Dan Posted 14 April 2013 Posted 14 April 2013 Unfortunately for Knocky he was signed as a flair player, and then told to work harder and defend more. It's ruined his game. It's the same as Nugent - what on earth is a striker doing giving away a penalty?? He shouldn't even be near our own box!!! Oh, yes, it's NP tells them to defend as a team and puts far too much emphasis on it .... getting rid of flair and getting strikers making challenges they shouldn't ever be making. You're honestly blaming Pearson for what Nugent did? Come off it. It's showing nothing but signs of a vendetta.
5waller5 Posted 14 April 2013 Posted 14 April 2013 You're honestly blaming Pearson for what Nugent did? Come off it. It's showing nothing but signs of a vendetta. I am yes. Schlupp gave the ball away with a poor clearance within our own box, then Nugent miscontrolled it and went running into the box to retrieve his touch. What on earth were both striker doing in our own box???? Following the managers "everyone defend" instructions. Why wasn't a defender looking to burst forward and clear up the miscontrolled ball?? Because they are all on their heels going backwards, getting in each others way because tactically they are without a leader or coach. It's not a vendetta, He's useless and is the worst manager in the last 40 years, and because of that I want him out ..... but this is just an observation that this particular goal was a result of the negative tactics of having strikers told to defend deep into our own half.

Nugent wasn't in our own box? He was about 20 yards outside our box, waiting to mop up anything that came out, and he did get the ball... just shame what he did with it.

Exactly .... he was deep into our half, wasn't he on his own up front at the time?? And yet he was playing behind the midfield?? We just have no shape because we play this "everyone defend" that brings these mistakes on. Exactly .... he was deep into our half, wasn't he on his own up front at the time?? indierich06 Posted 14 April 2013 Posted 14 April 2013 Aknockaert â€@Aknockaert1m Sometimes in football there is nothing to understand ... as you have seen that tonight . DISGUSTED Probably talking about the pen?

Not having that anyone is that stupid. We were 2-1 up and you think it was wrong for everyone to be in our half defending at the end of the game?

Worst manager in the last forty years? Worse than Taylor, Megson, Holloway, Sousa? Have a word with yourself - it's fine to not like him, it's fine to want him sacked, but when you come out with rubbish like -'he's the worst manager we've had in 40 years' it makes you look daft because it's absolutely untrue.
AdamN Posted 14 April 2013 Posted 14 April 2013 He's useless and is the worst manager in the last 40 years I honestly don't even know what to say to that. Christ almighty...

Guest Col city fan Posted 14 April 2013 Posted 14 April 2013 Perhaps Pearson's biggest failing of the past three months is not knowing how to get the best out of our most naturally gifted footballer at the club. Nurtured and played in a formation that enables him to do damage in the final third, Knocky is THE creative midfielder who can unlock defences. Having him warming the bench whilst you bring on Kane and stick him out on the left wing is frankly, scandalous. What a complete waste of a player who could well have been the difference between success and failure this season. I remember only a few months ago when the forum were drooling over the kid and he was being linked, by some, to Arsenal. The latter part of this season has been literally quite unbelievable.

He has had plenty of chances, put himself in the right place, but not scored as in previous seasons, why?

Or perhaps he's just not as good as we thought he was? Im not saying he isnt good, but I think many of our fans think he is something that he simply isnt. Defenders have sussed him out. I love having him as he can do some wonderful things but he just isnt consistent enough.
5waller5 Posted 14 April 2013 Posted 14 April 2013 OK the 40 years comment was a little grenade of a wind up .... but stats wise he's had the worse run in that time. But yeah once someone said Megson stats probably don't support the whole picture!!!! He's still useless - just maybe not as useless as that!

I really agree with this. I think it was obvious in some games he could leave us exposed definsively and I think that ultimately Pearson hasn't been able to accept this. But QPR showed the season when they went up how important it was to have a player who could do something out of the ordinary. They accepted that Taarbat wasn't going to do much work defensively and adjusted their formation accordingly. I feel that Pearson has been reluctant to look at Knocky in positions other than wide left/right and that's a shame. A position just off a main striker would have been interesting I think and would have meant his defensive work was less critical than if he were letting a full-back bomb past him to put a cross in to the box.
Guest Col city fan Posted 14 April 2013 Posted 14 April 2013 King? He has had plenty of chances, put himself in the right place, but not scored as in previous seasons, why? Good point buddy and I really don't know the answer. Again I guess, similar to Knocky, an over-reliance on King's defensive duties has meant he's not been able to get himself forward as often as he could have done, with those tell-tale late bursts into the box. Again, this was another reason why I've long advocated a defensive midfielder in the side.. To enable our more gifted players to get forward and attack. Off subject a little, I was just looking at the top goalscorers in the Championship this season and noticed Tom Ince on 18. I'm sure there was a thread started way back in the season where Marshall was being compared to Ince in a 'who would you rather have?'. Many posters went for Marshall, I believe.. Another example of some of the complete over-inflation by our own fans regarding some of our players.
muzzy1981 Posted 14 April 2013 Posted 14 April 2013 Thought knocky looked good as a creative cm against milwall when we were down to 10. Certainly think could work well in a three but not on 2 as he's not defensive enough.
Ely fox Posted 14 April 2013 Posted 14 April 2013 There are a lot of idiots on here still deluded about how good a manager Pearson is, just get rid of the berk before he falls out with someone else!

No he didn't he passed it to Nuge. Really just go back and read all your posts over the last few months and subsititute NP's name for womeone else - MON if you want . You'll see what a dick you've been.

Get a grip eh? Unless you've only begun watching city in the last two months that's the most stupid thing I've read on here in ages. No mean feat I think you'll agree.
sdb Posted 14 April 2013 Posted 14 April 2013 Knockaert hasn't had a genuinely good game for several months now. He believes his own hype. Shame.
ADK Posted 14 April 2013 Posted 14 April 2013 We don't really know what Knockaert thinks, just because he chose to retweet some people who were kissing his arse dosn't mean he isn't doing a professional job in training. It is true though he hasn't had a good game in ages. Bit like Nugent and Drinkwater
foxile5 Posted 14 April 2013 Posted 14 April 2013 Talkingballs is citing a tweet from someone or other saying that NP had a row with a foreign player on Saturday evening. Just sayin'.....
