theessexfox Posted 9 May 2013 Share Posted 9 May 2013 From Telleh Kasper - 8 - Superb, one shaky moment from a cross but good De Laet - 6 - Good going forward, poor defending, bottled one header Morgan - 7 - Superb, one rash challenge Keane - 7 - Did well Schlupp - 6 - Lost his head a few times, nearly cost us, good going forward Knockaert - 7 - Passion, great delivery for the goal, lost the ball a few times King - 7 - Mopped up nicely James - 9 - MOTM - mopped up brilliantly, great distribution, superb Dyer - 8 - Was brilliant, a few quality balls that were nearly met and great pace Nuge - 7 - Some great flicks to link up play before the goal, which was well taken and important. Wood - 5 - Poor Kane - 7 - Very good sub performance Drinkwater - N/A Pearson - 9 - Played it very well. 4-4-1-1 / 4-2-3-1 really worked, as did the good balance between attacking and sitting back. lcfcbaby Posted 9 May 2013 Share Posted 9 May 2013 Kasper 7 - made some crucial saves Schlupp 5 - gave the ball away too many times. Could tell he was out of position, made some sloppy mistakes Morgan 7 - not bad, thought the booking was a little harsh Keane 7 - did pretty well, kept the clean sheet RDL 7 - was quite good getting forward in the second half but defending wasn't so good today Dyer 7 - made some decent runs but in the second half he started to fade, needs to use his pace better King 9 - thought he was outstanding, people always complaining about him not getting stuck in but he went for every ball James 9 - like King, was brilliant! The two of them were the difference tonight! Been brilliant recently Knockaert 7 - always tries hard, gave the ball away a bit too often, nice skill as always, provided a great assist! Wood 6 - didn't really do much, he was really quiet, never really got stuck in Nugent 7 - Didn't really capitalise on chances until his goal! Well placed goal! Pearson 9 Couldn't asked for a better result. Had the score finished 0-0 I would have questioned why Schlupp lasted the full 90. He seemed out of his depth but Nige kept a winning starting 11 and couldn't have asked for a better result.

kingfox Posted 9 May 2013 Share Posted 9 May 2013 Schmeichel 8 - For me he made key saves which stopped them from scoring, so all credit to him De Laet 7 - Decent, few mistakes here and there, but that's natural for him Morgan 8 - Beast, rock, led like a captain Keane 8 - Defended brilliantly, impressive Schlupp 6 - Going forward he was good, defensively not good enough Knockaert 6 - Good first half, sloppy in the second, not good enough James 9 - Ran the show, picked up loose balls, looked forward, passed well, solid display King 8 - Similar to James, worked very hard Dyer 7 - Caused problems especially in the first half Wood 6 - Slow tonight, not up to scratch Nugent 7 - Could of done better actually, but got the goal so credit to him Subs Kane 7 - He closed down so well tonight Drinkwater - N/A

Danno Posted 9 May 2013 Share Posted 9 May 2013 Schmeichel 8 - some good saves De Laet 7 - they didn't have a sniff down his side Morgan 7.5 - standard Keane 7.5 - see Wes Schlupp 4 - very poor, don't know who's a bigger bomb scare him or bamba? Knockaert 6.5 - didn't really get into the game, great free kick for the goal. About 70% of what he does is wank but that 30% will win you the game . James 9 - absolute giant in midfield, broke up play, great passing. Brilliant King 9 - see James Dyer 8 - was a constant threat all night with his pace, tried his heart out . Legend Nugent 7.5 - chased and harried all game, played well in a deeper role and got his goal. All you can ask for Wood 5 - really didn't do much of note, very poor player, no control and ridiculously one paced. SUBS: Kane 8 - won every ball in the air and found a blue shirt. Great work should start on Sunday. Drinkwater - N/A
bluesbrothers Posted 9 May 2013 Share Posted 9 May 2013 Kasper - 7 - Though we were under the kosh, he didn't have much to do really. However, 3 good saves, one of which was top draw. Distribution was poor, though. De Laet - 8 - Ran himself into the ground as always, very effective today, especially going forward. Bit shaky in the last 20, but to be expected after such a shift. Runner up for MOTM. Morgan - 7 - Solid enough, a bit less solid after the card, understandably so. Keane - 7.5 - Just edges Morgan in the defence tonight. Very cool head for his age, and unlucky not to bury his most audacious of goalscoring chances. Schlupp - 6 - Brilliant until his card, shaky afterwards. Thank god that Vydra was an absolute joke tonight! Knockaert - 7.5 - Absolutely immense first half, not so great second half, but supplied the vital cross for the goal. King - 8 - Immense defensive