HEGGSY Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 Not now we have qualified for the Champions League, no. He can't go for a penny less than what we value him at now, which according to Tony Barrett is around £60 million and that is just to English clubs and I think in Europe it is close to £70 million. We are in no position to sell, now that we have got Champions League football. Isn't it more to English clubs? That's what I understood.
Guest MattP Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 Spot on, but our own is Henry, not Hicks. Good spot!
Dan Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 No player is worth that. Not Messi. Not Ronaldo. Not Bale. Not Suarez. Money is just ridiculous. However, they are all world class and prove time and time again why people are willing to pay that much. However, Reus IS worth that much. Even in today's silly market I don't think Bale is worth £80mil+ Remember when £30mil was considered mega money? Bloody hell even Lamela & Fellaini went for not far off that much.
Grandad. Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 Isn't it more to English clubs? That's what I understood. What do you mean? Liverpool won't sell to another English club but if an English club are to come in for him then the minimum he would go for is £60 million.
Bert Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 Made me laugh anyway. Original way of showing displeasure. Why is everyone so fascinated with things having to be original these days?

You said he was valued at £60m in England but in Europe £70m.I fear that I may have read it wrong but, I was under the impression that if an English club were to come in for him, they'd pay more than if say Real or Barca put in an offer.

In theory that would make sense, Liverpool will never sell Suarez to a club in this country though, if we are willing to sell him then Barcelona, Real Madrid and PSG are going to come sniffing, so to them the price is greater.

Mikey Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 The only way I can see Madrid getting Suarez is if they put Benzema in the deal - which is very possible. Don't think Karim would be happy playing second fiddle and so he shouldn't be considering he's probably in the top 3 out and out strikers in the world. Depends how much they want him though. If they were to offer something like 30m + Benzema then Liverpool would be stupid to turn that down. Liverpools not going to find a better striker than Benzema for whatever price they would sell Suarez. Can't see Suarez leaving this summer anyway.
Grandad. Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 £30 million and Benzema? Get ****ed. I would not be happy with that. I'm a greedy bastard though, I would want a massive fee for Suarez if he was to leave but like you say I can't see us selling him, maybe at the end of next season we will have no choice but to. If Suarez was to go, ideally I would like £50 million and Benzema and spend £15 million on bringing Torres back.

I think Benzema is worth much more than 20m. To be fair though, with the amount of money Real have got I suppose 50m and Benzema wouldn't be out of the question. Really does depend on how much they feel they need/want him and if they're willing to get him whatever way like Bale. Benzema is a year younger than Suarez too.
Grandad. Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 Torres? Why? Sentiment. As much as his career has declined and people don't bother coming at me with trophies, his career has declined, I still love the man. A part of me hates him, especially when he plays at Anfield but he was the bollocks for us. I know he got stick from Liverpool fans Sunday but he didn't have to pass to Willian and at the full time whistle he didn't go down to the Chelsea fans, headed straight down the tunnel. Also think Rodgers could kick start his career again.
Bert Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 Why not?It was a genuine question. I just don't understand why people are so bothered about things being "original".

Any transfer fee spent on him would seen to be a waste and I really like him as a player too but he's on the decline and he just wouldn't be the same Torres he was.
Dan Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 It was a genuine question. I just don't understand why people are so bothered about things being "original". Fair enough. It's hard to provide a proper and well-worded answer IMO but I just think naturally if something's different it's going to spark a bit more attention. --------------------- Torres? You would seriously want Torres back based on sentiment?

It's been that long since he was good you forget how good Fernando Torres was.

That's not sentiment. I'm not denying how good he was but that'd be one hell of a gamble. Wouldn't want to go back personally. All seems to have gone right off for him.
Stadt Posted 1 May 2014 Posted 1 May 2014 He's lost his pace, that's why he was so great at Liverpool and he'd just ruin any fond me memories your fans had for him.

All seems to have gone right off for him. The sentiment being that I love the man, like I said in my original post. That was just me justifying have Torres back. That's where I think you're wrong, if not Atletico I think Torres would want to comeback to Anfield, a place where he was loved. He's lost his pace, that's why he was so great at Liverpool and he'd just ruin any fond me memories your fans had for him. Torres was never the quickest, apart from his start that is where he was electric, over a distance Torres wasn't the quickest. There aren't many fond memories left as it is, so I wouldn't think of that.

Even with him out of the spotlight he still seems to make far too many mistakes for me. I'd rather gamble on a younger forward.
kingcarr21 Posted 1 May 2014 Posted 1 May 2014 do you think Borini deserves a chance next season?? Played alright for Sunderland

Torres wouldn't be a bad buy, and this is all going on the sale of Luis Suarez which won't happen anyway. do you think Borini deserves a chance next season?? Played alright for Sunderland I don't think he deserves a chance in the starting line up but I do think he deserves a chance within the squad. A much better option from the bench than Aspas.

Samilktray Posted 1 May 2014 Posted 1 May 2014 Seeing the way Torres is now is very upsetting. Despite the fact I don't particularly like Liverpool he was probably my favourite ever premier league player when he was playing for them.
