Ric Flair Posted 11 December 2008 Posted 11 December 2008 I didn't understand the last half of what you said, but I assume everything is going to be better now. So thanks. She's yours mate. Jackpot, repeat.
AoWW Posted 11 December 2008 Posted 11 December 2008 I had a similar experience a week ago, I was there, I could see and hear what was going on around me but the motor part of my brain just seemed to not want to function, shit me up. In feel like that for most of the working day. EFT mate. Anything is possible with that. I was all up for trying that... 'cept I got stuck each time I got to the 'say something positive' bit.

Ric Flair Posted 11 December 2008 Posted 11 December 2008 In feel like that for most of the working day. I was all up for trying that... 'cept I got stuck each time I got to the 'say something positive' bit. Start with, even though I can't say anything positive and I struggle to........ (whatever it is you struggle with) it's ok for me to be like that right now. Start by doing that and see what unravels.
AoWW Posted 11 December 2008 Posted 11 December 2008 i think it possibly would have woken her up Dunno, this is Master Fox we're talking about - I'm not sure she'd have noticed.
Master Fox Posted 11 December 2008 Posted 11 December 2008 i think it possibly would have woken her up Well it did, but i licked it first and got away with that bit.
Master Fox Posted 11 December 2008 Posted 11 December 2008 Dunno, this is Master Fox we're talking about - I'm not sure she'd have noticed. This was before me and AOWW started seeing each other.
Zingari Posted 11 December 2008 Posted 11 December 2008 Dunno, this is Master Fox we're talking about - I'm not sure she'd have noticed. you really are handbagged up today aren't you ? spoiling forrit i'd say

(whatever it is you struggle with) it's ok for me to be like that right now.Start by doing that and see what unravels. Knowing me, probably everything. But, thanks, I'll give it a go. *Starts to compile list of things I struggle with* (Erm, I could be some time... see you all in 2011)
Master Fox Posted 11 December 2008 Posted 11 December 2008 I sometimes fall asleep mid wank which is nice
Craig Posted 11 December 2008 Posted 11 December 2008 I had this a couple of weeks ago, really really scared me. I feel back to sleep then it happened again, but i managed to snap out of it. Horrible.
Collymore Posted 15 June 2013 Posted 15 June 2013 Does anybody/ has anybody suffered from this? I first experienced it within my first year at university, when the stress of being away from home and getting bladdered night on night, really effected my sleep. I remember the first time it happened I was so scared i didn't want to go to bed the next night! There was an overwhelming sense that some evil creature (like a witch) had entered my room, was sitting on my chest, trying to stop me to breath and kill me. Rather annoyingly you can't move a muscle to fight or flee the ****, even though your body enters the flight or fight mode. At first I thought i was dreaming but after about a week I realised I was actually wide awake, just paralised. So what about the witch? Well that's the strange thing, I could never explain it but out of interest I googled it one day and was amazed to find that it was a common disorder called the "old hag syndrome" ( there's even a wiki page! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis and if you google it there's scarier less scientific but more paranormal explanations!) The really weird thing is that in America sleep paralysis is very common but instead of "old hags" it's alien abductions that is commonly reported. They reckon our "ways of life" and "fears" we have manifest themselves differently depending on which side of the pond you live (Remember I researched all of this from it actually happening to me and not knowing anything about it before hand) Amazingly I overcame the problem when it happened when my CD alarm went off in the morning with the Rocky Balboa theme song playing, as it went in the chorus (when Rocky rises to fight once more) my muscles became free and the "Old Hag" has not revisited me since. I've has the paralysis since, but always thought of Rocky is protecting me, and it works! It must all be in the mind.... I hope! It's fooking scary though when it did happen.
Kitchandro Posted 15 June 2013 Posted 15 June 2013 I hadn't heard of this before but the last week or so it's come up twice on this forum. Sounds pretty creepy, I'm usually paralysed in my dreams but I don't think I've ever been awake and paralysed. I do sometimes 'wake up' from one bad dream and then after a while I realise I'm still dreaming.
Finnaldo Posted 15 June 2013 Posted 15 June 2013 Had a look at the Wiki page. That's some serious Paranormal Activity stuff there. The worst bit is that it's English folklore. When I was younger I remember having dream (can't really remember if it was a dream or reality) and being paralysed face down in bed, I felt like I was suffocating. Since then I haven't allowed myself to sleep facing down.
BigAL88 Posted 15 June 2013 Posted 15 June 2013 i suffer with it alot, its difficult but you have to shake your self out of it. thing is when it happens to me, i know im awake but i cant open my eyes and cant move, then i got in to this thing called lucid dreaming. where you know your in a dream and your still asleep dreaming but you can control what happens(once you get used to it, it takes alot of practice.point being is that once i started lucid dream my nightmares(which were mentally killing me), i stoped my bad dreams but also bcause i was in control of what happenediv not had night terrors/sleep paralysis since . its all interlinked.my advice m8 is . google lucid dreaming on google and train yourself to do it, it will helpbest of luck

