Deucalion Posted 26 May 2013 Posted 26 May 2013 Apart from making me feel all nostalgic and homesick for Leicester, this song and video points out some cultural peculiarities of our fair city. What do you think?
Deucalion Posted 26 May 2013 Author Posted 26 May 2013 Rico posted this in the video section, I like it. Sorry, didn't realise it was elsewhere, I did look. Didn't realise there was a video section to be honest. But...the vid makes me realise there are certain attitudes and behaviours which I unconsciously have or do which are a result of growing up in Leicester. I live in the Black Country and a big thing is make of their dialect. But beyond the dialect, I cannot see any attitudes or characteristics which unite them. They are a pretty diverse group, united only by a silly accent. People from the City of Leicester seem to have more in common.

Jaspa Posted 26 May 2013 Posted 26 May 2013 We used to call Gorilla Cage the Moorsy tunnel Yeah, its the smaller tunnel thats block off now. You could go up that hill to the train tracks Its called Gorrilla's cause it got a mashed up rail infront of the opening and cause theres bamboo growing around it so kids made up it was some old spooky zoo
Jaspa Posted 26 May 2013 Posted 26 May 2013 Is it the canal near Abbey Park? Yeah, its that shitty rain water run-off stream that connects Spinny Hill Park to Abbey Park/Sainsburys
notnow john Posted 26 May 2013 Posted 26 May 2013 Just made me feel a bit depressed. Realism does that to you
separator Posted 26 May 2013 Posted 26 May 2013 Ah, memories of nights out in the Globe, Firkin then onto Sector 5 aka Septic Dive. Finish the night with a TJ's burger. Having Mark Morrison as one of Leicester's famous sons really is depressing.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 26 May 2013 Posted 26 May 2013 I love the little disclaimer about photos at the end: "there's no need to get the arse"
lavrentis Posted 27 May 2013 Posted 27 May 2013 TJ's. Ordered a quarter pounder burger with them once. Actually had 2 Mcdonald's sized burgers stacked on top of eachother inside. Absolutely rank, never again.
rico Posted 28 May 2013 Posted 28 May 2013 Mundella used to be a girl's school. .....and a boys mans school !
