Got the impression they both did well particular ssl after an early booking Reading some of the match ratings MD is not the only one saying that.

Perhaps you would like to tell me what his contribution was last night?......... While you are at it, perhaps you can explain why our attacking play improved after he was removed from the action...... As for a new hobby I am thinking of taking up 'stuffing feathers'....... There seem to be quite a lot cluttering up the place so I shall, with as much style and grace as I can muster, stuff them back whence they came....... Good performance unlucky lets take this and bolster a play off position Not really a good performance, we played very little football to be honest, but we did battle and fight and that alone is a big improvement on recent weeks........

Shame we couldn't take more advantage, Cardiff are definitely wobbling. Gutted to lose two points like that and it did seem to hit the lads hard, but heads up lads, I'd take a point away to the league leaders anytime. Got the impression they both did well particular ssl after an early booking Both had very solid games. Schlupp's pace as left back is such an assett and also looked dangerous going forward. SSL was our MOM for me, especially considering the amount of time he's been out. Barely put a foot wrong, strong in the tackle, composed on the ball and started a number of attacks.

marbelladave Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 It's because Pearson changed the system from 4-5-1 to 4-4-2 More a 4-3-3 in my view, almost 4-2-4 on occasions. King and Drinkwater, with a little help from Dyer, had no real problems holding central midfield and our attacking play was better, so yes we were better with just the 2 center mids......

Because we started with the aim of still being in the game at halftime, we kept it very tight restricted them to almost nothing in the first half, meanwhile Dyer was carving out a few chances for us. In the second half the game opened up a tad more and with the their addition of two pacey players it was obvious Wellens wouldn't be able to keep up so he was subbed with his contribution pretty well done. He'd have been sold on or loaned out if he wasn't on a contract that makes him leaving very difficult indeed & his wages saved could have been put to use having over options in backup (or more realistically his wages saved just not running up losses like we are). But there can't be any realistic criticism of Wellens himself, his performance or NP's use of him last night.

We had plenty of ball first half but, a few runs from Dyer apart, did nothing much with it. Cardiff did not press midfield so we had 3 men doing the work of 2, which left us short elsewhere, wide right to be precise....... To be fair to Wellens, none of our three centre mids were that effective and any one of them could have been replaced. We set up negatively because we expected Cardiff to be much better than they were, when it became clear that they were 'for the taking' we did not quite have enough to make it count.

We were the best team against these again, people say Nigel needs to make tactical changes so he does and brings in Wellens who was good considering this was his first league start in ages. Yes we should of win and Cardiff got lucky but overall I'm happy with that performance, onwards and upwards.

Just don't think that I could enjoy the rest of the season even if we did get promotion if Pearson goes, it's his side, he's got it into the top six, it'd be a crime to get rid now. 100% agree, probably wouldn't go again.

Wellens was the least effective of the 3, ergo he was the one 'in the way'..........

I reitterate that that is an insult to him & the improvement in our midfield generally & it's a bloody disgrace for you to claim to be a LCFC fan.
