HesNotGudjonsonn2 Posted 1 April 2013 Posted 1 April 2013 I tried to gauge opinion on him on another thread but think it got lost in another debate. What would people think about him coming in? He is apparently well liked and respected by people in the game so maybe the players would really want to succeed for him?

Guest Bilo Posted 1 April 2013 Posted 1 April 2013 Decent shout. Our defence was tight as a drum while he was here and the players loved him.
Kitchandro Posted 1 April 2013 Posted 1 April 2013 No thanks. He's not done enough in management yet.
Happy Fox Posted 1 April 2013 Posted 1 April 2013 Not for me maybe in the future when he has achieved more in the game we need a manager to get us promotion.
Kitchandro Posted 1 April 2013 Posted 1 April 2013 What has Powell done that Pearson hasn't? Well he's 'Mr Nice Guy' so nobody will accuse him of headbutting anyone. Plus if we don't give him the job he'll say it's because we're racist.
Vardinhio Posted 1 April 2013 Posted 1 April 2013 urgh, but if we appoint McDermott imagine how boring his interviews will be. Plus he looks like an egg.
Big Dave Posted 1 April 2013 Posted 1 April 2013 Very much rate Chris Powell. I thought our form dropped off after he left. I think he has a better tactical mind than Pearson.
Guest kristianity77 Posted 1 April 2013 Posted 1 April 2013 Very much rate Chris Powell. I thought our form dropped off after he left. I think he has a better tactical mind than Pearson. This, without a doubt. He got the better of Pearson twice this season anyway, comfortably I might add
Jimothy Posted 1 April 2013 Posted 1 April 2013 Wanted Powell to take over when Sousa got the sack but we went with the big name of Sven. I think he would have done a good job, would have kept the continuation of the first successful Pearson era, and seem to connect well with the team. Now I think that chance has passed us by, and employing him as manager now wouldn't have the same effect.
Haydos Posted 1 April 2013 Posted 1 April 2013 It would be a gamble. Wouldn't be an inspired appointment for me but sometimes these things work. At the moment anyone other than O'Neil or RDM and I'd be at least a little disappointed.
bald reynard Posted 1 April 2013 Posted 1 April 2013 No better than Pearson. MUCH better than Pearson ! He'd be a good bet for City.
Kitchandro Posted 1 April 2013 Posted 1 April 2013 MUCH better than Pearson ! He'd be a good bet for City. Based on what? In Pearson's two seasons he got us promoted and then in the play-offs. Powell has Charlton promoted and then midtable.
HesNotGudjonsonn2 Posted 1 April 2013 Author Posted 1 April 2013 Why would RDM, who currently is the manager who has won the Champions League drop to us? Surely he can do better?
sdb Posted 1 April 2013 Posted 1 April 2013 He'd need time. Our fans clearly do not allow that - rightly or wrongly. Not sure if he'd leave Charlton for us either?
Crinklyfox Posted 1 April 2013 Posted 1 April 2013 I watched an interview with Chris Powell where he praised NP and said that he was a big influence on his style of management. I've nothing against the man but if you're looking for something completely different to NP you may want to look elsewhere.
MooseBreath Posted 1 April 2013 Posted 1 April 2013 Why would RDM, who currently is the manager who has won the Champions League drop to us? Surely he can do better? Of course he can. Anyone who thinks we have the slightest chance of getting someone of his stature is completely deluded.
dannythefox Posted 1 April 2013 Posted 1 April 2013 MUCH better than Pearson ! He'd be a good bet for City. Shut up.
anglodan Posted 1 April 2013 Posted 1 April 2013 urgh, but if we appoint McDermott imagine how boring his interviews will be. Plus he looks like an egg. He can bore the tits off me if he gets results. Remember the press clown that was Holloway - be careful what you wish for Having said that, I'm not a huge McDermott fan, but he did a decent job.
