Vacamion Posted 30 May 2013 Posted 30 May 2013 I am a bit bewildered by this thread. I know most of you are young men and plenty of you are also single, so have to conform to modern grooming etiquette, but I think a lot of people have fallen for a load of old marketing spiel. Gerard Butler telling us to moisturise to avoid "tired eyes" whilst he pretends to play rugby with some models? Really? willy puller. Men should be real men, put the petroleum based products that smell like the perfume counter in Boots into the bin and learn to use a wet cloth a bit more.
Finnegan Posted 30 May 2013 Posted 30 May 2013 I put gel in my hair, that's about it. Surely shower gel and toothpaste don't really count? They're obvious essentials. I don't bother with shaving foam, I shave every day in the shower. I don't have thick enough hair or sensitive enough skin for this to be uncomfortable and I get no razor burn. Obviously if I'd let it grow a bit I'd want to use something but meh.
The Doctor Posted 30 May 2013 Posted 30 May 2013 Toothpaste, shower gel, shampoo and deodorant. Don't moisturise, don't shave so I don't have need of any more than the basics.
Mike Oxlong Posted 30 May 2013 Posted 30 May 2013 Arse wipe paper with Aloe Vera or Vitamin E. The Aloe Vera is nice and gentle on the ring, especially after a good curry. Fvck knows why I've been mugged into buying the Vitamin E version though. Perhaps rubbing it on the old sphincter makes me feel a bit better about all the take-aways and beer.
lavrentis Posted 30 May 2013 Posted 30 May 2013 Anyone else take supplements as well? I'm at home atm so a healthy diet isn't a problem, get loads of greens but got them leftover from uni.
Captain... Posted 31 May 2013 Posted 31 May 2013 On a strict daily basis only toothpaste, I enjoy an odd shower free day or 2 a week, over showering can actually damage the skin and require the need for moisturiser and that shit to replace all the natural oils and stuff you wash off, but mainly its because I can't be arsed or prefer an extra 20 minutes in bed. Over a week I will use 2 in 1 shampoo and shower gel, some kind of hair product, gel or wax if I'm going somewhere nice with the missus, shaving gel, deodorant. That's it.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 31 May 2013 Posted 31 May 2013 I used to work with a guy with a huge Afro (think Sideshow bob) but I think he was afraid of water because he rarely showered. He hum-dinged. It got to the point where I would spray him with febreeze
BoneDog Posted 31 May 2013 Posted 31 May 2013 Arm & Hammer toothpaste on an electric toothbrush. Dove Extra Fresh Shower Gel (or Diesel Fuel for Life shower gel if flush - £22 a pop, but it makes you smell, and walk, like a real man). Dove Extra Fresh anti-perspirant spray on the armpit area (don't buy Dove Aqua Impact unless you want to smell like an idiot). If I haven't had a shower/bath then I'll spray a bit of FCUK body spray inside my underpants* if I have to go outside. The one in the silver tin. The final piece of the jigsaw is a couple of sprays of Armani Mania edt, or Polo Sport edt and I'm good to go. Every single lady who catches a whiff as I walk past gets a wet thong patch, but I'm already taken so there's nothing I can do to help them. *after using a few Pampers/Johnsons wet-wipes on the nut and ass-crack/cheek area.
Corky Posted 31 May 2013 Posted 31 May 2013 Cetraben Moisturiser. Done absolute wonders for my skin, my eczema is now at a ridiculously low level and skin is only really irritable when I haven't shaved for a while
MooseBreath Posted 31 May 2013 Posted 31 May 2013 Not showering at all in the day is pretty fooking grim. What are you 11 years old?
AoWW Posted 31 May 2013 Posted 31 May 2013 Cetraben Moisturiser. Done absolute wonders for my skin, my eczema is now at a ridiculously low level and skin is only really irritable when I haven't shaved for a while I'm hoping you use toothpaste, deodorant, etc too!
Vardinhio Posted 31 May 2013 Posted 31 May 2013 Not sure how you can go about your day having not showered, for me its only thing that wakes me up.
Captain... Posted 31 May 2013 Posted 31 May 2013 Not showering at all in the day is pretty fooking grim. What are you 11 years old? Why? If I don't smell, why would I bother, even if I do so what, sweat is a potent feromone, sometimes women literally jump on me. Seriously though over showering is a bad thing look it up.

BoneDog Posted 31 May 2013 Posted 31 May 2013 Not showering at all in the day is pretty fooking grim. What are you 11 years old? At least once a fortnight I don't have to leave the house for two days straight, so I sit in my pants for a day, eat burgers and chips and play COD4 part 1. Sue me Daddio.
Stevosevic Posted 31 May 2013 Posted 31 May 2013 Toothpaste Shampoo Shower gel Face scrub Deodorant Face balm After shave Shaving cream (every 2 days) After shave soothing gel (every 2 days)

Captain... Posted 31 May 2013 Posted 31 May 2013 As my wife is always reminding me, just because you can't smell yourself doesn't mean you don't smell. I have a very critical girlfriend at the moment with a keen sense of smell, she smell the lingering traces of a bottom burp a good 15 minutes after detonation, if I smell, I know, cos she tells me. Maybe I'm like Alistair Cook and just don't really sweat, or maybe because I don't shower everyday, I don't need to, your body adapts and creates dependencies to external influences. Who knows.
StanSP Posted 31 May 2013 Posted 31 May 2013 How much showering classes as 'over-showering'? Surely once a day isn't over-showering?! Anyone else take supplements as well? I'm at home atm so a healthy diet isn't a problem, get loads of greens but got them leftover from uni. I take Vitamin C supplements. They're Tesco ones in an orange tube. I wouldn't say that I can't live without it, though, so it's not a must every day.

Surely once a day isn't over-showering? http://kcpickens.hubpages.com/hub/hygiene-and-health-how-often-should-you-shower That link suggest 2 showers every 3 days, or even 1 every other day. For those that are able to read a differing opinion to their own without resorting to personal insults, congratulations you learnt something today. For moosebreath, yes I am 11 years old and I am disgusting and I probably have gay dreadlocks or something.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 1 June 2013 Posted 1 June 2013 I'm pretty much bang on with Jon the Hat but I moisturise every morning and night and ex foliate three times a week in the morning. Sack off the shaving products as I'm purely electric, in all. Actually in many ways - I'm not like Jon the Hat at all. *There's nothing wrong with taking care of yourself but when a routine becomes an obsession and you over-do things it's time to stop, surely?