midfield job, this boy is the best academy product since Heskey. James - 9.5 - MOTM - Wow. Just wow. The outlet for everything, the reason our midfield edged it. A performance worthy of the best Premiership central midfielders. Dyer - 7.5 - GETS FASTER AS HE GETS OLDER! In and out of the game, but their right back was having kittens dealing with Lloydy Baby when he turned it on. Nuge - 8.5 - On reflection, even without the goal, a wonderful performance, especially a mature defensive side to his game. Man marked Chalobah all game, leaving their biggest threat looking toothless. Echoes of Juninho? Wood - 5.5 - Average, looks out of sorts. We know he can score, but he needs a trip to the oxygen tent or something. If we can somehow get old Wood back, we'll thrash Watford now Nuge is back on the scoresheet! Kane - 7.5 - Caused all the problems Wood should have. His recent performances have been a revelation. I'd actually like to keep him, if only as a back-up striker. Drinkwater - 6 - Not on long enough, but I'm feeling good. Pearson - 9 - Perfect tactics. We absolutely shell-shocked Watford for the first 20 minutes, more than matched them for the rest of the first and stayed positive throughout. Brought Kane on at right time and has clearly learnt the lessons of our more negative performances during the bad spell. Early days yet, but that was a Prem-quality performance. Deserved win. SmithyFox12 Posted 9 May 2013 Share Posted 9 May 2013 Really? What did de Laet do wrong to be marked below Schlupp?? De Laet's footballing was shite. vandamman Posted 9 May 2013 Share Posted 9 May 2013 Some of these rating are very interesting, perhaps I was watching a different game but for largely a sub-standard performance for me. Kasper 7 - Made some key saves, distribution bit hit and miss but good performance nonetheless De Laet 6 - steady Morgan 7 - A good effort, led the line well Keane 7 - Step up in performance, should have done better with his chance Schlupp 5 - Sorry to say but a dissapointing effort, whether thats his fault or not I don't know. Knockaert 6 - Mixture of deliveries mostly poor, ran the ball into the oppo a lot King 7 - Ghosted around, good effort James 8 - Mopped up and kept the midfield in shape Dyer 7 - A real threat in the first half, faded a bit Nugent 6 - Bit harsh but prior to the goal he offered very little, seemed to be playing a rather strange position to me Wood 6 - Slow, lacked composure but did bring the ball down well on a couple of occasions
deanolegend1989 Posted 9 May 2013 Share Posted 9 May 2013 Kasper - 8. Good saves, pretty much nothing to complain about. RDL - 6. Done a few times, lost it in danger positions and caught out a few times. Not the best. Morgan - 8. Solid, read the game well, few nice interceptions. Keane - 7. Same as Morgan but not quite as involved, also silly tackle edge of box. Schlupp - 6. Decent on the ball but very poor errors could of cost us. He did well to get a 6 after those slices but he was otherwise pretty good all round. Knocky - 7. Very good first half, 2nd half lost it quite alot and looked tired. Great ball for the goal! was shouting in before Nugent won it. King - 8. Very hardworking, bossed the midfield in a 2 v 3 for most of the game. Impressive. Lovely reverse ball to Dyer just overhit was extremely unlucky. James - 9 MOTM. This guy is absolutely outstanding. He is the difference, when on the ball he has composure strength and ball control to stop us going long. There was a period between about 55-75 when we were poor, resulting to going long constantly and Watford had the game in their hands at this point(I was fearing the worst). James then started getting the ball down and keeping possesion and from then on we deservedly went on to win. He was key. MUST keep this lad next season EITHER WAY! Dyer - 9. Absolutely outstanding again. He beats guys, his passing was quality and hes a constant threat. He lost the ball once all night and he went and retreived it. Top lad, top performance and I will never understand why people criticise this guy. Nugent - 8. I thought he was decent, fought well in his favourite positon. When we hoofed it long he had an anonymous period but what a vital goal. He may be not the biggest(5ft 11?) to win that Vs 3 big 6ft 2+ guys is an incredible header. Wood - 5. Poor. Hes a big lad and he cant hold the ball up for toffee. Extremely dissapointing..if he had good foot eye coordination he'd be a premiership centre foward. Subs: Kane - 6. I thought he was average..he won us a few free kicks but he doesnt offer much and his first touch is awful..That centre back who fouled him was stupid and needless, he got lucky. People calling him to start are off their rocker.
