Haydos Posted 29 April 2014 Posted 29 April 2014 We had the game on in the pub that night and West Ham played really well and had a couple of half decent chances, they set up pretty similarly to how Chelsea did. Yet Fat Sam was called a disgrace and Mourinho is called a genius. Suppose when you're a team second in the league you can get away with it compared to the teams near the bottom. Again, can't comment on that, just saying I appreciate the analysis by the guys on sky for this game on the more subtle bits of play that I mentioned. I'll never call a manger a disgrace for trying to win even if it means boring football. It's not entertaining and I don't think I'd particularly want it here for an extended period of time but you do what you got to do.

I haven't slated Mourinho for the way he set up v us on Sunday, us not winning was down to our own downfalls in my eyes. I just hate how Mourinho is applauded for it yet others managers are a disgrace for it. Liverpool should of done what Neville said last night on MNF but then again its easier said when you are re-watching the game back like Mr. Neville did.

It was very hypocritical from Neville to be honest, when they discussed the game the week before he said Liverpool just have to go out and play the normal game, do that and trust the attacking instinct they have and everything will probably turn out ok. Then completely changed his opinion in hindsight this week!

I'd say Mourinho fully deserves every bit of praise he's got. Call it "anti-football" or "parking the bus" but if Chelsea had played their normal game then they'd have been slaughtered, he recognised that and played to his strengths and your weaknesses. Mourinho is applauded for it because he's the only manager in the world that could have taken a side to Anfield and got that result. I don't think you did much wrong (aside from late in the game when you started hitting long shots that were never going to trouble Schwarzer. I agree to a certain extent though, I don't think it should ever be disgraced. Football is a game about winning, and winning should be applauded.
kingcarr21 Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 Disgruntled Norwich City fans “hijack†Player of the Season award Norwich City's Carlo Nash in training. He may never have played for Norwich City, but reserve goalkeeper Carlo Nash appears to be winning the race to be named the club’s Player of the Season. The 40-year-old, who signed from Stoke City last summer, is the subject of a campaign by fans, disgruntled by the team’s performances this season, to be awarded the title. The Barry Butler memorial trophy is given to the player who receives the most votes, with nominations accepted by email and post, as well as by Facebook and Twitter. Around 2,000 fans have already voted on Norwich City’s Facebook page with Nash, a yoga and backpacking enthusiast, appearing to be the front runner. Hundreds more have also voted for him on Twitter, using the hashtag #NCFCPOTS. Some fans, however, have criticised the campaign, arguing that it is disrespectful to other players and not a fitting way to motivate the team as they go into the final two games of the season, needing strong performances to have any chance of avoiding relegation. Among these fans, Robert Snodgrass and Martin Olsson have attracted many votes. Should Nash succeed, it could present the club with an awkward situation. The player himself, who has been named nine times on the bench this season, has offered a possible way out. He has posted on Twitter that, should he receive the most votes, he would “have to graciously decline and of course give it to someone who has earned it.†Would be awkward if this happened. Should of done this for our very own Mr Logan
Grandad. Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 I wouldn't personally use the word class if they pull it off, embarrassing or ridiculous.
Dan Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 Made me laugh anyway. Original way of showing displeasure.
Finnegan Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 Not just trying to wind Lofty up but I'd be somewhat concerned by the persistent rumours that Benzema is leaving Real if I were a Liverpool fan. There's only one target I can imagine them making way to move for if Europe's big clubs really do think they can steal their best forward. Even with guaranteed champions league football and a possible premiership winner's medal in the bag, you can't imagine Suarez turning down Real if they come calling this or any summer.

I said to a friend last night I wonder who Real will decide to take off somebody this summer, Suarez and Ageuro you would think are the top targets.

You've got to look at both though and think, we can match Suarez wages much more easily than we can out-price city. And Suarez has already flirted with leaving last year.
Finnegan Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 And can you imagine Suarez, Ronaldo and Bale in a three prong attack? Kinell. Suarez, Ronaldo, Reus, Bale? Xabi Alonso behind them pulling the strings? Even I'd get a stiffy for Real and I don't like them!

Can see them going for Aguero before Suarez mate. I have always said I would have no issue with Suarez leaving IF it wasn't to another English club and they break the world record of Bale for him.

It's a scary prospect, that's a team that is matching up to the old galaticos one of of Zidane, Raul, Ronaldo, Figo etc

My gripe is that Mourinho has been one hypocritical ****wit when it comes to this argument. Lambasts Fat Sam and West Ham for doing it, then does it himself. I know it matters little compared to the result on Sunday, but Mourinho has done it on repeat occasions. '19th Century football' I believe was the phrase? What gives Mourinho the right to call out other managers for the way they play their football but then go and do it himself? If he kept his gobby little whiney mouth shut, I doubt there'd be as much criticism.

I have always said I would have no issue with Suarez leaving IF it wasn't to another English club and they break the world record of Bale for him. Don't think that record will get beaten for a while with UEFA making their first rumblings about PSG and Man City failing FFP. Plus he's just not worth as much as Bale.
Grandad. Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 Liverpool won't sell for less than £60 million. I would take £50 million and Benzema though.
HEGGSY Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 Liverpool won't sell for less than £60 million. I would take £50 million and Benzema though. Really?I genuinely think Suarez is worth more than what Bale went for. That's just my opinion Finners But Reus is worth more than both combined.
Dan Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 I think Suarez should be worth more yet he's never worth over what Bale went for. Basically I think Real grossly overpaid for Bale, though I do like him he's never ever worth that much.
Grandad. Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 Is there 100% definitely no release clause now? Not now we have qualified for the Champions League, no. He can't go for a penny less than what we value him at now, which according to Tony Barrett is around £60 million and that is just to English clubs and I think in Europe it is close to £70 million. We are in no position to sell, now that we have got Champions League football.

Basically I think Real grossly overpaid for Bale, though I do like him he's never ever worth that much.No player is worth that. Not Messi. Not Ronaldo. Not Bale. Not Suarez. Money is just ridiculous. However, they are all world class and prove time and time again why people are willing to pay that much. However, Reus IS worth that much.
Guest MattP Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 Is there 100% definitely no release clause now? He had a release clause, Liverpool just ignored it, Henry said so. http://www.espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1734832/liverpool-chief-john-w-henry-admits-luis-suarez-did-release-clause?cc=5739 "And he had a buy-out clause -- I don’t know what degree I should go into this - but he had a buy-out clause of 40 million pounds -- more than $60 million. "So Arsenal, one of our prime rivals this year, they offered 40,000,001 pounds for him and triggered his buy-out clause. "But what we’ve found over the years is that contracts don’t seem to mean a lot in England -- actually not in England, in world football. It doesn’t matter how long a player’s contract is, he can decide he’s leaving.
