bringing vardy on to get us back in a game. But to sack him would surely deflate his players, and ruin any chance of getting through the playoffs, cause lets be honest what manager out there will get Pearson players on a strong run after he's gone.