BigWesMorgan Posted 9 May 2013 Share Posted 9 May 2013 Kasper - 9 - Very good. Passionate De Laet - 6 - Should have scored with the header. Could have done a bit better with some crosses Morgan - 7 - Very good except for the one challenge on Vydra Keane - 8 - Decent arial presence. Didn't do much wrong Schlupp - 6 - A tad shaky in defence. His pace caused problems attacking Knockaert - 8 - Great ball. Got back. Added flair King - 8 - Brilliant in defence. Could have made a bit more in attack James - 10 - Superb. Man of the match. Sharp. Precise Dyer - 8 - Absolutely tore them apart in the first 20 minutes. A bit quieter after that. Nuge - 6 - Apart from the goal. Didn't have much involved but what he did do he usually got right. Wood - 5 - Just ineffective. Needs to utilise his strength a tad more Kane - 8 - Change the game when he came on. Best I've seen him play Drinkwater - 11 - Exquisite 60 seconds Pearson - 9 - Played it very well. 4-4-1-1 / 4-2-3-1 really worked, as did the good balance between attacking and sitting back. cc_star Posted 9 May 2013 Share Posted 9 May 2013 Kasper - 9 - Usual great saves, highlighted his weakness by flapping at one cross. RDL - 8 - Great at the back, they hardly had a sniff down his side, not his usual attacking threat. Morgan - 9 - Best game for ages, hopefully he can keep it going twice more. Keane - 8 - Usual good stuff at the back & threat at the other end. Schlupp - 6 - Part bambi, part serious threat. His pace was needed at the back but he nearly came unstuck. Knockaert - 7 - Absolutely woeful, runs into dead ends, embarrassingly slow, selfishness costs us good attacks, but then can pull a free kick like that out his locker, genuine match winner! King - 7 - Pretty good, at times was cut through as if he wasn't there, but pressed hard & created opportunities. James - 9 - What a signing! Got ran through a few times but used the ball well. Dyer - 8 - Worked his socks off second half to limit them, usual threat in first half. Nugent - 9 - MOTM Worked so hard, closed them down, prevented them playing passes to pacey players really limiting their usual game. Wood - 4 - How has this guy scored all them goals, hardly won a single header, didn't work the channels was in their pocket. Feel 4 is being generous because we won with a good tactical team performance. Kane - 8 - Game changer, worked their defenders, worked the channels, drew CBs out where they didn't want to be & kept drawing fouls where we won the game Officials - Poor Pearson - Got the tactics perfect again, yes Schlupp's inability to defend was dangerous but simultaneously his pace was needed. The 4411 with Nuge acting as first line of defence worked a treat then when nervousness of both sides was taking over changed to 4231 where we were in control to see the game out

EdinburghFox Posted 9 May 2013 Share Posted 9 May 2013 People seem a little shallow in their thoughts if Schlupp. He cause all sorts if problems with Dyer with their pace. He made 2 big mistakes and only 1 led to a chance- but he also crwated chances. He wasn't great but he wasn't awful.....
Guest ttfn Posted 9 May 2013 Share Posted 9 May 2013 Schmeichel 8 - Solid game. De Laet 7 - Still worries me defensively, going forward he's great. Morgan 7 - Not his best game for me, but still pretty solid. Keane 7 - Great in the air and distribution was good but lost Vydra a few times. Schlupp 4 - Not a left back. Knockaert 7 - Great first half, faded badly in the second. Great cross for the goal. King and James 9 - Both brilliant. Dyer 7 - Same as Knockaert without the assist. Nugent 6 - Thought he was poor on the ball until his goal. Don't think I fully appreciated the job he was doing on Chalobah until after the game. Wood 6 - Tried manfully but still looks a bit leggy. sub: Kane 7 - Really put himself about. Snatched at a decent chance near the end.
TheStig Posted 9 May 2013 Share Posted 9 May 2013 Schmeichel - 8 De Laet - 4 Morgan - 8 Keane - 8 Schlupp - 5 Knockaert - 7.5 King - 8.5 James - 9 Dyer - 8.5 Nugent - 7 Wood - 6 (Kane - 7) Completely agree with your view on De Laet. He was terrible tonight. Runs into cul-de-sacs and seems strangely single minded. IMO way out of his depth and a liability. None of the full backs were worth their salt today and Schlupp could have cost a goal or two....
Dickov22 Posted 9 May 2013 Share Posted 9 May 2013 Kasper 8 crucial saves again. Boy, can he kick- never seen a defence sit so deep from our goal kicks De Laet 7 worked very hard. Their left winger didn't have any joy Morgan 7 steady Keane 8 so composed, won almost everything in the air Schlupp 6 defensive mistakes but did well going forward Knockaert 6 didn't really go for him tonight but excellent delivery for the goal King 8 worked so hard, everywhere. He's been quality these last few weeks James 9 as above but even better. Great feet too Dyer 8 pace caused them problems Nugent 7 much better from him again. Worked very hard Wood 5 awful. There's no way he's 100% fit . Can't jump, doesn't put himself about Kane 7 needs to start Sunday
