How many "health & beauty" products do you use every day?

Recommended Posts

As I was going through my morning routine today, I wondered about the  number of products I currently use.  Have I (we?) been sucked in my marketing guff or is this normal?  Christ knows.

Electric toothbrush

Toothpaste

Mouthwash

Shampoo

Shower gel

Face wash

deodorant

shaving gel

Razor

after shave balm

hair putty

11 different items for my morning routine.  Jesus.  What is the world coming to.  I need to man up and drop this to toothpaste and a shower gel.

I'm too embarrassed to list all the products I have, but I couldn't possibly go through that routine every morning.

Shower, clean the teeth (electric toothbrush), squirt under each pit & a bit of wax to stop it going fluffy & out!!  I don't shave every day either - every third day?

I have a load of Clinique products & I use them occasionally as I work outdoors all day & in all weathers.  Every now & then I might treat myself so that I don't end up looking like the Singing Detective.

I live in the American Gardens Building on West 81st Street on the 11th floor. My name is Patrick Bateman. I'm 27 years old. I believe in taking care of myself, and a balanced diet and a rigorous exercise routine. In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I'll put on an ice pack while doing my stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial masque which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion. There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman. Some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me. Only an entity. Something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours, and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable, I simply am not there.

Plus after shave, lip balm and anti-histamine tablets / nasal spray. And if I'm feeling particularly depressed, a quick squirt of "Regain" for good measure ! Jeez, I've pretty much destroyed the planet before I even get into my car !!!!

Haha, now it's all starting to make sense!

No wonder you have no regard for anyone else's feelings! Top film.

About same for me, apart from hair wax.

I do love a good shave though - letting my facial hair grow long then taking it all off.

Brilliant stuff. Beaten to it, I thought the same thing when I read the OP.

Is it odd, I sometimes feel the need to feed cash machines with cats?? Oh well.

I spent quite a lot of effort (and money) trying to eradicate the mass market cosmetics crap from my life. There's a terrible amount of toxic stuff in these products - recently picked up a travel size Nivea deodorant from boots, and the top ingredients were Butane and Propane. Why am I spraying BBQ fuel on myself?

These days the products I now use are limited to these, and they are all non toxic and natural:

Kingfisher toothpaste

Dr Bronners all in one soap (shampoo, shower gel, shaving)

John Masters hair gel

Aubrey Organics deodorant

Aubrey Organics face moisturiser

Probably not as many as I should. Basically just toothpaste and shower gel every day and shampoo every 3-4. Stopped using products in my hair about 5 years ago so there is no need for anything other than water most days.  I have been thinking about going back to wax lately though. I want to be sexy as much as the next person but having not used it for such a long time it feels quite daunting and I don't really have a style in mind anyway. I seem to turn up my nose at most of the 'do's' I see on lads these days and there are very few products I could tolerate because there are few things worse than a sticky head. Bit of a quandary.

I have that kingfisher flouride free toothpaste. TBH even though its fluoride free, it's pretty shocking still compared.