I've has the paralysis since, but always thought of Rocky is protecting me, and it works! It must all be in the mind.... I hope! It's fooking scary though when it did happen. I suffer with this also. It can be terrifying. But there are times also when there is no demon type thing there in the room OR sitting on my chest . The London sleep clinic told me that it was a form of narcolepsy ..they wanted me to come down and do a sleep study but when I was told I had to pay for it , I cancelled. They did however explain to me it is often linked to stressful situations in life My most recent event was when I was getting ready to meet up with friends in the evening, I thought I would catch an afternoon nap. For me it would always happen when I had afternoon naps and at the time of going to sleep- very rarely when I was waking up... Well I was just dozing off and I felt this 'thing' where I knew I had just slipped into the sleep paralysis thing.... I was trying to hard to wake up.. I could JUST see underneath my eyelids but I could only see the light - my eyes wouldn't look down... I remember trying so hard to open my eyes... I then heard the knock on my door.. my friend was there waiting for me... luckily I left my door on the latch as I often listen to music but had the music switched off to nap..... I was trying so hard to call out to them but I just couldn't make a sound..... they cam into my house as they know I was expecting them and were calling out my name but couldn't find me. I was asleep on the sofa when they found me and I heard them come in the room but still could not open my eyes... they just said what's wrong? as they could tell by my face something was wrong... all through this there were times I stopped breathing and couldn't get a breath of air ( or so it felt like).. They just kept saying " Matt, Matt... what's wrong? what's wrong?" and I was trying so hard to open my eyes but couldn't. My face the whole time I found out later was all contorted like I was struggling... eventually my eyes just flicked open and I immediately felt their hands on my arm.. She said that she had been shaking me the whole time trying to wake me up... I could hear every word they said and every creek of the floor board around the house as they were looking for me but I didn't feel them shaking me until my eyes just flicked open.
Bryn Posted 15 June 2013 Posted 15 June 2013 It's caused by waking up before your REM phase of sleep has finished, so you haven't regained control of your voluntary movement yet. I can imagine it being terrifying but you just have to remember that you're safe and in bed, you're at no more risk than you would be if you were still unconscious.

But for me it would only happen when I dropped off to sleep not when I was waking up.. it was like an intermediate stage before I would fall asleep properly...
Jimothy Posted 15 June 2013 Posted 15 June 2013 But for me it would only happen when I dropped off to sleep not when I was waking up.. it was like an intermediate stage before I would fall asleep properly... It can happen when going sleep, you're just enter REM state before you fall sleep. It's only ever happened to me when falling sleep.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 15 June 2013 Posted 15 June 2013 Strange I hadn't heard of it before but this week it's all of heard about it. Lots of people are mentioning it to me and I'm kinda scared it might happen to me because that's usually how these things work .
NewburyFox Posted 15 June 2013 Posted 15 June 2013 I had this for a few nights a few months ago, but until reading this thread I had no idea what it was. I had a virus at the time, and every night I'd feel awake but unable to move my legs, unable to wake, but felt that I wasn't getting any sleep at all. Weird dreams too, which is odd for me as I very rarely dream, at least nothing particularly vivid. I tried to sort it by sleeping at the other end of the bed, but fortunately it went when the fever broke. I woke up covered in sweat one morning and that was pretty much that. This thread has been a good read though, didn't realise until now that it was a specific condition.
lavrentis Posted 16 June 2013 Posted 16 June 2013 Only ever had Sleep Apnea a few times which is where you get short on breath for some reason just as you are about to go under. Never had this paralysis though, sounds pretty intense
