Weren't we linked with a young Davor Suker when O'Neill was in charge?

I'm sure I've heard O'Neill talking about trying to sign him somewhere.

I'm not sure about young exactly, I think he would've been about 27-28 when MON had just joined us in '95.

Not player related but we turned down the chance of getting David Moyes instead choosing Peter Taylor.

In 1995, Blackburn Rovers manager Kenny Dalglish had expressed interest in signing both Zidane and Dugarry, to which team owner and chairman Jack Walker reportedly replied, "Why do you want to sign Zidane when we have Tim Sherwood?

Two years later Zidane moved to juventus for £3 million pounds.

Not really a name that sits beside all these, but what the hell happened to Jay Jay Okatcha??

Don't know but I absolutely loved that guy. His tricks were quality, every week on soccer am Okocha and Joe cole just filled the showboat section.

Can remember against arsenal the ball was running over to the corner flag and he was getting followed by two arsenal players so he turns around right on the byline and does the most outrageous flick over both of the heads, may be wrong but I think it may have led to a goal as well

No you're right I think it led to a goal. That's my point, I remember him well, that season he had was outstanding, he was getting rave reviews from every pundit, he did THAT trick and them seemingly disappeared off the face of the Earth! I dont think he was particularly old so he hadn't retired.

I put it down to fame getting to his head

On a similar note, Sir Alex Ferguson asked his french scout if he thought Zidane would be as good as Cantona. When the scout said he'd be better, Sir Alex just laughed at him.
