Danno Posted 5 May 2014 Posted 5 May 2014 How has Gerrard got 2nd in the FWA awards ?! Toure's been the much better midfielder this season! There is always a hell of a lot of bias towards Gerrard in the media.
Grandad. Posted 5 May 2014 Posted 5 May 2014 There is always a hell of a lot of bias towards Gerrard in the media. Not really, they slated him rotten in 2007 because of England not reaching Euro 2008, ran that much hatred on him he was booed for months after because of England not qualifying. Granted since the 08-09 season they have loved him.
LeicesterBran Posted 5 May 2014 Posted 5 May 2014 I personally think Liverpool will win tonight at Palace, still believe that they can win the league. On the other hand Gerrard has been outstanding for Liverpool this season but, should not be second in the FWA awards.

That means Man City have to drop points vs Villa on Weds and West Ham on Saturday. Both at home. Would take something miraculous for them not to win those 2 games. Especially as neither of the opponents have anything to play for.

ScouseFox Posted 5 May 2014 Posted 5 May 2014 Or Liverpool win 5-0 tonight and 15-0 against Newcastle...
Grandad. Posted 5 May 2014 Posted 5 May 2014 Or Liverpool win 5-0 tonight and 15-0 against Newcastle... Or this lad.
Jimothy Posted 5 May 2014 Posted 5 May 2014 Or Liverpool win 5-0 tonight and 15-0 against Newcastle... 9-0 tonight and 3-0 v Newcastle could do it.
MC Prussian Posted 5 May 2014 Posted 5 May 2014 "Chelsea need a killer striker": http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/27284087 Well, José... You can have Jamie Vardy. £20m and he's yours. On second thought, not.
AKCJ Posted 5 May 2014 Posted 5 May 2014 I've always considered the FWA to be based on who has had the better season based on expectations etc. When Scotty Parker won it a couple of years ago it was because he was an absolute gem in a pile of shite, he churned out 'matchwinning' performances for a side that couldn't win matches. Who really saw Gerrard having the season he's had? Yes he's an undoubtedly class player but he looks reborn. He's had an awesome season and Liverpool's success is down to him as much as it is to Suarez. The media love Gerrard but you can't really accuse them of bias because the written media love to hate Suarez. I'm surprised it didn't go; Gerrard > Toure > Suarez
Grandad. Posted 5 May 2014 Posted 5 May 2014 I'm not getting into an argument with you but don't try and defend Scott Parker winning that award, West Ham won 7 games that season and he wasn't that good, simply running around and throwing yourself into tackles doesn't deserve these kind of awards.
AKCJ Posted 5 May 2014 Posted 5 May 2014 Grandad with the classic "I'm not gonna argue with you but i'm going to argue with you" post.
Corky Posted 5 May 2014 Posted 5 May 2014 Giving the player of the year award to a player in a side that finished bottom is pretty odd.
Grandad. Posted 5 May 2014 Posted 5 May 2014 Grandad with the classic "I'm not gonna argue with you but i'm going to argue with you" post. Oh dear..
davieG Posted 5 May 2014 Author Posted 5 May 2014 They're only football writers, what do they know? Little more than your average fan and often less judging from what i read?

It seems the English way that failure is rewarded. Scott Parker was the standout player that year in a poor team yet he managed to win an award like that.
Grandad. Posted 5 May 2014 Posted 5 May 2014 It seems the English way that failure is rewarded. Scott Parker was the standout player that year in a poor team yet he managed to win an award like that. Yeah, pretty much sums it up. People off the back of this 'Scotty' Parker hype were calling for him to be playing for England and he somehow won England player of the Year..
AKCJ Posted 5 May 2014 Posted 5 May 2014 It seems the English way that failure is rewarded. Scott Parker was the standout player that year in a poor team yet he managed to win an award like that. He won it because he was the stand out player in most games he played in. It wasn't down to personal failure, the total opposite in fact. He had a fantastic season and deservedly won it because he consistently played at a higher level than his talent 'should' have let him. I wonder how far players like Marshall for Cardiff got in the decision making process of some of these journalists because he too has had an unbelievable season based on how everyone thought he'd do and how he actually did.
Stadt Posted 5 May 2014 Posted 5 May 2014 I think you two should just put each other on ignore because I'm getting bored of your bickering and I'm sure others are too.
Salieri Posted 5 May 2014 Posted 5 May 2014 I think you two should just put each other on ignore because I'm getting bored of your bickering and I'm sure others are too. Nah.
AKCJ Posted 5 May 2014 Posted 5 May 2014 I think you two should just put each other on ignore because I'm getting bored of your bickering and I'm sure others are too. Try being on the recieving end mate. Fed up with his attitude and his self-righteousness. I think the forum would be a much better place if he's not a part of it. FoxesTalk should be a site where people give their opinions and debate those of others in a mature, sophisticated manner. He's incapable of doing so.
Stadt Posted 5 May 2014 Posted 5 May 2014 I used to find it funny Salieri but it's in near enough every thread now and they disagree with each other near enough all of the time. It's clearly not going to end soon is it so just ignore each other.
