I reitterate that that is an insult to him & the improvement in our midfield generally & it's a bloody disgrace for you to claim to be a LCFC fan. Be honest ...you did'nt actually go to the game did you ? That's his opinion based on what he saw.

Apart from simply 'being there', I thought he brought nothing to our game, Knockaert or Marshall might not be in great form but either of them playing in front of Drinkwater and King would have been a better option. They might fook up and give the ball away now and then but there is at least a chance that they might score or make you a goal.....
Father Ted Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 I've not read anything posted so far but here's my opinion of it all from last night. We evidently set up to frustrate Cardiff and I was pleased to see us set up like this, particularly with Dyer out left back in the team, a bit of discipline down that left and pace. The game plan was working well, I'd say we were the better side in the first half, can't remember Cardiff having one shot (perhaps not even all game until they scored) and the centre backs dealt with Fraizer Campbell with ease. The referee was extremely petulant first half, gave Nugent a booking extremely early (largely due to the moaning from Whittingham and the crowd) and set his stalls there. It was evened up when Noone did a similar foul (never a yellow either) and we all piped up. He was giving Cardiff free kicks every time they fell over in the first half, they looked for everything, but credit to the ref, he soon clued up on this and waved play on a couple of times in the 2nd half when Cardiff players just threw themselves to the ground. Going into half time at 0-0 was solid enough. The whole team played well as a UNIT, the defence as a unit, the midfield as a unit and strikeforce as a unit, it wasn't the prettiest football but it was highly effective. The midfield combo of Wellens, King and Drinkwater worked very well in my opinion and I've said for some time now that King is best suited in a midfield 3/5 (as also shown at Blackpool) and he was aided by an extremely effective Wellens who got stuck in and showed some neat touches and passing and even managed to find himself in a dangerous position 2nd half when he squared for Wood, excellent run. I'd have no issues if Wellens was to play an important role for the rest of this season if he plays like that, we were beginning to totally control the game just before he went off with most things good coming through him and he was that older head we've been missing at times. Keano was monumental once more, he had a little wobble recently but his last two performances (aided by the fact Schlupp is beside him) have been rock solid and that's 3 goals now since the turn of the year, good to have a threat from set pieces for once. St.Ledger also put an excellent shift in, got stuck in and similar to Wellens, provided that bit more steel and experience to the side. I pray that we can gain some momentum from last night, despite the last minute equaliser. It was a good performance away from home and one that you'd think we should be able to mirror for the rest of the season away from home. The 4-5-1/4-3-3 worked, keep it Nigel!

Harry - LCFC Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 I really don't like the idea of an extra CB on the pitch in the last few minutes. It gets confusing for players if you play with three in the centre of defence and they get in each other's way. If anything you should be sticking more players in the middle of the pitch or asking strikers to drop back.

He has been brought on late in games on numerous occasions by Cardiff and usually scores or affect's the play, how bringing on, "two out of form" = (Shit) strikers is supposed to combat him !!!......We've won 1 game in the last 9..........HAS HE GONE YET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you think, given out recent run of form, that last night's result was anything other than a bonus then you've finally lost your sense of reality. I saw it as a very good result and very very nearly an unlikely win. Playing the formation we did very nearly paid top dividends.

I tend to away towards the latter. They're both capable of playing behind a striker / in front of two deeper midfielders. In fact, I think they've both looked quite good at it at times. If we had more wide options I'd love to see two speedy wingers playing either side of Knocky. He'd be free to roam but we know he'd also gladly get stuck in chasing and tackling in the middle of the park. I always thought Dave's craving to see Gally in that role was a bit bonkers but Knockaert would be a great candidate. With Wood up top on tidy form as well it'd just be orgasmic, like our very own Ozil and Gomez, mmmmm! Only drawback would be not fitting Nugent in. Er, and the fact our only fast winger has no other talents.

Actually imagine him playing CM it wouldn't happen nor would it for Marshall.

They have yes but the original post was Centre midfielder neither of the three have the abilities to play centre midfield. Centre attacking midfielder(second striker) yes.

Once again you are confusing my criticism of our performance, with the result, we weren't great but we did battle, Cardiff, for the League leaders, were poor. In different circumstances it would have been a great result...... Okay. Let me get this straight. Play either of two wingers in front of two centre midfielders? Either you're a wum or just a total crumpet. I tend to away towards the latter. Just back from the pub, glass of cider and a cheese crumpet, very nice....... See, despite everything, you do occasionally make sense, it's almost uncanny.......

It is true that I thought Gallagher a better player than most on here but I was also quite clear that he was total bobbins as either a winger or a striker....... In the 'hole', with few defensive duties I thought he might be quite effective, never got to find out though..... Playing Knockaert in that position is a 'no brainer' too, the wide positions would be no problem either, you could play a striker 'inside out' Vardy or Nugent on the left, Waghorn on the right or more conventional wide men, Dyer left and Marshall right. Even better, mix it up, one wide striker, one 'winger', plenty of options there.......

We didn't get 6 points from them. When will people realise on here that we simply aren't the complete package and will find ourselves being left out of the playoffs on the final day!
