Captain... Posted 10 June 2013 Posted 10 June 2013 What do you do with yours? I ask because the people that brought me into this world want to clear some space in their attic. I have conceded on some of the foxes magazines and some newspaper articles that are a bit dog eared. Then there are the fanzines, The Fox, Where's The Money Gone, lots of posters and footy stickers, I could probably get rid of most of them. Then it comes down to the bulk which are the programmes. Now some I want to keep such as the 7 Wembley finals, Hillsborough, European programmes etc. But will my life be any poorer if I get rid of the rest, bearing in mind some of them have been in storage without being looked at for over a decade, it is not even a comprehensive record of all the matches I attended as I stopped buying programmes after about 2000, and some were bought for matches I couldn't attend. They are not exactly in the best condition either, most of them spent 90 minutes folded up in my back pocket and have had posters removed etc. So what would you do/have you done with yours?
Fox92 Posted 10 June 2013 Posted 10 June 2013 I have mine all in a box in my room (apart from my dvds and cds that are out for obvious reasons). I was considering getting rid of the standard programmes (normal league games) because my dad has them all as well.
Rincewind Posted 10 June 2013 Posted 10 June 2013 I have a load around the house. Not sure what to do with them. No doubt they will be dumped if anything happened to me so should I let them go to a good home first?
Leicesterpool Posted 10 June 2013 Posted 10 June 2013 I collect must have millions all over my house in folders.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 10 June 2013 Posted 10 June 2013 I've stopped collecting The Fox and programmes (aside from the important matches and collectable ones) now. The programmes were a big cost when you think about it. However I won't get rid of them. My pride and joy are my VHS season reviews transferred onto DVD (where I learnt our history in the 1990's from) and the three volumes of Fossils & Foxes, all in excellent condition.
Captain... Posted 10 June 2013 Author Posted 10 June 2013 Wheres the money gone was brilliant. I used to love it, but reading through them again, it hasn't aged well, I was considering scanning a couple of articles and photos and posting them, but they really weren't as good as I remember. Can a mod move this to the Leicester forum, please, thank you.
Guest Col city fan Posted 10 June 2013 Posted 10 June 2013 I've got play-off finals and League Cup finals framed in my house. The programmes have all gone into clear sleeves and ring binders, sorted by age. Slightly anal I concede, but I like to present stuff nicely.
Bayfox Posted 10 June 2013 Posted 10 June 2013 Similar boat to me. Had to shift mine to make space for the little ones. However i have a factory to store mine in. Col not that anal. All mine are boxed and in plastic wallets. I hope one day my kids will want to sit down and share the moment. However i did stop collecting when i decided i couldnt be arsed with carrying them round town on the piss after. I would never part with my cup finals, play-off games, euro nights and games such as old trafford, anfield etc. But i do wonder about games such as watford, west brom etc.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 10 June 2013 Posted 10 June 2013 Just moving house and although I haven't got every programme from the games I have been to over the years, I would say I have over 90% boxed up currently from about 1982 onwards( I have been going since 1979-80 season so missed a few there and I have a few missing frim seasons spanning from the 2002-2006 period also). Would love to preserve them as Col has but they are just in 2 large boxes ready to move Oh if anyone is free to help me move 28th June inbox me
itsblueupnorth Posted 10 June 2013 Posted 10 June 2013 I've got every programme since 1953 home and away including friendlies all in official club binders in my study

leicesterisme Posted 10 June 2013 Posted 10 June 2013 Got loads under my bed in boxes. They just sit there haven't looked at them for years but I will never get rid of them
Kitchandro Posted 10 June 2013 Posted 10 June 2013 The club sell a programme holder, I've got one shared by old City programmes and horse racecards. There's some good matches in there, including the Arsenal 3-3 in 97, the 2-0 win against Liverpool in 1980, our first Premiership game, the 97 cup final replay, the madrid friendly and one of the FA Cup semi-finals I think. I've also got some great old newspaper clippings and issues of Bygone City (?) with old articles of Leicester games as they appeared in the paper at the time. As well as that book you can get from the club shop I think full of newspaper cuttings? Anyway I keep all this stuff in my room, Ive got these big wooden boxes next to my desk with all my sports memorabilia and videos. My mum doesn't like it as my room is tiny as it is and it's impossible for her to clean, but I tell her I like my shit where it is. I hate it when my stuff gets moved around. When I think about it I've got a lot videos and memorabilia. It takes up most of the space in my room. I've got 2 draws full of football shirts as well, and another big box reserved for my sport DVDS.
He's not bald Posted 10 June 2013 Posted 10 June 2013 All scanned, years and years fitting nicely onto 1 memory stick which is on my keyring...happy days!
Albert Posted 11 June 2013 Posted 11 June 2013 I've got the 'Home team dressing room' sign from the old stand at filbert st before the Carling stand was built and the number 1 shirt peg. They sit proudly in my downstairs toilet thats a shrine to LCFC! Also got Walshies shirt he wore in the playoff final against Derby
Hugo Sanchez Posted 11 June 2013 Posted 11 June 2013 You got the shirt walshie wore against Derby ?!! Where the fooking fook did you get it ?!

Gave away or sold most of the small things i had and kept just a few... Cup final programmes and signed Gordon Banks picture. If the stuff is in your loft and you arent looking at it, there is prob no point to keeping it when someone else might make use. Select your fave stuff that has meaning..and offer the rest on here or ebay

Select your fave stuff that has meaning..and offer the rest on here or ebay I was waiting to see if anyone on here would shout up and say they would take anything I don't want. I was also thinking about sticking some on eBay. There are some that I look at and I can't even remember the game, when you are a season ticket holder it just all blurs into one after a few years. I've got some random posters from 99 I think. They have a a photo of the player on one side and then a cartoon of them on the back doing a different job, Savage as a fireman, Heskey as a long jumper, Lennon working in a zoo, I can't remember where they came from, or even seeing them before. It is sort of head over heart thing, I know they serve no real purpose, but I'm just finding it real hard to get rid of them.
